20 Years of Remark Back to Mine. from Remark on Vimeo.

Two decades ago, I began experimenting with creating and curating continuous, non-dance soundscapes. I have a deep passion for ambient, new age, shoegaze, alternative, and post-rock music and was inspired to combine these elements into ornate aural narratives. I named the project Remark Back to Mine after the popular series of the same name.

To celebrate 20 years of Back to Mine, I am finally releasing the 23rd soundscape, titled “Ataraxia”. Defined as "a state of serene calmness”, this 5-hour journey transcends you into another dimension, free from this sad, painful world, where you can lose yourself entirely in the euphony of the universe. Experience the mix now exclusively via Soundcloud and Mixcloud. In addition, I’ve added five unreleased sessions from the archive to the Back to Mine playlist. “Existed”, “London”, “Couleurs”, “Hopelost”, and “Virtue” all explore a collection of emotions — from despair to heartbreak, indifference to excitement, inspiration to friendship.

Remark Back to Mine sessions reveal some of my most intimate sound selections and are engineered to provoke thought, reflection, emotion, and introspection. Most of these melodic contours are responses to chapters in my life: moving to a new country, best friendship, reactions to the world, heartbreak, contemplating life, equanimity, and falling in love. The sessions tell stories and explore the twists and turns of life — an intimate wander in subliminal emotion, a snapshot in time, a soundtrack to the soul. They often venture from the conscious to the unconscious. Sometimes peaceful, sometimes calming, sometimes mysterious, sometimes rocking.
