I woke up yesterday and thought “oooh, TSBU anniversary is coming up really soon right? It’s in the teens of March?” And then I checked and it was yesterday! And I didn’t post right then and then the day got away from me and I missed it.

So I’m celebrating belatedly!

It will be the most glorious day when this is finished, and while I continue to await it with bated breath, I remain so effing grateful for this incredible story and its author and for the utter simple joy it brings me upon every reread.

Hiya Tumblr Portwell friends! Did you miss me?

I'm working on a couple different projects right now, but this one is moving a little faster, so I decided to start posting in hopes of keeping the momentum going! (I am also working on the Cowboy Like Me AU, but I need to do some more research for that one.)

So, here it is, the Portwell Princess Diaries AU that no one asked for, but I'm going to write anyway!

On her 18th birthday, Gina Porter wasn't wishing for much. Maybe a cupcake with her friends, or flowers from her boyfriend (however unlikely that might be). The only wish she's ever really had, for her dad to still be alive, was obvously never going to come true.

But her world is turned upside down when a mysterious man with a strange European accent appears at her door with a letter and the surprise of a lifetime: Gina is actually a Princess of Portania, a small country in the Alps, a fact that her parents have concealed her entire life.

Now that she's an adult, it's up to her to decide if she wants to be a Princess, or if she'll give up her royal title like her father before her. Swept into a new world of opulance and complications, she has the help her cousin Ashlyn, the heir apparent to the Portania throne, and the handsome son of the King's most trusted royal advisor to teach her the ways of royal life. Will Gina find that in the end, she's princess material?

I’m severely needing a reread of something that brings me utter joy right now. Been an emotionally complex week (few weeks? Month? I don’t even know anymore)

Trying to decide if I pick up Romancing Mister Bridgerton again or open the laptop to that oldie but goodie (nay, BESTie!) by the queen @lovelyserpentines Then Somebody Bends Unexpectedly…

OR option 3 would be diving back into one of the maaaany brilliant @aroundthewaygirlao3 fics…

I know I’m probably in the minority, and I’m happy (sooooooo effing happy!) that we’re getting fabulous new content, however I’m over here fully ready for 1. Penelope to move on a little and 2. Colin to do the pining.

Like I saw this and felt like…I mean, we’ve seen her compliment and support and even fawn over him for two seasons. Let him chase please.

Also my one big gripe about series vs book Penelope is that book Penelope always ‘knew’ she didn’t have a chance with Colin, so while she loved him unrequited and from afar, she never got to a point of thinking “oh yeah, this is happening” and I felt like they did her real dirty in that department in S2. Like I was embarrassed for her, but felt like it was all a set up for the big fall with what she overheard, to knock him off the pedestal she’d held him on, AND to hear that and know her self-worth enough to feel she at least deserved better than for someone to dismiss the idea of courting her. But that clip is like…oh so she still thinks he hung the moon? Cool cool. Oh we get a clip of her fawning over him instead of vice versa? Cool cool.

I’m sure the season itself contains multitudes of a more even balance in that area 🤞🏻and I’m just ready for the season. We’ve waited so long, it’d better be PERFECT.

Lastly, it seems pretty obvious this moment is Colin giving her a ‘lesson’ that includes complimenting a suitor, probably even giving her a prompt to help like “you could say something about his eyes. Try it.” Just my hunch given how this clip begins. We’ll see!

I'd m--- I might say something like that if you were a suitor. Well, that was rather direct.
