The Truth || F.W.
Fred Weasley x gn reader, Battle of Hogwarts
Genre: sad, sappy, love confession (?), idk i think this counts as angst
Summary: A little drabble/ excerpt. You’re in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts and you’re giving up hope. For winning, for love, for Fred. You finally ask him for the truth.
—x—
Fred has always been an unpredictable force. One minute he’s aloof and bouncing off the walls, and in a blink of an eye, he’s stood still in the midst of chaos. No one takes him seriously, not even his mother, but you know the truth. He’s just as headstrong as any other Gryffindor and just as stubborn too.
“Fred,” you let out in exasperation. “I’m tired of this. All of this.” You gesture wildly about the room. The pillars that once kept the Hogwarts grounds upright are crumbling beneath your touch, and the floor lays cracked and weary. You’re practically crawling up the walls in frustration. The wand in your hand is gripped tight, it’s wooden grooves digging into your skin and the worn out curves hugging your fingertips. “I’m about to go out there and die in a battle I’m not even sure we’re winning.”
His still nature angers you. He always speaks first, responds back, or leaves the last remark. His silence is bewildering and foreign, and you hate it. He knows you hate it.
If you’re about to die, you want to know the truth in its entirety, no matter how much it scared you. Would he have loved you? In a different world, would he have held your hand and kissed your wounds? Would he own up to love, or is he still afraid of the unspoken tension?
Fred takes a step forward. You take a step back.
“...Are we still friends?” Your eyes sting, but you still refuse to blink. You want him to know you are stronger, that you are capable. They bore into his with a hunger that your stomach has never been able to crave. The water in your eyes start to blur your vision. They pour out along with your unwarranted feelings. “Could we...” your voice breaks off and you take a sharp breath in,” could we have ever been more than that?”
He doesn’t speak, and an eerily calm silence dusts the room that encases the two of you.
Of course he didn’t think like that, what were you thinking? His touches that lit your skin on fire and warmed your insides were nothing more than the spark he always carried around. He ignited a fire in each of his friends, you just so happened to burn with an insatiable flame.
The tension grows too much for you. You know how this plays out: the rejection, hurt, death, and renewal. You never pegged Fred for a coward until now as you turn to walk away. The world is collapsing in on itself, and if he wanted to take the truth to the grave, he would.
“I don’t want you to go out there and think for a second that I didn’t… that I don’t love you.” His voice is broken, but it’s firm in a way that grounds you to your surroundings and stops you from leaving. “Just knowing you was worth it. Asking for anything more than that was just selfish. I mean,” he licks his cracked lips and breathes out a short laugh,” are you kidding me?”
His hand rubs over the entirety of his face. “Some stupid bloke like me dating someone so incredibly put together? It was ridiculous!”
A hollow laugh echoes in the vast expanse of rubble. It’s once cheerful feeling was nothing more than another broken promise. “You’re like,” he licks his chapped lips that have found a new cut since the beginning of this war. “….you’re like expensive bittersweet chocolate that melts on your tongue. No one expects the guy with the heart of a 12 year old and a mouthful of sugary sweets to like something so sophisticated.”
“What on Earth are you on about?” You ask.
“I’m saying I don’t deserve you.” His firm response leaves you breathless. “If we make it out of here alive, I’m going to kiss you until there’s no tomorrow.”
“And if we don’t?”
“Then we’ll be kissing amongst the stars, I suppose.”
—x—
A/N: brb gonna go cry bc we all know what happens to the poor lad…

224 || G.W.
George Weasley x Reader, Soulmate AU
Genre: Fluff, humor
Summary: Each soulmate pair receives a special number to them, and them only, on the day they’re born into this world. The placement on the body can vary, so people usually keep to themselves unless they fancy someone or it’s displayed somewhere public. How do you go around explaining to your best friend that he’s the one?
A/N: i have been so inactive, I’m so sorry rip I am going to try to post a fic here and there, but I’m still a student doing student things... This blog recently turned 2 years old, and has reached about 300 followers, so thank you so much for those of you who have found me in the piles of other wonderful works :) I love you all from the bottom of my heart.
