hot take that nini wasn’t an empowered young women + boss bitch when she said things like ‘i love you ricky but i didn’t come home for you’ bc she was actively ignoring ricky’s initiatives to communicate that there was something wrong/a disconnect in their relationship and that this kind of behaviour was both toxic to the growth that she wants for herself and ricky as a vulnerable teenage boy + someone she loves (also noting this take’s dichotomoy with the fact that although ricky’s s1 arc was all about learning how to communicate in a healthy matter, nini’s arc focused much more about her standing on her own two feet and so she’s not very well versed in how to do it well BUT ALSO that them breaking up was the worst way they could have handled her blatant selfishness and her pseudo-gaslighting of ricky’s character) sorry not sorry

honestly ej and gina are peak fictional romance?? they went from enemies to evil cohorts (where they went to the dance together) to friends to fake dating to gina wearing his clothes to the “oh my god i have feelings for you” realization to “do you want to get risotto with me? for real this time?” all while having callbacks to previous portwell things like “not that i know of,” the risotto, team wonderstudy, airports being their thing (ej buying her a ticket and then picking her up from the airport), the duke sweatshirt, and a GRANOLA BAR. i’m so in love with them oh my god

i’m compelled to point out that you don’t have to be ashamed of stanning ej. he’s a kid who grew from his mistakes - he understood that he was manipulative of nini in an almost dangerous way and he apologized for it! he continues to make active changes to his behavior and i loVE TO SEE IT. it’s so important for kids to understand that toxicity and manipulative behaviour can be actively eradicated from your personality or personal tendencies if you put in the work - and ej is/has been putting in the work. he’s a teenager who’s LEARNT that he was being a red flag boyfriend, he has REFLECTED and APOLOGIZED. 

he’s a that’s teenager growing and learning - cancel culture shouldn’t exist for him bc he’s actually GROWING and that’s what we want!! ej happy and healthy and wholesome is what we want. stan ej - he’s wholesome and pretty and some of the best comedy in the hsmtmts eps right now. and he clearly has more depth that will be explored if he’s in s2 (which i’m sure he will be).
