Wah!
I didn’t know Tumblr secretly took your blog down when you weren’t looking.
Tumblr media
But now someone nice reminded me that this was here - or rather, that it wasn’t here - and it’s back!
Yay.

Exciting News!
Uwaaaaaaaaa, I haven’t updated in a while!
Blogging isn’t something that comes naturally to Rainy so we fell into another looong silent spell.
But now, it’s different! Because we have important update news!
Rainyday’s received a lot of requests to put ~male desperation~ into Aquarius, but it’s really problematic to do because Rainy already has lots of the setting planned out, and male desperation wouldn’t really fit.
That’s when someone suggested a great idea, though: If male desperation wouldn’t fit in the main Aquarius game, Rainy should just make an alternate version!
So now I’m announcing Rainy’s new side project: ‘Aquarius: Mars Version’!
Tumblr media
Mars Version is basically the main Aquarius game with the same story and mechanics and things, but there’s one important difference!
Tumblr media
It’s set in a straaaannngggeee hypothetical world where Chrona and I are boys instead!
Tumblr media
It’s not just a picture-swap, either! Rainy’s rewritten a whole lot of the text to make Rio and Chronos interact with the world properly! It’s the same game, but a different flavor!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From now on, Rainy’s going to work on both these versions side by side, since even though they have different graphics and text, the programming and maps and things don’t need to be changed. It’s much easier than working on a whole separate game!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, um, of course... since it’s the main point of Version Mars, Rio and Chronos will get a lot of... those kinds of scenes. I really sympathize with them. (。﹏。✿)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rainy’s even said that um... since it’s a bit different for guys in various ways they’ll have some exclusive scenes that Chrona and I won’t have because... there are some things we can’t do.
There are a lot of interesting opportunities.
So, Aquarius: Mars Version will get released at the same time as the next update of the main game! Everyone look forward to it!
Edit: Umm, I remembered to say it everywhere except here. This was an April Fool’s joke! Rainy did get kinda close to making it an actual thing to release one April, though...

Calming down a bit.
Uwaaa, hopefully I didn't make people get too excited. Rainy way excited, though.
Rainy has looked through the new release and while a few new features and a lot of unused art resources have been added to the game, the trial ends at the same place as last time.
So for the most part, it's just an engine update!
Quite a cool one, all the same.

Isn't it kind of hard to move around in that dress when you're on a field trip (especially combat field trip)? I'd use something like shorts, they're comfy and easy to wear!
Ahhhh, it's okay, since I fight long-range I don't really need to move much. It's not a tight skirt either, so sometimes I hardly notice it.
Shorts... hmmm, I do have some, but... they don't really fit me, I guess.
....I-In the image sense! I mean they don't fit my image!
I'm not really active or tough enough to pull it off, and I think I'd just look silly if I tried to wear them...

Hello rainyday! Just curious about some things. How long have you been developing aquarius ? I am wondering because it has been 2 years ( 3 years in 3 months time) since you released the demo for aquarius. So for one man to take such a long time to develop a game, I also wonder how long it takes for indie games to develop as it seems game development can take a long time especially only one person works on it. I am not rushing you or anything! I am just curious. Keep up the good work!
Rainyday has been developing Aquarius for a loooonnnng while actually (At least a year before the demo came out), but really, ummm... that's not a very good indication of things because often Rainyday goes for a month or two without working on Aquarius and then regrets it afterwards.
The real amount of time that's been collectively spent working on it is a complete mystery, even to Rainy!
Ahahaha.
But yes, the best answer would really be that it depends on the person. And to make sure that you keep up good progress and don't take forever, Rainy wants to re-iterate point (1) made in this post about not worrying about getting it perfect first time - that includes the other aspects of the game as well!
One of the reasons this next release is taking so long is because Rainy's decided to rebuild a few of the core systems from scratch now...
Also, as a small correction, Rainyday isn't quiiitteee working on Aquarius alone anymore! There's a nice and cosy Aquarius team that has fun conversations. Even though at the end of the day Rainy still ends up doing all the work alone, the company is appreciated!
(And special thanks to the people who actually have done stuff: Tomato for a lot of great music, Unendingempire for more great music, and 45page-tan for really helpful technical advice!)

Hello Rainyday, what happened to the translation of the manga Idol wa XXXX Nante Shimasen?
Hmmm, Rainyday did work on that for a while but in the end I don't think they're doing that any more.
It was a fun series to work on, but then more complications and things came up, and Rainy's final words on it are here.
Though on another note, every now and then Rainy feels sort of motivated to work on more of Girigiri Out, which is much easier, but after doing chapter 1 all by themself (with a bit of help from Lisk), Rainy decided as a rule not to do anymore unless a real translator appeared.
(Raws up to chapter 8 are here!
And this is the main website for them!)

