Thinking about how Adam's drawing of the intruder is the only sketch that was noticeably damaged in someway. So normal about the implication that "the man on the TV" had affected him so deeply, being the reason the original Adam was replaced; haunting his dreams; being there the night Jonah died and being the one to tell Adam he wasn't human, that even though Adam barely knows his full connection to the intruder, he feels enough anger/fear that he can't even keep a proper sketch of it.

Adding on to this, with the newest Murray update it shows at the bottom this:

the eyes open part could be interpreted as Mark writting my eyes are wide open in his notebook.

It creates more similarities between Adam and Mark, as well as showing that key moments of Adam becoming an alternate are connected to Mark. Especially as the Murray update is written during his transformation.

My personal crack theory is that Mark was a failed early attempt to create a human raised alternate, just like Adam. Mostly, I base this off of how similar Mark's and Adam's timelines are.

With Adam, he had no alternate/paranormal encounters before the age of four (as he was born in 1988 and encounters six in 1992); his first encounter involves six, and was described as him being cradled in six's arms; he is then replaced by the new alternate Adam; the new Adam lives a relatively normal life (I.e Evelyn described him as a nice guy) until his late teens where he becomes obsessed with alternates and his personality somewhat changes.

Resulting in the events of volume two where he goes to Cesar's house, encounters Six and the preacher alternate, starts to display MAD symptoms (i.e after preacher speaks to him the subtitles describe MAD), is revealed information from God and his friend (Jonah) dies. He then flees to his house where he is further contacted by six, told more information about himself (i.e you are not the real you) and starts to spiral, displaying suicidal tendencies (begging Thatcher to kill him).

Mark's timeline is incredibly similar to Adam's. He does not encounter any alternates until the age of four, where during the scary night story he describes seeing six and falling asleep; he then lives a normal life until his late teens where he becomes more paranoid about alternates and begins to record them.

During volume one, he goes to Cesar's house, is scared by what he sees in the house (seen by the mandela police website transcript), flees to his house where he is taunted by alternates, learns information about God, begins displaying MAD symptoms and ultimately commits suicide.

It shows how both Mark and Adam's story follow a similar formula of meeting six at age four, living a normal life until their late teens, becoming more obsessed about alternates, having an intense encounter with one that results in a friends death, fleeing to their own houses, being told unwanted information and then becoming suicidal. Locations, ages and time spans all match with differences (i.e being cradled by six vs falling asleep) being relatively minor.

Some other similarities show how Mark and Adam's stories are connected, Mark was shown to Adam after he asked who Six was; both Mark and Adam were contacted by on the 13th (january for Adam and september for Mark) and had their encounters last until the 15th; both became obsessed with recording alternates; Mark mentioned his eyes being wide open and Adam's eyes are clearly distorted in Presto; both Mark's suicide and Adam's replacement took place in late 1992; Thatcher discovers both Adam and Mark.

Due to these similarities, it could be theorised that Mark was a failed attempt to create a human raised alternate. I am certain this theory won't be canon but it is still interesting to see how similar Mark and Adam's stories are.
