I read the books for the first time when I was seven, and I didn’t understand why in book five Harry was so mean to everyone! And now I’m seventeen and it’s like, why the FUCK did no one send that boy to therapy??? He watched his friend die, then was tortured, then was isolated in an abusive home (again), then found out about a SMEAR CAMPAIGN against him, a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BOY. I want to enter the Wizarding World just to make him cocoa and explain PTSD to the adults around him and hug everyone.

what really blows my mind but makes me so incredibly happy also is the fact that phil is so comfortable with saying that he’s gay out loud. like this man has been out of the closet for more than ten years. you can see how happy and confident he is, how he has no problem just blurting it out because he has been living this authentic life for years.

that’s why he said that his coming out would be so lowkey. because the only people that he needed to come out to were us.

what i love the most about phil’s vid is that it represents a queer narrative that is so common in experience but still so uncommon in media. a narrative about someone who knew they were gay from a young age, without question. who was closeted, but not in a significantly traumatic way. who was outed against their will, but took control of the situation.

it resonates for me in a completely different way than dan’s video did. it resonates with the part of me that so desperately wants it to not matter that i’m queer. that wants to just live the simplicities of my life and know that other queer people are out there doing the same.

“i’m gay, it’s great, i’m happy.”

that’s power.
