how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first 

url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order

url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes 

url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc

url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly 

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant) 

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog! 

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks. 

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

comments on fanfics

I thought about writing this post for a long time and decided, fuck it, I'm gonna write this.

All over my dash I see people being disappointed because nobody is leaving comments on ao3 anymore/rebloging things on tumblr.

And the only thing I can think about this is: it's so true.

Two weeks ago I posted the epilog of my 60k words fanfic (I've been writing on it for almost a year and got some positive feedback on it) and I got ZERO comments, or kudos on the epilog.

I can see that people kicked on it, but I have no idea whether they liked it or not. (And I used to get a comment on my story now and then)

Last week I posted the first extra chapter (I planned three of these) and also got no reaction.

No I'm just sitting here, wondering if my writing is just true shit.

This is also the reason I was hesitate to post this. Maybe it's not the people and just that shithole of a story I've been writing.

Things like are just running around my head now and must say that the motivation to even finish those extra chapters is gone.

GUYS, IF YOU LIKE A FANFIC PLEASE LET THE AUTHOR KNOW, IT MEANS SO MUCH TO THEM.

So if you read a good story, not some bullshit like mine, write that comment.

Risotto was a eel, I think it was it's own fic and not in a one-shot collection and it was two chapters with the second being smut.

Started it years ago (probably not too long after starting this blog) and kinda gave up. It was with Illuso. Basically ghost darling wanting to get revenge on her husband who poisoned them for the money. Unfortunately the husband brought in his new partner and her kid. Now darling has the dilemma of trying to get revenge while also trying to somehow get her and the kid to leave. Unfortunately Illuso wants to kill them all.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Tim Burtons earlier works and au potential is quite strong.

Alright finally let’s do something for this guy, I rather enjoyed his character the little bit he was in SBR. Little bit of speculation on my part of how I think Blackmore works Yandere, hope you don’t mind!

Yandere! Blackmore

Being the calm analytical type, he starts off casually remembering little things about you. Frivolous details most others wouldn’t pay much mind to, such as your hand writing. How you might write a letter versus the next person he sees in the room. Which he finds pretty important considering how loyal he is to Funny Valentine. Although your style of doing things seems to stick out to him.

It builds up over time as he keeps note of more things that don’t seem very pertinent to his work. (You don’t even have to be working for the government either). When Blackmore has more free time on his hands he spends his time unraveling his feelings towards you, perhaps he should do research just to see where you’re around.

He’ll dig up anything immediate family or cousins, friends, acquaintances, and eventually he finds himself popping up somewhere you might need to get supplies from. Something casual no matter whether you stay at home or work. From there, he might overhear a conversation or two. Something clicks once again and he finds another quirk about your voice. Whether you have a lisp, an accent, or mispronounce something he finds it cute.

He’s certainly a stalker type taking his time to get to know all your strengths and weaknesses. Blackmore is careful to not make you aware of his presence completely, and most certainly takes advantage of utilizing Catch the Rainbow when the weather is fitting for it.

As for anyone else you interact with, he is rather blasé about their relationship with you. No, they’re not really all that interesting to be talking to you in the first place. Though he does keep in mind how often they interact with you, and where they place relationship wise, platonically or romantically. If it’s the later he may see to it, that he may have to intervene eventually if he truly wants to pursue you.

He’ll catch you out in the rain one day, making it appear as if he had crossed paths with you for the first time. Did you perhaps slip and fall in the mud that had formed during this unsettled weather? Or perhaps you needed a reprieve from the sudden downpour with his umbrella. He can give off an unsettling disposition as he softly offers to help you out, but personally tries to encourage you to take him up on his offer.

Since he’s stalked you for long enough to get a soft profile of your personality, Blackmore is firm to strike a casual conversation that piques your interest. All while being unassuming to a stranger or even a close family member.

He won’t hesitate to take out anyone he believes to be a threat to his pursuit of you. The way he does it, he will find a way to frame it as a mere accident or a conflict with a different person they may have had tension with. Keeping in mind your reactions and your emotions all while doing so.

