Due to some serious soul searching (yes I’m still looking for a real job I literally just got a Master’s degree, I would never forgive myself if I didn’t keep trying) I was wondering if I started writing historical queer romance/erotica, would any of you read it? (Probably publish under a pen name to keep it separate from my dreams of traditional publishing fantasy and sci-fi novels) Additionally!! If I opened up slots for writing commissions, would anyone be interested? I can post further samples beyond First Impressions if people want to see.

I would like a job that takes me to Chicago, but I really just want to fund the move so I can be with my girlfriend 😭

Anyway, so I started writing a f/f/f eventually poly retelling of Bluebeard this afternoon!

And on that note, unfortunately, I’m putting myself on hiatus again. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m doing some serious job hunting and it’s really been grinding me down. I’ve also sort of started seeing someone long-distance (sort of until we’re in the same place so!!!! 😬😬) and that’s been difficult because I want to spend time with her and ALSO focus aggressively on getting hired in the correct city for now.......... So, I won’t be not writing, but I really need some time to get my act back together!! 😅

I'll probably take some time off to do original work, but I think that's what's coming.

Heads up, my loves - my First Impressions Tumblr updates are going to be super messy this month! Two post days I’ll be traveling, and one post day I will be graduating with my Master’s degree. :) Most chapter updates will probably come late in the day or over the weekend, but the chapters will be posted on time!

But just so you’re aware, this is the ONLY Friday this month without a chapter! There should be one up every day before noon! If you’re new to First Impressions, it’s a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice but of epic proportions. (Last chapter bumped my published word count over 250k. You don’t even want to see what my master documents look like lol.) I’ve tried to be very faithful to the original while still putting my own twist on things - mostly, you can see it in the supporting characters like Charlotte Lucas, Colonel Fitzwilliam (now Professor Robert Fitzwilliam), Louisa Hurst, and Anne de Bourgh. Some of the more interesting (imo) explicit updates: Both Darcy and his sister have severe anxiety and Georgiana (now Georgia) has an in-training psychiatric service dog. Anne’s illnesses are diagnosed as extreme asthma and cerebral palsy. And Jane is on the asexuality-spectrum. 😊

I post “regular” chapters (following Elizabeth) every other Friday, and “special” chapters (following Darcy) go up on the interval Fridays when they slot into the rest of the story. I’ve been publishing on both Wattpad and Archive of Our Own. You can read from the beginning at both those links!

Yoooooooooooooooo~

Finished a thesis AND NaNoWriMo! I had so many projects going this month, I didn’t quite have the satisfaction of seeing a single document grow. But I got a ton of important things done, like finishing all the chapters of First Impressions out through the end of the year, finishing the second draft of my Master’s thesis, and sparking a bunch of great ideas on how to make my current novel more complex! (Which of course means major rewrites to the first one but that’s okay!! I want it to be really good!!! I care a ton about this one and I really see publishing potential. I mean, after a lot of work, but still lol)