--x--
“Oh, do forgive me, Georgie,” you playfully shove him out of the way. He stumbles away from the shelf containing the last package of Fizzing Whizbees in time for you to snatch it into your hands. You hear him chuckle as he regains his balance behind you. It’s suffocatingly crowded with fellow students in Honeydukes, so he leans in close so you can hear him.
His warm breath comes close to your ear, saying with a soft laugh,” At least share, alright?”
You tapped your chin thoughtfully as the smile plastered on your face turned into a smirk. You make your way to the cashier with George close behind. The candy in the box shake in your hands, and the decorative ring you’re wearing on your middle finger glimmers in the shop’s light. You call over your shoulder,” If you win the next match against Slytherin, I might.”
This statement alone had George fist pump the air in satisfaction. Even if he lost, you would most likely share it anyways –– to cheer him up, of course. You two have been best friends since your first year when you cleverly evaded one of the twins’ pranks. It was a lucky guess, but the outcome left Fred and George tangled in a mess of burping up slugs for three hours. It was an easy friendship after that, other than the secret feelings you harbored for George, that is.
Soon enough, the match came and the sight was an absolutely thrilling one. You watch as each player flies by, and each time the wind sweeps your hair in every direction. Fred and George are on a spectacular streak, and they never once miss the bludger. Thankfully you had a pair of binoculars and Lee Jordan’s commentary; the team was so small in the air that it was hard to tell what was happening.
Harry Potter was no doubt going to catch the snitch, and here he comes now swooping in underneath his teammates. He’s almost flat against his broomstick, urging it to go faster before Malfoy could get to the fluttering golden speck. All eyes are on Potter, and the boy is mere inches away. Just as his nimble fingers wrap around the snitch, another Gryffindor teammate drops from the air.
You can hear the subtle gasps from a few in the crowd who noticed. The Gryffindor team were too enraptured with Harry’s catch to notice that one of them was dropping ten, twenty, thirty meters to the ground. “George!” You cried.
As if sending a telepathic message to the other twin, though it is most likely he heard you yell as clear as day, Fred swoops down to save his brother from impact. You notice now that you're standing on your feet and leaning on the railing that separates you from your best friends on the field. You watch on in horror as Fred barely makes it in time. The breath you didn’t know you were holding finally escapes you, and your surroundings come back all at once.
You hear the deafening silence and the sound of the wind blowing by. No one moves as they watch Fred land on the ground with George. It was Lee who ended the tension,” And with that, Gryffindor earns 130 points and has won the match…”
All at once, everyone in the stands scrambles to get out. Elated with Harry’s catch and the twins’ safety, the student body goes their separate ways. You follow them as well and weave your way through the crowd to get to Fred and George. Panic fills your lungs, and every fiber in your body screams to make sure they’re okay.
“Fred!” You call out,” Are you two alright?”
“Yeah, no harm done to me,” he sighs,” –– Other than this git. A bludger whacked him straight on the side and he passed out on his ride down.”
“It looks like it hurts… but it’s nothing Madame Pomfrey can’t handle, right?” You wince. You try to convince yourself that George is just sleeping a very deep, restful sleep.
“I reckon he’ll be fine, y/n.” Fred winks your way with a sly grin. “Visit him lots, yeah?”
Madame Pomfrey refused to let anyone in until she was done running some tests. When she finally let you visit, you rushed to sit next to George’s bedside. He stirred at your frantic movements and opened an eye to see you. “It’s not that bad is it?” He chuckles.
“She said that you’ve broken a few ribs, but you’ll be alright.” You smile.
George sits up slowly, pretending to be in agonizing pain. You worry for a bit and reach out to him on instinct, but he laughs and tells you he’s okay. His torso is wrapped entirely with gauze over his clothes, and there are a few bandages wrapped around his forearms as well. Pomfrey had drawn a blanket over George earlier, so the white sheet still covered the lower half of his body. A moment goes by, and you hear a soft wheeze leaving George’s lips. “You don’t suppose my soulmate is into beaten up ginger-heads, do you?”
“Well,” you mull over your words. Pretending to take his question seriously, you answer,” they would have if you were Fred..” You laugh a little as you catch the glint in his eyes –– the mischievous one you had grown to love.
