The way Ai Di looks up with the most done expression on his face ever before anything even happens. This boy is amazing. Also, still collared. Because he knows what's going on.

I knew it was coming and I still made an illegal sound. Chenyi is an idiot but at least he's an idiot in love now. This boy is so bad. He is in love and he has no idea what to do with that fact except, you know, be in love.

I would not want to be on the receiving end of that look. This is a very frustrated and confused feral murder bunny who just wants answers and was instead given a pillow. Which does not have any answers in it.

I love Ai Di so much because, frankly, I think he likes the pillow in his own way. It's just that his own way also doesn't allow for this because he needs answers, not more confusion.

Of course he takes the worst possible meaning from the gift because, without context or an agreed upon relationship, this is just plain confusing. Especially for feral murder bunnies who need direct communication because everything else is just frustrating.

Ai Di wants everything blunt and straightforward and Chenyi is trying to woo him with advice meant for other people for the man he loves.

You know what, I get why this guy has been so awkward this whole time. He's been listening to Chenyi pine for four years and giving advice only to realize his boss is an idiot when it comes to romance. And now he's in the position of already giving advice to someone who is not gonna follow it.

But also the way Ai Di looks at the pillow. Oh, he'd love that pillow if he wasn't so convinced it was an insult.

(Thought he'd definitely prefer it if Chenyi had slept with it a few nights before giving it to him. The scent of him is so obviously comforting to him.)

The pain of realizing how unromantic the man you love can be is real.

He is such a baby idiot and I love him.

This is the greatest scene ever because there's this moment when you realize that something you thought was obvious isn't and you somehow have to explain this to someone and you just don't know how to put it into words because it's so obvious.

That is the face of the man who has never had a thought in his head that wasn't either a plan for a crime or a dirty dream about Ai Di.

There is not a thought in Chenyi's head at this point. Nothing. His head is entirely empty save for crime and Ai Di. The problem is that makes convincing Ai Di he loves him so much harder. Because he needs to convince Ai Di he loves him.

Okay, I love this man. Don't care. He can do whatever he wants. I love him.

Honestly though, Thailand is a developing country where it's traditional for men to pay dowries to the families of brides. So, like, if we're being REALLY REAL here, the amount of gold-digging sexual virtuosos throwing hole at Prapai must have been off the charts. This guy probably gets offers for the kind of sex you can only find in the darkest corners of eastern European brothels on the regular. Prapai hasn't just been around the block, he's re-paved it, installed traffic lights, attracted small business, and has a team working on installing sidewalks. My guy's dance card is full.

And the reason I'm laying this out, is because the single biggest mood of this entire show is the fact that Sky, a character so tightly wound you could use him to launch a yoyo through a half-inch Tungsten steel, gave this man a 45 minute quickie so good he had a complete personal metamorphosis. This man went from Johnny Bravo to Amelia Bedelia because Sky's bedroom game was that out of control.

Sky has my respect for this. He's invited to the metaphorical bad bitch cookout, is all I'm saying.

MY FRIEND, I ABSOLUTELY CAN!!!! 🥰 Starting from the beginning…

PART ONE: ORIGINAL FILMANIA PRODUCTION & FATE

It’s 2019-20, you’re Mile Phakphum Romsaithong, a very rich socialite who plays guitar. You’re bored and you’ve been thinking about getting into acting, and have been offered misc. BL casting opportunities before (1), but never really felt like any of them were For You, so you turned them down. 

Then, one day, you find out that there is a BL currently casting from the studio Filmania, where the male lead is based on you (2), at least your public persona/physically/whatever. Being a puppy of a man, you are delighted, and go read the script, and then the books, and decide you’ll go to the casting call for it.

At casting call, you re-meet Apo Nattawin Wattanagitiphat (3), who you went to college with and had a giant crush on (4). You guys hit it off IMMEDIATELY, chemistry unhinged, and get cast as Kinn and Porsche. Apo takes it, even though he has historically had a bad experience with the Thai acting industry (5). You are delighted by this incidence of FATE!!!!!!

