â Does the mun have other muses beside you? What is your opinion on them?
mun/muse asks...
â Does the mun have other muses beside you? What is your opinion on them?
"A frivolous fiction writer, a do-goodie ocean girl, and... well, the remaining one seems more kindred to my callings than those other two, truly," Roxanne proclaims, rather stately and matter-of-fact. "Still, it seems the lot of them could learn more than a few things from someone like myselfâseeing as I predate them, mind you.â

đ - Have they ever broken the law?
Laws are more or less arbitrary when it comes to Roxanne. Sheâs noted that many laws in place at best serve little purpose, and at worst cause more harm than good to both the environment and society.
Roxanne is dedicated to bending over backwards to justify her actions in any scenario. Whether it is trespassing, accessing confidential records to further her own research, or (harmlessly!) manipulating a situation for her gain, nothing will stop her from her goalsâlaws included.

âcont.âïž
"Gracious, don't be mistakenâthis is positively dreadful," haughty as ever, though with a certain sense of flair, Roxanne's arms cling close to her body; despite being very familiar with the colder climates found elsewhere, she still is native to Hoennâa far cry from this frigid land she finds herself visiting to the north.
"Though, when there is work to be done, we all must make the necessary sacrifices." Pigtails whip as her head, too, ducks with a bow. Despite the unpleasantness this weather brings her, she's still honored to be in audience with Sinnoh's Dawn, a Champion world-renowned for being a miraculous showcase in class and in skill. Roxanne's level of respect and reverence for the other shows vividly upon her frostbitten face, as she soon rises. "It's a pleasure to be here, meteorological circumstances of the season aside. I do appreciate your gracious reception."
"I'd like your permissive sanction to study the Sinjoh Ruins further in depth." Cutting right to the chase, and without hardly a breath between. Ruby red eyes pierce the blue ones filled with a perceptive darkness across from her, not as a show of dominanceâthough, a look clearly conveying how very unlikely it'd be for Roxanne to ever accept rejection.
The researcher is positive Dawn isn't aware of that prior trespass into the mythic ruins that mysteriously connect SInnoh to the region of Johto; of her and one of Kanto's most enigmatic of former Champions' attempting to connect the missing links they'd stumbled upon in search for something... substantial.
Though, after a series of mishaps and unfortunate circumstances, their exploit was inevitably foiled. The few-of-words Champion departed back to wherever it was he'd come, and Roxanne returned dutifully to the University of Rustboro, and (rather begrudgingly) Devon Corp.
She'd never forgotten that sensation of being on the cusp of something so momentousâher failure, if anything, was the true jumping point.
"I... am aware this request might be overzealous. And, because of its status as a designated NHA, grants into the Ruins are undoubtedly cause for circumspection." She loosens her stance, a chilly hand coming to rest softly over her heart while her breath condensates. "But, I must assure you, I take every precaution into account when surveying within any area of theological significance."
Not entirely true, but at least Roxanne feels like she's being convincing enough!

"'Rock is rock' oh, come now..."
Despite the sheer urge to release the huff building in her throat, she chokes it down; this man had presented her with a gift, completely unprompted. As neurotic as her mother was, Roxanne was taught the basics of etiquette by the woman, and upheld them to the best of her capabilities.
Her newfound 'rivalry', for lack of a better term, with Orre's most renowned battler began not long ago, during the second Pokemon World Tournament. Though the battle ended in Roxanne's defeat, she was impacted by the pure adrenaline she felt beneath those stadium lights. Perhaps rusty at her techniques, she'd concluded.
Still, it made the man no less impressiveâand to make any lasting impression on Roxanne, a professor and speaker to audiences of thousands at a time, is no small feat.
"I'd believe correlating your spontaneousâand quite unforeseenâact of generosity with this viewed holiday is a fair enough assessment." She does offer Alistair a smile, though one slightly soured. "Though, regrettably, I have nothing to serve as an exchange..."

