The war in Sudan has reached its 10th month. The war has been met with a global indifference or there has been no desire to act from many world leaders.
8 million people have fled their homes and millions of Sudanese people have emergency food insecurity, with 5 million people on the brink of famine. even the neighbouring country Chad has had to declare a food insecurity emergency due to the mass amount of Sudanese people that have fled to Chad. (By no fault of their own of course)
Faced with a media blackout which is over a week at this point we need to continue to amplify the voices and plight of the Sudanese people.
#freesudan till it’s backwards 🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩🇸🇩

the story of hind fucks me up so badly for so many reasons, and one of them is that her cousin has the same name as me. her name was layan. i heard the recording of her call with the red crescent just before she was gunned down. really cannot be overemphasized how disturbing it is to listen to someone with your name die such a horrific death. and i know it's not unique. every arab person alive, even if they have no family in palestine, has heard of some story this disturbing happen to someone with their name and/or the names of their relatives. and i obviously am not trying to center myself in this coersation at all, i can't even begin to comprehend the horrors layan witnessed, but i just needed to vent about this somewhere. it's a kind of dread and paranoia that i can't quite express in words and i just keep thinking about her.
oh anon. what happened to hind and her family is already unbearable in a vacuum, and then there's the added layer of knowing these children have our names, our features, could very easily be us or someone we love. i understand what you mean about hearing your name for a martyr. this happens to me with my birth name, my father's name, my brother's... etc and many of the children look like we could be siblings. i know every arab has had this moment of terror. and it's unbearable to know how palestinians are living this *reality*. not just "this victim could be my child" but "this victim *is* my child". i think of hind's parents and my head spins.
another thing is that we all feel (or should feel) a responsibilty for children. like james baldwin said, the children are always ours. i feel this very strongly. that this was allowed to happen feels like an error in the world.

Al Jazeera posted a long-form article about the Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza. It talks about who they were, their hopes and their dreams.
Tumblr media
At the bottom, there is a Romanized searchable version of the list of names of people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The first 7 pages are children below the age of 1.

Massive fuck you to everyone who is talking about Palestinians as if we’re already all dead and sharing more solidarity with our corpses than us living. “We will never forget the beautiful Palestinian people-“ how about you stop “making peace” with Palestinian extermination. My people are not going to be forgotten because we are going to live. Palestinians have already survived one genocide and have been surviving one ever since.
Do not ever let the idea that all Palestinians are going to die exist in your mind. Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.

Gaza is under siege
Human Rights Watch confirms Israel is using white phosphorous gas on Gaza, violating int’l law
Israel cut off Gaza’s electricity and water, so no food preservation, health care, or basic means to live. Internal media coverage can go only so far without power. Hard to see the true extent of turmoil, likely by design.
Complete blockade from humanitarian aid means people starve and die from Israel’s siege on Gaza.
None of the 2M Palestinians can leave due to the open air prison Israel created around the city. Almost half of them are children.
Western media continues to cover only one side of this conflict, tainting the world’s understanding of what’s truly occurring. Public officials blindly follow suit. What a tragedy it is.
My heart and thoughts are with all those suffering in the region as a result.

Medical Aid for Palestinians
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
you can read more about their ongoing emergency response here
Responding to this emergency situation, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)’s team on the ground in Gaza are releasing all of our pre-positioned stocks, worth $570,000 USD (approximately £465,000), to ensure hospitals and emergency responders have the supplies they need to cope with an unprecedented influx of casualties. The list of supplies provided by MAP includes essential drugs and disposables, lab reagents and support for Gaza’s blood bank services. Some of these supplies are already being delivered to Al Awda Hospital.
