ID: Two photos of a hand sewn heron made with beige linen. She has small black beads for eyes. First photo is the heron in profile, against a background of grass. Second photo is me holding her in my arms in front of a log cabin.
i also think the term grief isnt necessarily being misused as it relates to bigger societal issues and mass death like climate change, pandemic, genocide but i do feel like there is a really key delineation between that and grief for a dead/dying loved one and sometimes ppl trying to conflate the two feels extremely icky. like the rituals that help with your generalized doom spiral are going to be very different than what helps someone who is incapacitated by a major personal loss
hate the instagram aestheticization of grief soooo fucking much lmao
oh i was going to take note of an update to this which is that ive been working on a little manual of grief rituals and got to share a dream i had with her and rather than being bitter and resentful i actually have found something healing in the process of showing support SOOO TAKE THAT INNER DEMONS..
so beautiful how community has rallied around my friend after her bestie died in a hiking accident and so painful to remember how little support i felt i had when i lost my friend in 2020 under similarly traumatic circumstances. how things wouldve been different had friends organized a meal train
that hike was a hard reset. tomorrow i pick up the seedlings >:)
on the topic of intimacy. played chess with my friend in the park this afternoon and then had dinner with my upstairs and across-the-hall neighbors and tomorrow im going hiking with my favorite one. before i start going down the have no friends rabbit hole again
blocking twitter and reddit on my computer has been a lifesaver. also getting a text from my special metro north friend and remembering that not only did he come to my sisters concert he also read the book i was reading on the train and is trying to engage & connect with me over it which ive been cravign for..months ? years? now to get him to suggest a book for ME to read tho
