28. Bramblestar/The Imposter

My detested. Firmly on the Squirrelflight protection squad, and the Imposter is a bastard.

First image is Bramblestar before the Imposter, and the second is the Imposter (beer belly Bramblestar? More likely than you think). Third image explained below.

Design notes: obvious hint in the eyes as to the imposter’s real identity (exact same pupil color and eye shine as the original idiots design), plus the bonus third reference of the scars the body received after getting absolutely WRECKED by Tigerstar. Please ignore that in the double sided (for lack of a better term for it) full bodys his ears are the same scars, I hated how the lineart looked when I tried to change it so use the head as reference for what side is what.

ppl always portray hollyleaf as like really skilled n sneaky when she kills ashfur, like some kind of hired assassin or something, and that’s cool an all like as she deserves but i think. i think that the scene would carry more weight if you remember that she was far younger than ashfur, far less experienced, probably smaller, and like she has never killed anyone before she doesn’t have any idea what she’s doing. also she’s scared out of her mind. like she hates ashfur but she’s also afraid of him. like the fight was probably messy and awful. and ashfur’s death was probably slow and painful. i just like imagine that hollyleaf is struggling to kill him and almost starting to regret it halfway through but it’s too late and ugh like it really fucked her up so. it was probably awful.

I drew her smiling because THIS POOR BABY DESERVES TO BE HAPPY OK?! The most accurate depiction of her predicament was the lyrics to Fall Out Boy’s “‘From Now On We Are Enemies’” used to caption @clanborn’s lovely art of her.

47. Sunbeam

I’m back! I’ve been sitting on some WIPs of the new protagonists for a while now, so it’s about time I finish these up. Starting with my least favorite…

I really liked Sunbeam, but to me her POV in this book just felt so disconnected from everything else going on, partially because of her upbeat attitude to everything and partially because it felt like NOTHING HAPPENED in ShadowClan that mattered to the wider narrative.

Anyways sorry for analyzing WARRIOR CATS as if it’s high literature.

Design note: markings are inspired by both her wiki sprite (I really like the little squiggle above her muzzle) and @warriorsproject’s most recent design for her. Her eye shine color was color picked from my Needletail WIP!

By the way with the supreme court reopening Lawrence and considering making anything other than cishet vanilla sex illegal, the "kink at pride" debate needs to die, right fucking now. We're about to see firsthand why kink and queer rights are so closely tied together and what we need is to stand in unity. This also means queer discourse needs to die, right now.

Listen, everyone. You have pride because of leather daddies and Trans Women of Color. You have pride because of the same people you're ashamed to accept into the community.

We're all about to become targets, and we can't win separated. And we especially need to protect our most vulnerable, we need to protect the members of our community that will get targeted the most.

Discourse needs to end. The United States' fascism and hate is getting worse, and anyone that knows their world history knows things might get really bad here soon, and it's more important than ever that we can stand together. If we get caught up on labels or "is this person really LGBT" or anything like that, the people that hate us all for existing will divide and conquer and we will all lose.