Even if at the slightest possibility of you getting cold feet and running off, he refuses to let you get away. It takes a lot of tact and patience, but he’ll find a way to manipulate things to his advantage. Somehow getting authority to look after you depending on how he plays his cards. He doesn’t mind if you start having chills at his ‘scuse me when he ends up saying it. This man adores you either way, but he simply won’t have it of you going off to someone else. So there is a small chance he might use Catch the Rainbow against you but merely for subduing you (pending on the situation).

The Maystone mangler pt2

Usually, you'd sleep in on Sunday but today you were up getting dressed in the best and most modest outfit possible. You hadn't attended church since you lived with your parents but you decided you probably should, considering you didn't go out much. Perhaps you'd have the opportunity to get to know some of the townsfolk better.

You looked at yourself in the mirror, checking if your outfit was suitable enough before leaving your bedroom and entering the kitchen.

You turned the light on and stared at it for a moment. It was still flickering, you'd have to buy a new light bulb at some stage.

You grabbed some bread and put it in the toaster before grabbing some spread. While you waited you made your way to the front door and grabbed the newspaper. You put the paper on the dining table on your way back to the kitchen, open the fridge, and grab a carton of juice. You pour yourself a cup before grabbing your toast, putting it on a plate, putting on the spread, and making your way to the dining table.

You sit down and take a bite of toast as you begin to read the news. Nothing really catches your attention. It kind of makes you miss the city news, sure it wasn't all good but gave you something to think about. You sip your juice and finish eating before you leave.

The morning sermon ended and everyone flocked outside where they grouped up to socialize. You were surprised, when you were a kid everyone was desperate to leave the second the sermon was finished but here everyone seemed to get along with one another.

Honestly, you felt a little out of place. All these people who'd probably known each other their entire lives and you were just some stranger.

“Oh (Y/n) it's good to see you here today” a sweet southern voice that you immediately knew.

“Oh hello Mauve” you greeted as you turned to her direction where she stood with Blackmore who was obviously dressed in his Sunday best. Black dress pants, a white button-up shirt, and a dark blue tie that he was currently fiddling with in his hand.

“And hello Blackmore” you greeted him too. His expression brightened immediately.

“So what brought you to church today?” she asked you.

“Well I finished up with most of the house maintenance and I thought I'd get to know my community more” you replied.

“Oh you poor thing, you tried fixing up that old

house all by yourself” she said as she put your hands in yours.

“You know you can ask all of us here in town if you need any help” she assured you.

“T-thank you” you stuttered, feeling a little embarrassed.

“Blackmore and I were going to head to the diner for breakfast if you want to join,” she offered and you accepted.

You followed them both for 5 or so minutes before you arrived. It was a small diner with a muted palette of browns and dark greens. You sat down at one of the stalls and a waiter quickly handed you all the menus.

You looked at the menu trying to figure out what to eat but you couldn’t decide.

“Do you know what you want (Y/n)?” Mauve asked.

You looked down at the menu, it was massive. And you had already eaten an early breakfast so you weren't too hungry.

“I might just get the standard bacon and eggs and coffee” you replied.

“Are you sure that'll be enough for you?” She asked.

“Yeah, I had some toast before I left” you replied.

“And you want your usual?” Mauve asked as she turned to Blackmore.

“Yes please,” he said.

“Are you ready to order?” the waitress asked. You turned to face her to reply. She was young no older than 14. She had shoulder-length blonde hair and deep blue eyes.

“Oh good morning Lucy, I was wondering why you weren't with Steven this morning” Mauve greeted her.

“Martin called in sick so I offered to take over his shift this morning” she explained.

“anyways what can I get you guys?” She asked.

“Could I get two teas and a coffee, eggs Benedict with a side of mushrooms, the berry waffles, and bacon and eggs?” she told Lucy before you had the chance to tell her your order. Lucy quickly jotted the order in her notebook.

“And how would you like your eggs? Boiled, fried or scrambled?” Lucy asked you.

“fried please” you asked.

“No problem,” she told you.

“I'll have your drinks in a minute,” she told you before leaving.

“Lucy's an absolute sweetheart, she came here only a year ago after she was adopted by the Steels. She's been saving up to go to a nice college and become an English teacher” she told you.

