okay first… it was on ep. 23 when he first got introduced in the anime. i was already loving the baratien arc and i was learning all about sanji so it was super interesting to me. and ofc with the whole don krege fight between him and luffy was really good and since the villain got defeated i was like “oh okay, arcs over.” right?

WRONG.

A WHOLE SHIP GETS SLICED IN HALF BRUH

AND THEN- the whole krege crew is going crazy like “he going to kill us!!!” and then they show mihawk and i’m like wtf i was expecting a whole MONSTER not a man with really good style

younger me was thinking “there’s no way that dude in that tiny ass boat sliced a whole ship.”

BUT THEN ZOROS REACTION LOOK-

YOUNGER ME THOUGHT ZORO WAS SO FREAKING STRONG THERE WAS NO WAY HE COULD GET DEFEATED BUT MY GUY IS SHAKING IN HIS BOOTS SO GUY IN THE TINY BOAT MUST BE STRONG

and then the actual fight… this was where mihawk just grabbed me by the collar and never let go.

and then mihawk leaves and I’m like okay i officially like him I’m going to be watching out for him but he doesn’t come back for THE LONGEST TIME EVER

i was so mad cause younger me could not sit and watch more than 10 episodes a week. I CAN WATCH 10 EPISODES IN A DAY NOW.

but then he just shows up out of nowhere with the crews first bounty’s and he has zoro’s so i’m like aw he actually paid attention and remembered him and is watching him

AND THEN

he shows up for the 3rd time at the first warlord meeting (and the way he walks in bruh, all nonchalantly 🧎🏽‍♀️🧎🏽‍♀️🧎🏽‍♀️) also i think this is where doffy caught my attention too

BUT THE WAR ARC IS WHAT DID IT FOR ME BRUH

please it was so funny when they revealed that he lives on an island literally called “gloom island.” and his castle? it fits him so well

but the visuals they gave when zoro asked for his training…. HAHAAHAABDKDNKABXKCB

and ik looking back at all of this it’s funny cause i’m explaining the quick version but this was all drawn out over YEARS that i watched the show. i didn’t catch up with the show as a whole until only recently. and ofc in those years i saw some amazing fanfics and work so that also aided my addiction to this fine man

When I talk about showing realistic consequences of the trauma harry endured in fanfiction I'm not talking about infantilizing him to an extreme degree. I'm tired of seeing that. I want to harry saying fuck you to the dursleys and "if they want to call me a delinquent I'll show them delinquent" I want to see flinching at too fast movements. I want to see food hoarding because of starvation over summer. I want to see fast eating and the covering of plates with arms because harry doesn't know of his foods gonna be taken away. I want to see nightmares. I want to see problem with authority figures. I want to see the distrust of large men because of Vernon. I want to see Harry be abnormally good at things like cooking and gardening for a kid his age. I want to see him obsessively cleaning because dirty equals a beating. I want to see harry being really fast because he was always running away from dudley. I want to see harry resorting to muggle fighting because of fights with dudes and because that's what he grew up with and his first response wouldn't be to whip out his wand. I want to see panic attacks when people raise their voice. I want to see panic attacks in general.

REALISTIC TRAUMA RSSPONSES ARE NEEDED!!

(this is not to say that people don't revert to infantal behaviors in response to trauma. However the degree fanfic authors crank it up to is entirely unrealistic in my opinion. All people with this type of trauma response are valid in my mind ❤️)