PART TWO: IF YOU DON’T HAVE FATE ON YOUR SIDE STORE-BOUGHT IS FINE

The show gets dropped (6) Something something the authors, something something the company, whatever. I assume, if you are Mile, you are very sad! And if you’re Apo you’re also pretty sad, because it seemed like for once even with all the industry BS you had a cool dude on your side who you hit it off with, and it was gonna be a cool show. On the heels of that, if you are Mile, and have stacks of money, and see your college crush who is an unbelievable actor about to re-give up on acting and call it a wash, you are like, “wait, I have stacks of money and know everyone”.

So you, Mile, call up the head of the small talent agency you’re signed with, Be On Cloud, which is really just your buddy Pond Krisda Witthayakhajorndet in a fake mustache and a trench coat, and go, hey! So! Have you ever wanted to make television? I have a man here I CANNOT allow to be sad under any circumstances, and also, we’re really good at this and there’s an audience here.

PART THREE: BE ON CLOUD, KINNPORSCHE TAKE TWO!!!!

Pond, being just as unhinged as Mile, thinks about it for a second, and is like. Well. How different can making television be from running an event planning company, which is my real job (7). It’s just calling up a bunch of different guys who are good at their jobs and putting them in one place. And I know so many different guys! Let’s do it!

They get the rights (handwaves this I don’t know anything about it) and jump into production. They get their shit together UNREALISTICALLY quickly (6), and on top of that, since they’re starting from scratch and they’re just A Bunch Of Guys led by Pond and Mile, they decide that their priorities are #1 making art and #2 making Apo happy. With regards to #1, they rework the script (8), hire the best acting coaches money can afford, and put the cast through character-building and intimacy workshops. With regards to #2, they toss out all the industry bullshit that has sucked for him in the past – no more crew/cast hierarchy (9), no more homophobia on-set (10), no more fake fanservice (11).

FINALE: MIRACLES IF U BELIEVE ETC.

Magically, it turns out, when you create a great working environment, you get really, really good TV!!!!! Which means that their unhinged plan succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, and now Mile & Apo are internationally famous superstars who hang out 24/7 with their squad of 16 close friends, and we get to watch them do it. And it has been, genuinely, a fucking privilege. 

To end this tale with a personal note, one of the reasons I allowed myself to get so invested in KinnPorsche so fast is because it was evident from every aspect of it – the show itself, the BTS, the actors interviews – that the people working on this show both really cared about the show and were genuinely having a great time. There is nothing like seeing art made by people who are passionate about making it! 

Their enthusiasm, their hard work, and their obvious enjoyment of the process & each other’s company are what made me feel like I could trust what they were making, because you could tell no matter what else it was, it was from the heart. And that’s really something special! Especially in this day and age!! 

And even though they could pull it off this time because of the circumstances (financial and social), I hope that it shows BL television CAN be made in a way that keeps the actors comfortable and safe and happy, and encourages change for the better across the industry as a whole. KinnPorsche shouldn’t be the last wild BL passion project; it should be the first one of a new wave. (bangs gavel) Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

god it's just. the way they're both trying so hard to be there for each other, to be strong for each other

akk is at his breaking point already during class with teacher waree and goes hurtling past it with that fucker chadok yelling at him and yet he tries to smile for aye and tries to tell him he's okay. that he doesn't need to worry. and he pulls himself back together over and over again, lets himself cry for only a moment before trying to be strong because he can see that aye is barely holding on either. it's worrying how good he is at stopping himself while sobbing and pulling back his shoulders and trying to sound steady

and aye. god. aye is furious and trying so hard to get chadok away from akk and he's terrified because he understands how his uncle was driven to his demise, and i think he really, fully understands what his mother felt like now as well, when she asked him if he was leaving her too. it's the devastation on his face when he looks at akk, who only days ago was smiling and teasing him, kissing his cheek and flirting and being happy, that really just brings this point home. he's trying so hard not to let his grief and his fear and his anger get the best of him because he knows akk needs him, knows that he can't ever forgive himself if he doesn't give akk his all now, if something were to happen to him

it's just. i think they're both trying their best to hold themselves together because they haven't yet learned that they can be weak together, too. "you're allowed to be weak, at least with me" applies to them both at the same time, but it seems like aye and akk think they need to cling to cliff with one hand and each other with the other hand, instead of falling together holding each other
