a farewell and a hello.
rivkahstudies -> incipitinterpreter
So this is probably not a surprise in the wake of my hiatus, but I am relinquishing rivkahstudies to an archive and moving accounts to the url @inicipitinterpreter.
What does this mean? Are you leaving studyblr?
Yes, and also no. For those who know me well or have followed my journey closely, I began this studyblr in junior year of high school. I was using it to prepare for the transition from International Baccalaureate to university. As my interest in language flourished, so did the diversity of my content.
However, with the following I accumulated (I still can’t believe there’s nearly seven thousand of you) this blog could not grow at the rate that I was. @incipitinterpreter is a space for the individual I am growing into, rather than the young, people-pleasing student I was before. Moreover, I felt deeply embittered and jaded by the things I witnessed and endured (and am still enduring) in the COVID-19 pandemic, from broken institutions to inaccessible education systems. I hated romanticizing “the grind” for young, impressionable students like I once was, especially minors.
You all may have seen some of the advocating I have done for honest/imperfect studyblr pictures and accounts, as well as critiquing the limits and inequities of our current education systems. Unfortunately, my old aesthetic posts still circulate, the ones that stressed me out until I got the Perfect Angle, and I would like to lay them to rest, or at least no longer be notified of them.
All of these factors culminated in true dread every time I open this blog. To truly depart from these old performances, I need to retire rivkahstudies and go through a study and work journey that is more authentic to my principles.
What does this mean for your content, and this blog?
@incipitinterpreter will be a langblr/lingblr/workblr. I am in my final year of undergraduate studies, so my focuses will be:
gaining higher proficiency in my languages for the purpose of interpretation certification,
providing/reblogging resources to that end as well as general anthropology and linguistics content,
applying for jobs and reblogging resources for professional life,
sharing my realistic experience with both study and work, appreciating the small things in life that I can romanticize without glamorizing “the grind” or pretending my journey is flawless.
rivkahstudies will not be deactivated, at least not yet. I will be using it as a personal archive, especially to find resources I saved (and boy did I save a lot). You may see some more personal content get purged gradually over time. Asks may or may not be answered or screenshotted for @incipitinterpreter.
What will happen to your servers, Study Solidarity and the Language Accountability Project?
Study Solidarity is still active, albeit a bit dead due to most classes not being in session.
I still intend for LAP to be rebooted, but I will be modding by myself or with one other person, so this will likely turn into a small, tightly-knit community rather than a large resource hub. Further information/applications/etc will be on @incipitinterpreter in the future.
In conclusion
One of my favorite things to remind myself is that one of the only constants in life is change. I am deeply grateful for the welcoming community I’ve been a part of for four years! I am so proud of my accomplishments and how rivkahstudies has grown in both following and content. But this blog has a lot of history behind it too, and I don’t want to write over it or delete it hurriedly without first going through for my own purposes. I think having a conversation with one’s past selves is important and healing.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me all this time, and I hope you consider following my new blog and journey.

Futuro imediato e futuro do presente
Tumblr media
To talk about things that will happen in the future we use futuro imediato and futuro do presente.
Futuro imediato
This tense is used for everyday normal conversations.
O que você vai fazer depois do jantar? [What are you going to do after dinner?].
Eu vou ver um filme na TV. [I'm going to watch a movie on TV].
sujeito + verbo ir conjugado + verbo no infinitivo + complemento
Eu não vou tomar o café-da-manhã. [I'm not going to have breakfast].
Você vai falar com sua irmã. [You're going to talk to your sister].
Amanhã, ela vai trabalhar depois do colégio. [Tomorrow, she's going to work after school].
O que nós vamos trazer da loja? [What are we going to bring from the store?]
Aonde vocês vão ir no feriado? [Where are you going to go on the holiday?]
Que hora eles vão jantar na casa do Paulo? [At what time are they going to dine at Paulo's house?]
Futuro do presente
This tense is used in texts and formal situations with no different meaning as futuro imediato.
Eu acordarei cedo e farei a lição de casa.
Verbos regulares
1°S - verbo no infinitivo + ei = acharei, correrei, imprimirei.
3°S - verbo no infinitivo + á = achará, correrá, imprimirá.
1°P - verbo no infinitivo + emos = acharemos, correremos, imprimiremos.
3°P - verbo no infinitivo + ão = acharão, correrão, imprimirão.
Some irregular verbs (the ending is the same as before, but the root changes)
Dizer: eu direi, você dirá, nós diremos, vocês dirão.
Fazer: eu farei, você fará, nós faremos, vocês farão.
Trazer: eu trarei, você trará, nós traremos, vocês trarão.
Pôr: eu porei, você porá, nós poremos, vocês porão.
sujeito + verbo conjugado + complemento
Eu pentarei meu cabelo. [I'll brush my hair].
Você enviará o correio hoje? [Will you send the post today?]
Ana voltará do Brasil na terça-feira. [Ana will come back from Brazil on Tuesday].
Nós nunca seremos arquitetos. [We'll never be architects].
Vocês adorarão Mexico pela comida. [You will love Mexico for the food].
Os estudantes aprenderão muito no museu. [The students will learn a lot at the museum].
Até mais!