"I'm gonna be real, everything you just said went in one side and out the other. To me, rock is rock. I do not know much about the uh... Intricacies of rocks. That said... I'm glad it is to your, well, I am assuming it's to whatever high standard you have."
He couldn't help but shake his head at the sudden shift in her tone. The excitement was endearing at the very least.
"And uh, yeah, the day is suspicious, I know. Definitely no correlation between the two things uh, at all. So don't get any ideas about it, yeah? It's just a rock, it's not like I gave you the rock and mentioned what day it is, you did that. In fact... That's suspicious on your end."

draconsciousâ:
Clair canât help but smile as Roxanne enthusiastically outlines her future endeavors, again reminded of the ambitious sparkle glittering in the Rustboro Gym Leaderâs eyes when they first met many moons ago. Itâs clear to see that Roxanneâs scholarly flame hasnât dipped since then, her passionate drive still burning brighter than ever. Clair canât keep herself from being drawn towards that passion, like a Mothim fluttering before a candle. Despite her current condition, itâs goodâmaybe even a reliefâto see Roxanne again. And yet, when her sharp Hoenn colleague offers an opportunity to reconnect, Clair hesitates on instinct. She canât stop herself.
âHmâŠâ the tamer waffles, mind momentarily wandering back towards her training, her absolute need to become stronger, to never come close to losing again. When she was younger, such a ferocious need regularly consumed her, burning her up until she couldnât move anymore, sprawled out on the Denâs stony floor. However, Clair is older now. The dragonâs flame still roars within her, that temper still raring its ugly head from time to time, but sheâs learningâlearning when her muscles scream in protest, learning when her Pokemon finally need to restâŠlearning when enough is enough, for now.
âI suppose I could spare some time for a meal with a long lost friendâŠâ Clair finally answers with a faux-dramatic sigh towards Roxanne, rare playfulness marking her tone. âIf youâre willing to do a little hiking, I even have a special place in mind today. Did you pack your own lunch?âÂ
ââŠIf youâre not up for this, be honest with me and we can eat down at the cityâs stuffy tea house instead.â she warns, azure eyes narrowing slightly. âIâm not going to carry you up the trail or anything. Even though I could.â   Â
To see the tamer display a slight hesitance isnât uncharacteristicâitâs expected, considering how dedicated Clair is to her own vigorous routine and ambitious levels of standard. Roxanneâs admiration for the otherâs drive, an unwavering respect that defies the womenâs differences, cannot allow her to see this as something of a fault.Â
However, as is a concept the Hoennite would do well to internalize also, everyone needs a rest from the wheel every now and againâwhether or not that means prying their hands from it.
Which makes Clairâs acceptance all the more gratifying!
âOn a day like this? Hiking sounds like an utter treat. No carrying necessary.â
The twoâs mirrored expressions and a tip of Clairâs head begin the womanâs trek. Roxanne has always found Blackthorn incredibly pleasant, tucked here in the mountains with its peoplesâ secluded, though gorgeously distinct, way of life as endlessly intriguing as the city itselfâs storied histories. Though itâd taken an awful lot of convincing to the Elders (and several acts of community service, without a doubt), being allowed entry to the city once more feels full circle in many ways.
Despite them coming up fruitless in their spelunking the Dragonâs Den, in search of that ancestral enigma of legend and hypothetical âmissing linkâ, the experience built a lifelong friendship that neither can deny.
âI donât have... the widest variety of provisions with me at the momentâonly sandwiches.â Her favorite, when out and about, and the easiest to consume while simultaneously notating her personal work. âDo tell, what is so âspecialâ about where it is we are heading? Youâve piqued my interest quite a bit by using such choice words.â

Alistair is just holding a very... Ordinary looking rock in his hand as he extends it out towards Roxanne.
"I uh... I got you somethin'. Meet Eirian. It's a pet rock, I think it's pretty cool!"
"Quite... curious it is, to be receiving a gift from you on such an occasion," ruby eyes narrow for a moment in suspicion, though widen once more when she sees exactly what it is he's handing to her.
"!!!"
"What a specimen! Clastic sedimentaryâexamine this unequivocal layering, absolutely splendid." Roxanne can't snatch her newest pet rock quick enough, though her cheeks do blush a bit as she bows in thanks. "Like their namesake, what a bright and beautiful new companion... I must extend my appreciation to you, Alistair."

