i was in boston and went on one of those freedom trail tours where the guide is in full period costume. ours was a feisty older lady who pointed us down a tiny 18th century alleyway and told us "when you go in i'll lock the door behind you and it'll be like saw" she would truly do numbers on here

Audio
Some say forget the past, and some say don’t look back But for every breath you take, you’ll leave a track And though it don’t seem fair for every smile that breaks A tear must fall somewhere for the price you pay

“Nobody’s going to want to sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours to get from New York City to LA.”
Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.

i'm not gonna say anything that hasn't already been said but the man is a WORKHORSE. it's one thing to see in videos and another to behold in real life. i think he was just about warmed up by the promised land (10 songs in). he sounded incredible. and i know he's almost 75 and can't knee slide and jump on pianos like he used to and he had recent health problems, but honestly you'd never be able to tell. and so much of the show is about facing your own mortality and the mortality of the ones you love. but at the same time it's performed with so much energy and joy that it truly is life-affirming more than anything else.
i really just saw bruce with my own eyes

woke up this morning, rolled over, and very confidently tried to blow out my alarm clock like a candle. absolutely no precedent for that.
