That was just as stressful and I knew what was going to happen.
I think I'm actually going to read Tower of Dawn first this time.
SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.
.
Well shit, the King knows she’s Aelin. I’m surprised he didn’t use it against her sooner. Why wait until she waltzes into the castle with Chaol in tow?
Well shit again. Lorcan lied. Of course he lied. Instead of killing the Wyrdhounds he gave them Rowan’s scent. Of course he did, because he couldn’t make it that easy.
There’s a lot going on right now. Aelin chased by Dorian. Chaol possibly being killed by the King, but I’m questioning that because of the burning blue light that made an appearance.
Then there’s Aedion and Rowan fighting the Wyrdhounds, and Lorcan showing up to help them. Aedion was able to set off the fuse and it went boom, but now they’re facing an army of Valg. Yep good times.
Let’s continue shall we?
That was stressful! Lysandra came back as a ghost leopard and tore into the Valg. It was fantastic! Aelin let Dorian stab her so she could put the ring on him! God she’s so damn smart and sneaky. I was also right about the blue light. Aelin put the real Eye of Elena in Chaol’s pocket saving his life. Yay! Dorian was able to save himself with help from Aelin and his father telling them Chaol was dead. Then they did some magic vudu thing together that wiped out the demon in the King and we found out that he was just a puppet the real bad guy is the Duke because inside the Duke is Erawan. The rat bastard.
Holy smokes batman! Manon did notice Elide was missing and she found her. Yay! So with a key wrapped in a piece of cloak Manon and Elide and the rest escape. So at some point they’re all going to meet up with Aelin in order to give her the message, but when? Okay it won’t be all of them. It will just be Elide.
And a relatively happy ending for all. Poor Chaol can’t walk, but it’s okay he’ll go to the healers and come back all better. I’m curious to know why Manon seems drawn to Dorian though. Maybe that will come up later.
Aelin and her court made it to Terrasen, now they just have to make it to Orynth. Lorcan is gonna be so pissed when he finally figures out that the Amulet Rowan gave him is fake and he’s gonna come for them. So we have that to look forward to, and so much more.
On to Empire of Storms

SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.
.
Poor Asterin 😭😭😭
My heart ❤️
Aelin paying off Lysandra and Evangeline’s debts.
Aelin and Chaol finally talking about wanting each other to be happy.
Chaol telling Nesryn that once everything is over they can figure out where home is together.
Aelin teasing Rowan, kissing him and bribing him with “the rest” if they live through the next day.
Aelin telling Rowan he makes her want to live, not survive or exist, but live.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Now that we’ve had a bunch of heart felt moments I feel like shit is going to hit the fan. So onward we go.

SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.

Okay, Kaltain is kind of a badass, and has great potential now. How is the Duke controlling or releasing her magic though? Is it the cut in her arm? Did he insert a piece of obsidian like the rings? I’m glad she was able to fight back and is just laying low now. It gives me hope that maybe Dorian can do the same if he can just find a reason to fight.
I don’t think Manon’s grandmother is getting any of her letters.
OF COURSE!!! 🤬 Of course Arobynn would know that Aelin and Lysandra had become friends and put a contingency in place that if something happened to him that word would get out that Lysandra is a shapeshifter. OF COURSE! I want to bring Arobynn back to life so I can kill him again. Bastard.
While rescuing Lysandra, Chaol finally understands what Aelin was talking about when it comes to Dorian and decides NOW is a good time to kill him. But then he GOES THE WRONG WAY. Aelin’s gonna kill him.
Also the Valg in Dorian backed off and coward when Manon spoke to him. And was talking about her eyes and how they were eyes of the Valg Kings. So i’m wondering if I’m right and there is more Valg in the witches with gold eyes than normal colored eyes. Does that mean they’re stronger? It means there’s hope for Dorian. He remembered his name!
Ooooo. Interesting. Aelin felt a pull toward Manon, as she did with the healer in Innish on her way to the Red Desert. What does it mean? Is it Mala or is it Elena or is it something else? They’re now connected, that’s for sure because Manon owes her a life debt now.
Things just keep getting more and more interesting.

SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.
.
All those trips to the bank. This whole time I thought she was just making regular trips to follow someone or just to get money, maybe draining Arobynn’s client accounts somehow, but no she was getting the layout so she could switch Arobynn’s Will. When the Master read that he left everything to her, for a slit second I thought maybe he truly cared, but then I thought, no I bet Aelin switched it somehow. Either herself or she convinced someone to do it for her. Either way it was a genius plan.
I enjoyed every time she threw it in the faces of the assassins that she owned the Keep or the carpets or the Guild. It was entertaining 🤣
Cutting off Arobynn’s head “just to be sure” was savage but also chef’s 💋
Well shit. Not only is the king trying to raise an army of Valg but he’s also trying to release a Valg King. That’s going to add some challenges to Aelin’s plan.
Manon discovers the darkness only affected witches with regular colored eyes, but not witches with black/gold eyes. Does this mean the witches with regular colored eyes are more Fae than Valg and vice versa for the witches with black/gold eyes?
Aelin and company finally discovered that the King has witches and wyverns and it unnerves Aelin enough she doesn’t see Lorcan until it’s too late. A trade? He wants a trade? Why do I not believe it’s that simple.
Rowan and Aelin finally made up and it was glorious even if it was short lived and didn’t go anywhere near far enough, but with the promise of more later, the fact that they made up is enough for now ❤️❤️❤️

SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.

I bet Manon is regretting her decision to follow her grandmothers orders now. Even if she won’t admit it to anyone. I hope this is enough to get her to start thinking about making her own decisions and not following her grandmother.
I absolutely LOVE that Aelin and Rowan can have a complete conversation just by looking at each other, no words exchanged, just looks, 😍😍😍
Rowan - You wicked, clever fox. 💕
Hot damn! Aelin’s plan started the second she hit Rifthold. The hair dye wasn’t just so she wouldn’t be recognized, but part of a bigger plan. My girl certainly is a wicked, clever fox. I’m starting to wonder what else in in store for us. Specifically what has she been doing on all those nights she snuck out and we weren’t allowed to follow her? Hmmm. I guess we’ll find out.
Holy shit! For a minute I thought we were going to have a whole other level of shit to deal with. When Arobynn slipped that ring on her finger and she obeyed him I thought we were in some serious trouble. Then I kept reading and she slipped it off. 🤣
The bastard is dead. Yay! I’m glad she let Lysandra do it, but at the end of the day I’m just glad the asshole is finally dead. One down, one to go.

SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)

Elide is starting to show some moxie. I like it.
Rowan telling Aedion they will be the backbone of Aelin’s new court and protect and serve not just her, but everything she is working to rebuild. 💕💕💕
Aelin playing the piano and then teaching Rowan warms my heart ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I love that Aelin seems to have a plan for everything, but she’s not telling anyone yet. I really want to know, but I also find it comforting that she’s not telling anyone yet. Not even Rowan.
Oh damn! She set a trap for Lorcan! Is that the person who’s been trailing her practically since she got back to Rifthold? It wouldn’t surprise me, but if it is why hasn’t he made a move yet?
Aelin taunting Lorcan 🤣 based on the conversation between Lorcan, Aelin and Rowan I feel like either Maeve is going to help the King or Aelin is going to defeat the King and then have to face off with Maeve.
Holy shit! Lysandra is a shapeshifter?! That’s going to be awesome once Aelin restores magic. I love that we’re finding out all of this stuff simply because Rowan is there and he’s been alive a long time and met all kinds of people.
It sounds like Aelin is planning to take Arobynns head off. Lets find out.

That’s right run away Nesryn before Rowan finds out you shot an arrow at Aelin.
Aedion and Rowan and their male dominance standoff while Aelin basically just tells them to knock it off or take it outside is everything 🤣🤣🤣
Rowan spilling the beans without knowing it. Whoops. I think Aedion is over reacting just a little bit considering there was a lot going on when it happened. A big part of it was that she was under the impression that Aedion was basically dead to her since he was helping the King. He really is over reacting.
Aelin teasing Rowan about her nightwear is also everything 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️ I’m dead 🤣🤣🤣

Ummmm, whose gonna tell Aedion that it’s too late to tell Rowan that the blood oath is his and his alone? Anybody? I don’t want to break his little heart, but somebody has to do it. Anyone? Anyone at all?
Aedion and Aelin trading scar stories is fabulous, and I love that Aelin says she has a plan for everything, but she’s not sharing. Understandable since that’s how plans get ruined.
“They took one look at her weapons, at that utterly wicked suit of hers, and decided they liked having their organs inside their bodies.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Wise move guys, wise move.
Rowan showed up!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

