Who was St. Thérèse? :o

St. Thérèse of Lisieux (also called the Little Flower, of the Child Jesus, etc) was a French Catholic Carmelite nun and Doctor of the Church! Doctors of the Church are saints that are considered to have contributed significantly to theology. like an honorary saint PhD. she lived in the late 1800s and died of tuberculosis at age 24.

She’s famous for her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, where she talks about something that’s come to be called “the little way.” In general it’s a path to sainthood where you are... EXTREMELY NICE. every little kindness you do you offer up to God. it’s seen as a way to holiness for the ordinary person, without ever doing any great acts or being martyred or something. also she’s got a huge rose motif, which I enjoy.

some of my favorite facts about her are that (1) she begged the pope to allow her to become a nun earlier than is usually allowed, despite being explicitly told not to do so, and she had to be dragged away by guards, and (2) that time she dressed up as St. Joan of Arc (my brother jokes that she should be made the patron saint of cosplayers, lmao)

I'm turning 30!!!

it's wild to think i've reached this landmark, but im pleased to say it doesn't scare me and i don't feel ashamed or embarrassed about it, like so many have learned to feel about their 30ths.

i don't expect anything, but it would make my decade if i got even one gift from my wishlist!

there's a few very important essentials in there, as well as some just plain fun stuff. i wish it wasn't on am*zon, but try as i might, i couldn't find any alternatives. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