“Oh, if only I looked exactly like that bloke.” He jokes. His head falls a little forward as he laughs. His gaze is drawn to his lap, and if you didn’t know any better, you’d say that he looked like those shy love interests in romantic muggle films.
You notice that his fiery hair is covering his eyes, and your body compels you to get another glimpse of that wonderful boy’s face. Ever so gently, you reach your hand out and tuck a strand of his hair behind his ear. When your fingers curve around the back of his ear, you notice a few dark marks of what looks like a tattoo. Your eyebrows furrow together in confusion. You go to move more of his hair out of the way, but he turns his eyes to you.
“Are you getting handsy with me y/n? Tryin’ to make a move, are you?” He smiles, but there is a small panic in his eyes as they frantically search yours. “You could’ve just asked me out, you know.”
“Is that your soulmate mark?” You ask.
“Maybe.”
“Well,” you huff playfully,” I might be able to tell you who your soulmate is. I might cry if your soulmate is Madame Pomfrey, though.”
“Is that a bad thing?” He asks, a playful tone in his voice.
"Georgie, please don’t tell me you have a thing for milfs.”
It takes everything in him to hold back his laughter. George pulls his hair back to reveal the numbers 224 etched behind his left ear. Your breath catches in your throat, but you try to hide your very obvious shock. 224 was a number you knew too well, and seeing that number reflected on your best friend’s skin meant that your deepest feelings were true. It’s okay to be in love with George because now... now there is chance he feels the same way.
Your mark is tattooed on the band of your middle finger, which is usually covered up by jewelry. You fidget with your rings nervously, trying to ground yourself all the while. George doesn’t pay too much attention to it when he says,“Fred has his numbers on his right ear. I might be the right-hand man, but he’s lucky enough to be the right-ear man.”
You laugh at his really bad pun,” Really? Out of all of the ear jokes, you chose that one?”
“It made you laugh, didn’t it?” He nudges you with his shoulder, and you can’t help but giggle some more.
“Would you like to hear a fun fact?” You ask. You gulp down all of the fear that has started to swallow you whole. You are George’s soulmate. The idea buzzes in your head along with a million other thoughts. George nods for you to continue, and you fight the panicked urge to scream. “...In the muggle world, they have such advanced technology.”
“Yeah, dad would know––” George interjects for a second.
“The numbers 224 actually hold a meaning to them. It’s something like a code–– it’s related to their fancy devices I think? Anyways,” you take a deep breath. You remember vividly the details your friend went to great lengths explaining to you.
“Your number is all kinds of special, y/n!” Mae beams at you. Her eyes twinkle in an amusing manner as she tries to prove herself. A soft thud could be heard when her hands meet with the common room table, and she quickly jumps to her feet. “Imagine, having such a fantastic number as that!” She exclaims with awe.
“I don’t understand?” You bemusedly remark. Why would numbers hold more meanings beyond your standard soulmate reason?
“My brother loves binary code, a certain muggle science,” she explains,” and he told me a few meanings. One of them being yours! Now, if only fate would tell us who your soulmate was...”
If Mae were in this room, she would be bursting at the seams from pure glee. You look into George’s eyes and say,” ...the numbers actually mean something along the lines of ‘Today, Tomorrow, Forever.’ It has to do with the bond you and your soulmate have together.“
He blinks once or twice before breaking out into a grin,” Okay, can you say it again but,” he emphasizes,” simpler, maybe?
“––it means that your soulmate will love an accident-prone idiot like you forever and always,” You joke halfheartedly.
The familiar gleaming smile he wore after a successful prank creeps up onto his face: one of self satisfaction and deserving of many awards based on looks alone. His smile is much gentler and you almost miss it, but a blush tints the very tips of his cheeks. “Oh? wait ‘till dad finds out that numbers have meanings to muggles. How’d you know all of this anyway?”
“Oh, it’s just something my friend talked to me about.” You dismiss his questioning gaze and clear your throat. Every second that passes makes you more and more anxious being around George, simply just by knowing you two are soulmates. It’s a dream come true, sure. But how do you go around explaining to your best friend that he’s the one?
“Are you alright, y/n?” George asks. “You seem real fidgety. Do you need to go somewhere?”
