The galleon has been a complex subject for decades relative to structure and design. Through extensive research (from contemporary ships of MAYFLOWER and GOLDEN HIND), I utilized both as the foundation for the build of this model. But not without the documents/plans of the contemporary HALF MOON of 1989.
With these three elements, along with the acquired materials, it was a personal call to finally pursue the REVENGE...a deadly yet beautiful ship of her time. The video I just produced will highlight the undertaking that began in New England in the township of Southbridge, Massachusetts in 2010. Artist hands are most sacred and should never be taken for granted. Without them, the artist is nothing.

The art of transforming a damaged Airfix kit into a work of art…this vintage Saint Louis model was inspired by viewing the BBC series “Three Musketeers” and catching the scene where King Louis admirably viewed his new ship that would establish the first navy of France. USS Constitution in Boston, MA celebrated its 226th anniversary yesterday, marking the day October 21st, 1797 as the moment of her launching. Some thirty years ago I produced this one of a kind wood diorama of her crew members -circa the War of 1812. But prior to that she had her first engagement in Tripoli c.1805.
So many people from all walks of life enjoyed viewing this work, so before I sell it I feel it's best to reach another audience on the social networks. The video can be viewed here https://youtube.com/watch?v=wv0_HC0cwrM .

Urban Life In Pencil...
As a noted artist here in Albany, New York I have enjoyed the opportunity to create the people and places that made it possible. Different personalities, but all the same community. Different structures and neighborhoods, but unique in the way modern embraced the traditional. These pencils reflect this in the various shading. I continue to do this 'today'. Thanks for viewing!

Here, I post a piece that's on its way to a collector in New England. A work which I hand carved entirely of pine (with basswood accents). The work represent America's whaling industry during its early Industrial Age. The video can be viewed here https://youtube.com/watch?v=6523G6QCIUk .

Twenty Mule Team Wagon Model... Part One
I am an artist not just about maritime and/or ship models; but one that covers several areas (or genres). This wood diorama of the borax team wagons is one of them. However, my focus is on home decor where this type of work can be showcased.

Art of the artist Rex Stewart - Part One
Many get the impression that I’m all about ships. But, the fact of the matter is that I’m an artist that happened to indulge in the medium of ship models. This is one of a four part series showing the diverse line of artistry which started from youth. Enjoy...and thanks for viewing!