“That's some dedication, when I was her age I had no idea what I wanted to do” you replied.

Shortly after Lucy came back with both a tea and coffee pot along with cups, carefully placing them down while balancing the tray in one hand.

“Food will be out in a few minutes” she assured you before leaving again.

“So (y/n) have you had enough time to explore Maystone?” Mauve asked you as she poured herself and Blackmore some tea.

“A little bit, mostly central,” you replied.

“Oh dear you've been missing out, the best sites are just a little outwards. About a decade ago we'd go hiking in the woods just a bit south of here. The lake was just gorgeous” she told you. Looking at Blackmore there was a somber expression on his face.

“The boys would fish there for hours” she sighed, reminiscing. You could tell that there was a sadness to it. Then you remembered what Magenta said about Frederik.

After breakfast, you both headed home. When they returned Blackmore went into his room and sank into the double bed, the quilted blanket his mother made pretty much absorbing him. He never was fond of getting up early. Nowadays he didn't really have the luxury of sleeping in but it was a small price to pay to help his mother. So on Sundays, he'd take a nap after church. He closed his eyes only to get startled by a knock on the door.

“Yes, mom?” He asked while sitting up. She opened the door and stood by the doorway.

“Isn't (y/n) so lovely?” she said.

“Um… yes!” he blurted a little flustered.

“You should try talking a little more, I know you want to get to know them better” she spoke sweetly. It was true, he did want to get to know you better but he was absolutely terrible at socializing. Always had been.

“I'm sure they'd really appreciate your company, after all, everything here is entirely new to them" she continued.

"Maybe take them to the old inn for the monthly get-together?” She suggested. He blushed a little at the thought but then he shook his head.

“But what about you? if you were to get hurt I wouldn't be there to help you” he asked. He knew his mom never attended, the idea of leaving her alone and her getting hurt terrified him.

“Blackmore, sweetheart… you shouldn't worry so much about me, live a little for yourself” she said as she came over and hugged him.

“I know it's been tough with everything that's happened, but you've got to set your sights on the future,” she told him before kissing him on the forehead before she got up and made her way out.

“Also I came to tell you I'm putting on some lamb shanks for tonight,” she told him before closing the door.

Grim Yandere Tales

Hansel and Gretel (NO incest!): Reader is the mother who takes her children and runs from her abusive husband, with Leone and/or Bruno as the Witch (She adopted her children, who are Giorno, Narancia and maybe Trish)

Aladdin (I think you’ll like this): Reader is the street rat, Diavolo is the Sultan, Giorno and Bruno are visiting Royalty (Who plan to try and free Diavolo’s people either by killing him or taking his throne), Risotto is the sorcerer and Mista is the Genie

Thumbelina: Reader is a small human who was discovered by the Fairy Prince Bruno, only to be seen by Risotto/Doppio who’s either a normal human or a Dark Fae who wants her for himself

Movies

Dracula: Count Risotto and Bruno (With Reader being his fiancée)

Sleepy Hollow: Dio as the Headless Horseman

Corpse Bride: Not sure yet, what do you think?

I mentioned Diavolo, Bruno and Risotto a lot because there my favorites (It’s hard to stray from them)

I'm sorry I took so long to respond, been really busy lately packing.

I've actually had ideas for thumbelina and and corpse bride for a while now but never managed to get them written down so I'll cover those first

Thumbalina

I was thinking that Bruno would attempt to save darling. Thinking that they were another fae captured by a human. Darling explains the situation. It's revealed they're a fae who'd probably been taken far from their home. Bruno offers to take Darling back with him so they can be where they belong and get a pair of wings. Darling is hesitant on the idea and tells him they need a week to decide.

During that week two things could happen.

Another fae named doppio meets darling. Reader is unaware he's a dark fae, so when he asks them to help him and that he'll return them home straight after they agree non the wiser

Or

Darling is discovered by Risotto after their mother leaves for an emergency and is quickly snatched away. Initially he's looking to sell them for money but soon starts to fall for them and decides to keep them for himself

Corpse bride

Honestly I think Fugo. He was born into a wealthy lifestyle but could not stand the family around him. Believed he'd found love but in reality it was all a set up that lead to his death.