"She just stretched out her legs like a cat and said, 'I'm ready to accept your thanks for my spectacular rescue at any time, you know.'
He couldn't stop the tears leaking down his face, even as he rasped, 'Remind me never to get on your bad side.'
A smile tugged at her lips, and her eyes-their eyes-sparkled. 'Hello, Aedion.'"
I love them so much 🥰
SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)

Manon is right to be hesitant to let the Duke experiment on one of her covens. Luckily a Yellowlegs coven volunteers. Which is either going to be a good thing, a bad thing, or both.
Aelin and Aedion’s conversation after he woke up is outstanding. “I waited an extra thirty seconds” 🤣🤣🤣
I cannot express how funny I find it that Aelin keeps showing up at Chaol’s secret meetings. 🤣🤣🤣 I’m curious how she does it or if she’s really just that good. also I love that she used Ansel’s name after Arobynn said he told the owners she was trained by the Silent Assassins in the Red desert. Not how I was hoping she’d come back, but there’s still time for her to make an actual appearance.
I think Elide’s heritage is interesting, because there’s no indication that her mother was an Ironteeth witch. So did she know? I hope we get more of that story. I also think it was a wise choice for Elide to choose the witches over her uncle. He’s an ass, and I hope Manon kills him down the road.

"But the dancer looked up at Aedion beneath lowered brows. Even disguised as an aristo man, there was wicked, vicious triumph in her turquoise-and-gold eyes.
Behind them, across the hall, the dancers shattered their roses on the floor, and Aedion grinned at his queen as the entire world went to hell." <- I love this so much.
SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)

Aelin playing the part of a clumsy newbie dancer to get into the party was fantastic, but even better was her meandering through the crowd and reaching Aedion without anyone noticing. Without Aedion knowing who she was until she was standing in front of him looking him in the eyes.
I really like Florine. I hope she does show up wherever Aelin finally ends up with her throne.
Shit. Shit. Shit. Fuck! Was my exact reaction when Aelin and Aedion ran into Dorian as they were escaping the castle.
Why didn’t Dorian give Aelin a sign?! Is he too weak? I hope he heard her and is still fighting.
Yay, they all managed to make it out alive. At least so far. Chaol really needs to get over himself and listen to what Aelin is saying and what she knows, but I have to say that I’m glad Nesryn stopped her from killing Dorian. That gives him time to start fighting back again and hopefully save himself or buy time until Aelin can save him.
Abraxos likes Elide. 😊

I LOVE that Aelin finds Chaol even when he's in secret meetings 🤣
SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.
.
Aelin queen of crashing Chaol’s plans whether it’s a secret meeting or a rescue mission. 🤣
I really hope Manon declines the Dukes plan to merge the witches and the Valg, because I don’t think he’s being entirely honest about what’s going to happen, but I also feel like she’s going to agree to it and then his true plan will be revealed.
Elide is alive!!! But with her uncle Vernon. Is it really her uncle or did her dad think it wise to change his name. Nevermind that would be silly unless they changed her name too. So she made it out alive, but I’m assuming her injury was from that day and not simply from an accident. I wonder if she’s going to help Manon. 🤔
Also I’m glad that Lysandra and Celaena are going to be friends. I hope eventually Lysandra is told the truth about Celaena being Aelin from her and not someone else. I do have a feeling that Arobynn is going to use their new found friendship as a weapon against Aelin in the future. Because that just seems to be who he is. No matter how much he says he missed Aelin and wants to make it up to her. He’s a liar and a manipulator who will do whatever is necessary to get what he wants. I hope Aelin never fully trusts him.
I want to know what the letter Wesley wrote says!

