Ruth and Nancy had to wait half an hour. Then the name “Richard Ramirez” was called over the loudspeaker, booming and echoing over the din of the crowded room. At the sound of that name, everyone became quiet, even the children. Slowly, hesitantly, Ruth stood and walked through the thick silence toward the visiting booth “where her brother had been seated. Every pair of eyes was on her. Nancy didn’t stand, and Ruth walked alone. She found her brother sitting on the other side of a thick, smudged glass partition set into a cement wall. She could talk to him only over a phone. 

When Richard saw his sister, he started to cry. Quickly she picked up the phone and said, “No enseñes el cobre, ” a phrase her father had always used, which meant, “Don’t show your inner feelings.” Richard understood and pushed away the weakness, which quickly turned to anger.

“One day I asked Richard Ramirez, convicted Night Stalker. “How are you doing?” He said, “Pissed Really pissed. Some days I wake up angry, so angry I know I’m going to get into trouble here and I can’t stop myself” In another conversation, he disagreed with me that everyone born pure and innocent and good “Some​ men have​ no moral , no honor, no scruples,” he said. In another conversation, when I asked him to talk about some of his childhood trauma, he said “I know enough about psychoanalysis to know what you want of me. Right​ now im strong You want me to remember things with you, but the mind is like a jig-saw puzzle, you take one piece out and the rest will fall apart. And where will you be then? You won’t be here to pick up pieces.” Richard was very protective of his parents, which caused me to realize that no one honors thy father and mother like a serial killer I have been checking that hypothesis since then and it almost always proves true. They endure and repress more trauma than anyone else. From this insight, I deduced that no killer or violent criminal can be said to be rehabilitated if they are still protecting their parents.“
