a couple more scattered thoughts on TTPD before therapy so I don't wasting time in the session workshopping my material:

I almost want to like Florida!!! if only for Florence and that it's the only track on the whole album where I found the music to be any way memorable, which is a grim statement, but honestly, it's so ugly on the ears and not in a fun way.

I didn't actually hate I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), but I also found myself daydreaming about how much better this song would sound if Antonoff handed it over to Lana like ten years ago.

honestly a lot of these songs when they aren't just extremely generic Swift songs breathily whimpering about her ex boyfriend, feel like parts of them (if not the whole damn thing) were lifted from the cutting room floor of a Lana Del Rey session and that is possibly the nicest thing I have to say.

But Daddy I Love Him is such an embarrassing song for a woman in her mid thirties to release (also it's literally just Love Story but with western imagery instead of Romeo and Juliet.) also it's always so funny when any of her songs contain a segment whining about her fans being too involved in her personal life. like my brother in Christ, YOU are the one who keeps making direct references to obscure but findable details regarding your personal life in your music as Easter Eggs for the real fans to find and decipher. like a lot of the time I am like yeah it sucks how artists don't have privacy but for fuck's sake, you have intentionally cultivated this fan base!

remember when Taylor Swift released 22 and it was like just a fun pop song you could sing along with in the car instead of needing and failing to prove that she's a Real Artiste? those were the days.

I'm trying to slog my way through Tortured Poets for a fair critique but 1) like Swift's last three albums, it's just so fucking boring and 2) I keep having to pause and pound my fist on the nearest table/floor/steering wheel in petty glee at the sheer audacity of every time she attempts to dip her voice into a Lana del Rey-esque contralto.* girl, you are 34 years old and the biggest popstar in the world? why are you doing this?? it's so embarrassing???
