Completely overhauling my Senior Animation called Keep Flying because it’s complete garbage and I hate it.  I had some good segments, but overall it’s a dumpster fire.
So I just finished the redesign of the character earlier today.  I’m super happy with it.  Working on facial expressions for him.  (I still need to design him as a tween (12) and an older teenager (16-17).  I’m getting 20-21 year old from his redesign.)
I’m gonna focus a lot on higher quality background design, storytelling through character acting and framing as well as more interesting/dynamic shots.
Tumblr media
I’m also adding a kind of secondary character (a bird) to kind of give this character a bit more of a reason as to why he’s doing what he’s doing.
Only close friends will get to see any of the animation work in progress / animatic and expression / acting tests since most of them are animators as well and can give me feedback.  Especially one of my friends who’s an absolutely amazing animator.  His stuff is just so freaking smooth it’s ridiculous.
But yeah, that’s what I’ve decided to do since quarantine is killing me and I’m going cabin crazy.

people say the animorphs covers are *creepy* but the actual in book transformations are all like ‘then her face cracked in two, her organs melted, her bones all snapped and reformed backwards, and her fingers and toes fused together. she couldnt cry because her tear ducts didnt fucking exist anymore. everyone looked at the ground so they wouldnt throw up looking at this’

Still working on this but I’ve spent ~11 hours so far on it.  A bit of a combination of art styles here.  But I got inspired by the game Solatorobo for the DS.
Just been messing around with various art styles.

So I have this little comic that I do when something funny or ridiculous happens to me called Days of Reina.  Or just little events that I feel like sharing with people.
Here’s a little lineup of a few outfits I wear from day to day (colors can change but the outfit in general won’t).  As well as what my hair looks like when it’s freshly cut and I haven’t let it grow out for several months.  (I’m lazy when it comes to getting it cut.)

tutorial for drawing a cat's hind legs?
sure!
so the first thing you should know is that, in essence, a cat’s haunches are a trapezoid
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a mistake i see a lot of young artists do is making the infamous “circle” haunches, with the heel being way too high. cats have very low heels and the hind leg will never be straight down like that
Tumblr media
another mistake i see a lot is what i like to call the “dinosaur leg”, where the leg will be in 3 distinct parts. going off of a cat skeleton you might think that this is correct, but cats have very large and strong muscles in their hind legs which allow them to jump and run and climb and do cat things
cats have butts!! and butt muscles!! draw them!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there are different ways to draw the legs too! i’ve used the “joint” method before where you draw the joints and then draw the rest of the leg, similar to the way they teach you in school

Character sheet for Arkadia.  Took me a week to do all of this because I was experimenting with how to do eyes.  Not to mention I’m working with angles and sharper lines.  So yeah.  Also conveying personality through poses can be tricky.