âThorton ( @analuein )... now, what an incredible mind? Absolutely a pleasure to pick through by means of battling... I do believe this may be the most riveting experience Iâve endured during the entirety of this event, no less.Â
I will most certainly make a point to further introduce myself after this tournament concludes. I do not believe Iâve picked their mind substantially enough.â

Now, if the âgentlemanâ could prioritize bathing as much as he does battling, Iâd expect great things to come from him... eventually.â

âOh I know enough, just a gym leader wasting time chasing nothing. Not even an ounce of ambition in those bones, fitting for someone who wastes her days chasing bones Iâd say.â Heâs still not phased one bit. Even kids in Pyrite managed to do better than that. âIâll have you rolled over before I even finish a cigarette. Trust me.â
âThat dress would have been pretty if it was still 2003 you know, but alas, twenty years ago. Get with the times, oh wait, you canât. Youâre obsessed with the past. Silly girl. Go run back to that trainer school next to your gym. Youâll need it.â
âJust a Gym Leaderâ. The world-renowned (outside of Orre, clearly) geoarcheologist-slash-professor sizes him up one last time: just like a man, to be all bark. But, will he actually bite?Â
Roxanne can only giggle before turning to prepare for the exhibition match. She will be running no place quickly, other than towards the battlefield to secure his defeat. After all: having lead a gym for quite a number of years, handling hot-headed children isnât a new scenario. Quite in her element, she is!
âLetâs just hope your friend luck is on your side today~â

âYeah, this girl, you ainât shit. Just some gym leader who thinks she can win, and hygiene? Really? Couldnât think of anything better, could you? I expect no less from someone with such poor dress sense.â He just snorts. That shot missed worse than anyone could have imagined.
âYour career ended before it started, youâre in a dead-end job girl. But me? Pfft, you have no idea what youâre up against. Whatever you learned in Hoenn, all that Hoing? Yeah, forget it all. Youâre about to face the dirtiest fight youâve seen in your life, against the best of the dirtiest fighters even. Hope, no⊠Pray, that luck is on your side.â
âCause it rarely leaves mine.â
âItâs... difficult to form coherent thoughts, what with this stench of stale cigarette smoke and musk, Iâll admit,â sheâs not in the least bit intimidated; sheâs heard more degrading things from the men over at Devon on any given Tuesday. âOrreans must also lack access to amenities like basic cable, considering how little it is you know of what I do, but I digress...â
âI think luck is best kept on your sideânever quite found use for it, myself.â

âAbout to fight this girl called Roxanne⊠Supposedly some big-shot from Hoenn huh.
I hope she doesnât quit her day job.â
ââThis girlâ, hmph... I suppose the concept of common courtesy is as foreign to Orreans as maintaining proper hygiene.â With a fold of her arms, she can size up her opponent with contentment; not the first ruffian sheâs had to face off against (look at May ffs).Â
âAs a careerwoman, I promise this match will impact little beyond these walls. But by your braggadocious disclaimer, I am quite hopeful youâre ready to utilize the fullest extent of your skill-set. Anything less would be rather insulting~â

Looks like slinking about cemeteries proved... successful?
âWhat a beguiling match that was,â sheâs stunned, incredibly so. Her Pokemon all seem pleased with themselves, particularly Aino: rarely did she get the shine of performing before an audience of so many! âYou all were phenomenalâI believe an outing to Mt. Moon might be in order? As a reward, a treat?â
While they each seem ecstatic over the idea, Roxanne muses quietly about perhaps meeting Morty again at some point, in a less hostile environment; if anything, simply to show appreciation for his showmanship.