After Aelin accepts Arobynns offer Lyssandra comes to deliver his grand plan to rescue Aedion. However she also warns Aelin that he is up to something else, and gives her a letter from Wesley. Poor Wesley found out about everything too late. At least he tried to help and succeeded in killing Farran in revenge. Although I’m wondering now if Arobynn killed him because he was seeing Lyssandra and not to score points with the new crime lord. 🤔🤔🤔

Poor Dorian 😭😭😭
Chaol is such a dumbass right now. I can't stand him.
SPOILERS - Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass book 4)
.
.
.
Come on Dorian, fight! You can do it. Don’t let the evil dark prince win.
Aelin in the Vaults wondering what she’d missed while away. So, so much Aelin. I hope you can catch up quick.
Poor Aelin 🥺 she wants so badly to believe Arobynn and trust him, but she can’t and I don’t blame her. I want to believe that in the past two years he managed to change, but I just don’t see it. He’s going to have to do something pretty spectacular to convince me he’s changed.
Okay, right now I kind of dislike Chaol…like a lot. I’m glad he’s helping rescue people and everything, and he’s planning to try and save Dorian, but even after Aelin tells him her magic may be the only way he still has the nerve to call her unpredictable. And accuse magic wielders of being too dangerous. Then he lists all the people she killed and I just wanted to shake him and say SHE DIDN’T EVEN USE MAGIC THEN, but I think that might prove his point. I hope they get back on better terms, but he’s being kind of a dumbs right now.
And poor Aedion! 🥺 Not only is he set to be executed, but he’s dying of an infection. Left to wonder which will kill him first, but hoping the infection kills him before Aelin tries to save him 😢😢😢
Anyway, onward we go.

Lol. I don't think I'll ever be able to read that without using Rafiki's voice.
Cracked open Queen of Shadows just to take the dust jacket off and saw this. I immediately thought of The Lion King.

Too fast. It all happened too fast. They didn't get enough time together 😭😭😭😭😭
SPOILERS - The Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass Prequel Short Stories)
.
.
.
So…I forgot to post about the other stories and now I’ve finished the whole prequel. So here are my thoughts after finishing it.
I fucking hate Arobynn with a fiery passion. Like how could you do that to someone? I don’t know why I bother wondering because it’s not like he really cares. He just doesn’t want to share. What’s his is his and no one else’s. However I do wonder if that’s true why didn’t he rescue her? He didn’t know the King would send her to Endovier so his master plan couldn’t have been to break her out of Endovier, but I feel like that’s the excuse he’s going to make when she finally confronts him. So was he just going to let her die? Like if he couldn’t have her then no one could? I hate him so much.
After she got back and he was nice and gave her gifts and flat out lied to her and manipulated her into thinking she was saving more slaves. When in reality she was helping secure the agreement for the road to help increase slave trade. I simply thought he was just a down right gaslighting asshole, but in the end yeah I fucking hate him so much.
His whole plan was a bargain to get Farran in place as the new crime lord and he swoops in and saves Celaena is the gist that I got from their conversation. But we know that Wesley at some point between now and Throne of Glass kills Farran, and then Arobynn kills Wesley. My question is still why? I’m hoping we find out in one of the next books. Until then my theory is that obviously Wesley kills Farran for what he did to Sam as well as capturing Celaena. I think Arobynn probably kills Wesley to either cover up what’s happened or as punishment for killing Farran. Maybe both.
I whole heartedly believe that Dorian and Chaol were at the dance party when Sam stepped in to say Celaena was spoken for. It was so adorable! 💕💕💕
Celaena helped a healer Yrene. I kind of liked her and I hope we get to see her down the road. But I wouldn’t be sad if we didn’t. I would love to see a reunion between Ansel and Celaena though. Especially when Ansel learns who Celaena really is. I was a little disappointed with the stealing of the Asterion horses. I thought it would be part of some big plan of Celaena’s not part of someone else’s grand plan.
I absolutely LOVED that the Master of the Silent Assassins actually spoke and was like I don’t know where people get this idea that I took a vow of silence. It was hilarious! 🤣 I also hope that we get to see him and/or Ilias down the road as well.
It broke my heart 💔 to read about Celaena and Sam being happy and starting their life together knowing how things were going to end. I thought reading about his death would be sadder, but no tears shed. Probably because I already knew he died, but they also didn’t have a lot of time together and I don’t think I was as attached to them as I believed I was.
Anyway, now it’s time to continue with Queen of Shadows. I’ve hear things really get interesting in this one and based on where we left Heir of Fire I’m not surprised.
😉