Question. How are Aquarius' artwork drawings made? Any program in particular? I want to add my own drawings to my RPG on Ace, but I... pretty much suck at coloring and yeah. What is it used here?
Hmmmm, the predicament of many developers.
To directly answer your question, Rainyday uses a program called Paint tool SAI to do most of the drawings, and then sometimes touches them up in GIMP or Photoshop. Rainy uses a drawing tablet - having one is pretty important for digital art - but Rainy's is really old and secondhand. It's amazing that it's still good after this long!
Howevvveeerrrr, you shouldn't think that the right choice of tools and programs will automatically make you better. Drawing ability comes from inside yourself, so you have to try your best!
There are still some very useful tips that Rainy can give, though:
1) Don't worry about getting drawings perfect! I don't think any artist ever thinks their work is good enough to meet their own standard, but that's okay, because that's what motivates people to get better. You're making a game, so recognize when a drawing is 'good enough' for its job and then stick with it and move on. You can always redraw it later - it's just important to not let it be a hurdle that's keeping you stuck!Rainyday also couldn't really do coloring when they first started, and it's something they picked up on the way. Maybe.2) Draw biiiig! Even if you're going to shrink it small to use in your game, draw it at least two to four times the size you're going to use it at! It makes it much easier to put in the detail, and also gives more allowance for mistakes. This really applies to all of digital drawing in general.

Ask more if you need to, and good luck!

Uwaaa, it seems that there were actually many more things to be done than Rainy remembered to put on the checklist.
But they're getting done! At a somewhat steady pace.
Most notably, Rainyday recently tried implementing an interesting visual mechanic inspired by a different omo RPG, and found it was quite feasible to do and looked really nice - I think a lot of people will like it!
As for what exactly that is... that's a surprise.

Hello! I need some tutoring on programming some stuff on RPG Maker. I would try the tutorials on youtube and stuff, but what I'm needing is a little too specific. Could I get help here?
Of course we'll try to help however we can!
Rainy wants to support the english omo rpg community and help it grow.
So, feel free to use any of the contact methods I mentioned in my last post. Good luck!
(And Rainyday's home internet got better a while back. But times are still busy (。﹏。✿) D-Don't let that put you off asking, though! )

To the anonymous person who sent a three-part message:
Uwaaa, because it was an anonymous ask, this is the only way I think I can reply.
First, as you thought, the middle part didn't get through, so I haven't got everything you wanted to say. (But I didn't know that tumblr blocks questions that have links in them! That actually explains a lot!)
It sounds like it would be useful and fun to talk about things though, so I'll list a few ways of contacting Rainy!
1) If you have a tumblr account then I could reply to your messages without publishing them. 2) Send Rainyday a private message on omorashi.org ; though I think the site requires some posts before you're allowed to do that so this might not be the most convenient way. 3) If you know how to use IRC, Rainy often idles on Rizon in the RPG maker channel, #/vgrpg/ . 4) Last but not least, there's simple email: [email protected]
...Rainy's home internet actually broke this afternoon so 3) might not work and the others could have a reply delay, but I'm sure if you send it to one of the above, it'll eventually get seen. Good luck!

Lillica ;_;✿
Tumblr media
Rainyday finally gathered enough power to draw and write a finale to the first story section of Lillica Quest! It's the biggest update so far, as well as being an exciting climax sort of thing, so don't miss it by accident!
Also, that makes me realize I actually never wrote an introduction post about that, so I'll detail it here!
Tumblr media
Lillica Quest is Rainyday's experimental illustrated forum choose-your-own-adventure desperation/omorashi story, and as I just mentioned, the first part has just been wrapped up, so now's a good time to start!
...Actually the whole thing is pretty self-explanatory, so I don't need to say as much as I expected. Rainy put together some picture collections so I'll just include them in the expanded post.
==================
Tumblr media
Rainyday's artstyle developing (Also shifting priorities from speed to quality which was a slightly dubious decision)
Tumblr media
Sometimes Rainyday forgets that Lillica Quest is an omorashi story and not a surreal battle manga. But that's okay.
Tumblr media
Also, there's lewd. Always lewd, especially towards the end.
If you're starting for the first time, there's a compiled version so you don't need to swim through all the people in the forum getting confused or discussing strategy.
You fought hard, Lillica. Good luck for the future!

One of Rainyday's associates released a game of their own, and it looks really exciting!
Rainy also helped playtest an earlier version of it; the amount of effort Mr Commando put in really shows! He deserves a big congratulations.
And so it’s here.

The game was promised and here it is. The Sanguinary Emissary. A horror-themed RPG featuring a desperation system, wetting, peeing and all that good stuff. You take on the role of sisters Emma and Leila O’Neill as they enter a spooky mansion in the hopes of rescuing their...

It's heeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeee!
Tumblr media
Thanks to the efforts of the amazing translator Lisk, we finally have a fully english demo of the omorashi RPG, MojiQuest!
Now, I wrote a lot about this game back here, so I'll just give a quick overview: It's a great fantasy omorashi RPG made by Aoi Kurage with super-impressive production values and fun characters. Even though this is just a demo version, it has a good few hours of playtime!
Tumblr media
And, well, plenty of lewd content too.
Tumblr media
Definitely a must-play for anyone interested in the genre! You should check my earlier post about it because it needs gifs to do it justice!
Tumblr media
Anyway, here are a lot of mirror links: Mega
Multiup
Omorashi.org (This generally has the latest version with all the typo/grammar fixes)
And of course, don't forget you need japanese unicode settings and the RPG Maker XP RTP to run it!
