Sister, they seem to think i'll change my mind,
and that, in a man, a family i'll find.
but, Sister, you see, they're so mistaken:
my motherly bones have all been taken,
if there were ever any to begin.
my cold and tainted heart, what lies within?
if not maternal love then festering hate
preventing me from procuring a mate.
they pity me, my unfortunate hex,
my dismal disdain of the lesser sex.
dearest Sister, you'll find they are still wrong,
distrust of men won't centre to my song.
it's simply that, within my cursed womb,
any child there is undoubtedly doomed.

emotions tear through me like a hurricane:
tormenting me, choking me, holding me prisoner.
and when i come to write them down,
to find release in pen on paper,
all i can do is write about you.
you've stolen all my words,
made them your own.
taken the one thing i loved,
the one thing that was mine alone
and tarnished it beyond recognition.
but still, i come back.
to the warmth of the page,
to the safety of words,
to my pen's sweet caress:
comforting when you were cruel,
softening all of your spite.
she'd hold me close when the hurt was too much,
rub my back when the tears became floods,
dry my eyes and whisper sweetly
"he'll rue the day he thought to leave me."

the realisation that you are my muse
has had my head spinning all afternoon.
it shook me from my sleep this morning
and teased me as i lay wrapped in your arms.
my heart pounded, my eyes began to fill.
slipping from your embrace, i ran for the hills.