Oh Rolfe, gettin' beat by a 16 year old.
I like the subtle shift we see in Sam between the first meeting when they learn of Ben's death, and dealing with Rolfe and the slaves.
SPOILERS - The Assassins Blade (Throne of Glass Prequel Short Stories)
.
.
.
The Pirate Lord
Given that I already know Celaena and Sam get together, I love that he’s an ass to begin with. What can i say? I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers trope.
So at 16 Celaena is acting like she’s the best and she’s already been named Adarlan’s Assassin, but she’s not second in command. Although with Ben now dead maybe she’ll be named his second officially.
At first I thought it was weird that she was wearing a mask, but I guess she wouldn’t be quite as intimidating if her enemies new she was just a girl. On the other hand that would give her an advantage because it would lower her enemies’ guard. 🤷‍♀️
Anyway, I don’t understand why Arobynn sent them to see Rolfe under the pretense of collecting a debt when they were actually entering into an agreement with him for slaves. That seems fishy to me. Like Celaena was thinking, why did Arobynn need them both out of the city? What’s he planning or taking care of that they couldn’t be around?
I loved that Celaena beat the pants off Rolfe twice! 🤣🤣 She’s only 16, and she says it herself. If she can beat him twice now, he’s not going to want to face her in a few years. Part of me hopes they do run into each other again. That would be so interesting. Especially for him to find out that she’s Aelin.
Anyway onto the next short story!

It's interesting some of the details you notice the second time through that didn't seem very important the first time. Wine red hair. How early on Rowan was plotting/hoping that Celaena would leave Maeve alive. So many others.
Anyway, I'm off to read the holiday special that is The Assassins Blade.
SPOILERS - Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass book 3)
.
.
.
So I finished Heir of Fire and I don’t even know where to start now.
I’m not surprised that Manon and her covens won the War Games. Not surprised in the least. I was pleasantly surprised that she actually chose to save Petrah. Sad they couldn’t save Keelie, but also intrigued by what the Crachon was saying to Manon. I keep waiting for Manon to decide shes had enough and kill the Matrons, but I think we have a ways to go before she’s that sure that it needs to be done.
How does Rowan know to call Celaena Fireheart? Does he know that story already or is it just something that he decided to call her? That battle was insane! Like I knew she was going to go out there and use her fire to fight them, but holy smokes I wasn’t expecting that. 😱 Though I did wonder if they would end up being Carranam. I just didn’t think it would be in this book.
We learn so much from visiting aunty Maeve. Including that she really doesn’t know a lot about the Wyrdkeys. I think I understand. Brannon and Athril got the keys, but Maeve wanted them so she fought and killed Athril even though she loved him, but Brannon took the keys, sword and ring and hid them all. Rowen knew whose sword it was he pulled in the cave, sly devil, and what it could possibly mean. And boy howdy did it work. Bartering her lovers ring for Rowen’s blood oath. That was…risky. I mean I wanted him to break it, but again I didn’t think it would happen in this book. I’m still confused as to whether the vision she shared with Maeve is supposed to be good or bad for Celaena. I’m still fuzzy on that bit.
Then we have Aedion who is now a prisoner and lure/trap for Aelin. I wonder how that’s going to work out when she comes back as Celaena. Will the King suspect anything when she comes back empty handed? Will she even find out that Aedion is there? Oh yeah, I bet Dorian will tell her, except he has an obsidian collar now 🥺 I wonder how that is going to change things. Is he going to have a Valg in him? Poor Dorian he just can’t catch a break. 💔💔💔 Chaol finally declared whose side he’s on! 👏👏👏 Calling Dorian King and Aelin Queen. Then running for his life. But not before stopping to get FLEETFOOT! 😍💕😍💕💕😍 To be honest that surprised me a bit to start with, but then I was like no that totally makes sense. Chaol would think about that, but he also grabbed Damaris which I think was a smart move. So he declared sides and can’t stay in the castle and he won’t go home now. Is he just going to stay in Rifthold? I feel like that would be a bad idea. 🤷‍♀️
I’m hoping in the next book Celaena is able to keep her cover as Champion but I also feel like that’s not going to be easy because he’s going to ask her to do things that will be harder to cover up as he prepares for Aelin’s inevitable arrival. Also I hope she finds out Aedion is there and frees him. She’s gotta free Dorian too. At some point she’ll meet up with Chaol, but I think he’ll have to send her a message because for all she knows he’s back home.
Anyway I’m off to start Assassins Blade as I’ve been told this is a good spot to read it.