Darling is forced into marrying into wealth but doesn't want to. Tries running away into the forest and comes in possession of the now cursed ring originally meant for that first love that causes him to awaken and subsequently gets trapped in the underworld.

Hansel and Gretel

Ok so reader initially ran and hid away in a town. During this she took in the three. Their upbringings similar to canon. Narancia is 10 and had an eye infection that Darling was trying to earn the money to treat. Giorno and Trish are 8.

After being found by their ex again they run in the forest in night. For what seems like hours they keep going until they find a house with a door wide open and lights on.

They all go inside and call out to the owner but no response. Darling would try to leave but it's evident that the kids are too tired to keep running. So Darling decides to tuck them into one of the beds and wait for the owner to explain, however they fall asleep shortly after.

Now it could be either or a poly situation with both.

Bruno would be more outwardly willing to help while Abbacchio though still helping would be a bit more stern.

Darling wakes up in the morning where they meet the house owner and explain the situation. They're offered the spare bedrooms to stay in. Darling initially refuses the offer as they have to keep running. The kids wake up and it's immediately noticed that narancias eye's swelling has reduced. And that is how Darling would be hooked into staying.

Aladdin

Darling and her family used to be farmers but after harsh heatwaves are left with little to nothing left and Diavolo the newly crowned sultan attempts to arrange a marriage with darling but due to their hatred of the new sultan they refuse. After stealing food from traders they're caught and imprisoned and Risotto confronts them. He explains that he too hates Diavolo and that if darling were to help him retrieve a powerful artifact that he would offer them enough riches to let their family live without working another day in their life when he takes over.

So darling agrees but only if he allows them ownership of a particularly expensive ring he has until he fulfills his end of the deal.

So darling helps Risotto grab the artifact, some old lamp that they don't see any purpose of. As they're about to leave Risotto attempts to help them escape but the floor caves beneath darling and they fall in and he leaves.

Awhile after darling is found by Giorno and Bruno who have ropes to help darling escape and bring them back into town. They reveal they're both royalty from another land who've come to try and establish a trade route. However upon entering town they're meet by Diavolo who quickly has darling arrested, telling them that they're luck they weren't attacked as they have a record of stealing from traders and the like. The lamp being left in the hands of the two.

Dracula

Bruno and darling come to transylvania after receiving a letter from count Nero who wants to relocate to London and help with selling the castle.

They arrive and discuss with the count. Bruno and darling discuss the state of the castle and come to the conclusion that sell to the count will be easy however it'd take some work to clean areas of the castle to get photos good enough to try and convince potential buyers.

They're warned not to leave the bedroom at night however one night darling hears a scream in the night. Bruno is still asleep so they investigate on their own. They encounter Risotto while he's feasting and is pretty much frozen in fear. The next morning Bruno finds that both his fiancee and the count are gone. Bruno investigates only to find a journal written by the count that reveals the truth.

Headless horsemen

(Have not watched sleepy hollow unfortunately)

Darling is an aspiring novelist who moves into a small town after getting inheritance. They hope that the local legends will fuel their inspiration. Locals warn them they shouldn't be outside at nightfall. They investigate one night and grabbed by who the locals refer to as the headless horseman and dragged into the thick fog.

Jekyll and Hyde

Bruno is a detective who is trying to solve a string of crimes connected to a mysterious Diavolo. Darling a close friend to both bruno and Doppio (though doppio and bruno are only acquainted) begins to get stalked and eventually kidnapped. Now Doppio needs to hide them away from investigators as if he doesn't Diavolo vow to ruin their lives.

Labyrinth

I'd probably say Diavolo is best for the role of Jareth. Honestly this one will probably be as close to the movie as it gets from me.

Legend

Giorno and darling are taking a stroll through the forest when all of a sudden the weather changes to a harsh snow storm and are separated. Darling stumbles across the scene of doppio and the unicorn, hearing what he says to himself they decide to follow the man back to the castle after hearing all that is needed they attempt to leave only to be caught by Doppio.

Originally locked in the dungeon she is eventually moved to a room in the castle and is free to wonder. Given various gifts with letters of proposal until Diavolo decides to meet her in person.