im very late but are there any terfs in studyblr that we know of (as in their urls)? i couldnt find a studyblr-specific block list and it kinda worries me as a trans person who recently started studyblr
Uhhh I'm not sure what you're late to (I've been on hiatus) but not that I know of nonnie. Studyblr has been a pretty accepting and diverse place for me to be in as a queer person. I've only had to block random users from miscellaneous tumblr posts.

i wanted to do rivkahstudies's end of semester asks
1) was there anything that made you pause and reconsider how you go about your life?
i started this course on self development that really opened my eyes on how i wasn’t self responsible, and the fact that i should be, so i decided to stop investing my time and energy on my career as a designer and focus on psychology.
2) which period of your semester are you proudest of?
probably the beginning, for choosing a second graduation even though i know it takes a lot of effort and time. i’m proud of that.
3) did you nurture or discover any hobbies?
i started doing yoga and working out, which was nice but didn’t last long. i also cooked and journaled a bit.
4) what was your biggest challenge?
probably having a good relationship with classmates; i don’t have any friends yet, which is hard because classes are online.
5) did anything unintentionally amusing or entertaining come out of your area’s restrictions or response to COVID?
i actually enjoy studying at home, cause i manage to do a lot of stuff while i’m on my breaks from work, and i get to organize my schedule the way i want.
6) anything you’d like to fix for next semester?
doing more than professors ask, being more present during class, making friends.
7) how are you going to rest now that it’s over?
i’m going to focus on a career plan, write down all my digital notes, do some extra reading from this past semester’s classes.
8) if you could give advice to a younger student in your position, what would it be?
know the abnt rules, do your research for assignments, use canva on presentations, study on your own extra things related to the classes.
9) what was your biggest achievement this semester?
probably being able to find myself a study routine, cause i managed everything quite well.
10) do you feel like you improved on anything non-study-related?
yes, i always try to learn something new about myself and relationships and life, so i think this semester i learn to be more independent and prioritize myself and my wants and needs.
11) what did you do to keep the quarantine blues away?
i sang and listened to a lot of pop music, watched grey’s anatomy, worked a lot and spent time with my family, talked to friends on instagram, bought cute clothes.
12) did you get to go anywhere or do anything special even with the restrictions?
i did visit my friend’s in a different city once, after not seeing them for one and a half years, which was cool.
13) what’s something you want to remember after COVID is a thing of the past?
to be grateful for my family’s health, cause none of my close family members had covid, so that’s great.
14) how do you express yourself when things get stressful?
i get annoyed, i complain, i feel the need to talk to people i love, get that stress out of my chest and also take some time for myself, to just be quiet and alone.
15) do you feel like your hard work was recognized this semester? by whom?
in the first half of it, yes, but not so much in the second half of it; but it’s my first semester, so really there’s not much going on.
16) do you want to experiment with anything next semester?
i’ll be having more psychology focused classes, so i’ll try to study in a different way. i also want to start an instagram and document my journey, and work on some projects i have.
17) are you good at budgeting (time or money)?
both, i guess.
18) if you had a year off to do anything, what would it be?
i’d probably travel a bit, buy things i want (cause i never get myself anything) and work on my projects.
19) did you set any goals for yourself you couldn’t meet?
i wanted to study french, which i did for a while, but it just fell apart. i still want to learn it before i graduate.
20) what kind of learning feeds your brain when you have free time?
anything from psychologist’s instagram accounts.
thanks @rivkahstudies for this <3

Hey! I found your LAP discord through the tumblr search function and was just curious to see if an application to join ever became a thing, or if the server is still active? If not, that's totally fine! I just thought I'd ask as it appears to be what I'm looking for in a community!
Hi! I did assemble a mod team for it but with my hiatus and full time job it never took off. I will probably ask my mods if we still intend to relaunch it. I would be happy to dm you an application link/tag you in the post if we do.

Hi Rivkah! I know you probably won’t see this soon, but I just wanted to check in to see how your hiatus is going. I hope youre enjoying your summer <3
Hi honey! Thank you for this message. I'll be on hiatus until at least August 31, maybe longer. But I'm really enjoying my summer and work is keeping my busy <3 how are you?

With the term over, I pulled my schedule off my ephemera wall (aka the section of wall right above my desk) and now there’s a blank spot right in the middle that’s irking me. But as my therapist says, if you make space, then something will eventually come and fill it.
I started this wall about a year ago with no direction or plan and now we’re here. It’s a bit cluttered but everything - be it created or collected - has a memory attatched. I suppose there’s some sort of a charm about that.