“Oh–– no, it just that,” you gulp. “Well.. I think left the Fizzing Whizbees back in my dorm room.” You lie. You know it’s in your bag with your other belongings, safely tucked away for later consumption. “Post-game snacks are essential, and I did make a promise.”
“Are you sure you left it there? I thought I saw it in your bag...” He leans over to find your bag, and sure enough, he pulls out the box of candy.
“Oh.” You look at him. There’s an awkward pause before he clears his throat.
“You’ve really got to get yourself together mate–– looks like Nearly Headless Nick showed you his neck hole again or something.” George jokes to lighten the mood, but he’s right. The longer you sit there and stare at him, the more you either want to slam your lips against his or vomit profusely. You feel pale and sickly; just enough to feel the twists and turns of your stomach. Is this what having butterflies feel like? He opens the bag of candy and offers you some.
You share the box of whizbees with him, taking one out and popping them into your mouth. It fizzes and jolts a little as the sweet taste melts on your tongue. “I think maybe Fred slipped something to me earlier,” you avert your gaze,” I’m not sure.”
“Yeah, sounds like Fred.” George grabs your hand and looks you in the eyes. He’s rubbing soothing circles on your hands, and it does seem to relax some of your nerves. He looks at you softly and gently, and all at once, your anxiety starts to melt away in his presence. You almost forget why you’re so worried in the first place. “You know I’m not going anywhere. If you have to take a massive shit, I’ll wait for you.” He says as he pats your hand reassuringly.
You erupt into laughter and shove him away. “And here I thought we were having a moment.”
“Nothing says true love like bowl movements, darling.”
As the laughter dies down, the somber feeling in your gut returns. It’s now or never, right? “George, I think I need to tell you something. I—“
Fred bursts into the door with Lee following shortly behind. “There’s my favorite twin!” He beams. He gets a disapproving look from Madame Pomfrey peering around the corner from her office. Fred doesn’t pay much attention, choosing to walk past her with barely a glance over his shoulder. George rolls his eyes as Fred happily trots over, spilling some liquid from two mugs in his hands. “—had to have Lee help sneak these in for the party, which you lot are missing out on.” He hands you a mug of butter beer and George, the other.
You decide to drop the subject even after George was free from the hospital bed. It’s a few weeks since then, and school has made you push those thoughts of pesky soulmates and true love aside. Of course, George kept looking at you funny, waiting for you to bring it up again. To his dismay, you didn’t.
“Alright everyone, class is dismissed.” Professor Sprout announces as she busies herself in setting up plants for the next day. It’s the last class of the day, and you couldn’t be happier. Repotting plants was hard work, and you were sweaty enough as it is. Beads of sweat dripped down the side of your face, and as much as you hated it, it did make for good eye candy across the room — namely George, although there’s a lot of dirt smudged onto his face too.
He’s cleaning up rather quickly so you call out to him,” Can you grab my rings, Georgie? They’re over there by my bag.” You had to remove jewelry in order to “safely handle” the creatures and wear proper gloves. Those of which you hastily pull off to wash your hands. The suds come and go as you lather and rinse away in the sink.
“Today, tomorrow, forever eh?” George’s deep voice rumbles in your ear. You jump a little at the sudden scare. “I think I like the sound of that, don’t you?”
You turn your head a little to the side and come very close to George’s face. You can feel his breath fanning on your skin, and his nose is just barely touching yours. You fear that if you blink, the sight in front of you will vanish. Every freckle that glitters his skin is so close you could count them like the stars and draw constellations between them if you wanted to. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Your body feels like it’s on a cloud— so feather light and airy— as he smiles at you. Your throat is dry; your tongue struggles to keep up with your thoughts. “...what?” You choke out. You cover your hands on impulse, but you know it’s too late.
“It means you’re stuck with me forever, y/n.” He grins. “Soulmate magic is no joke, you know.” He hands you your rings and walks beside you out of the greenhouse. You slip the rings on to your middle finger where it’s always resided, deciding to fidget with it a little.
Nothing should be different. You’re walking with George in the hallways like you always do, your hair is no different than yesterday, and class was the same as an other day. And yet your heart is beating faster and the sun seems to shine brighter. The grass is greener and the lake bluer than it was this morning. Words remain unspoken, but the truth is there. His fingers are interlocked with yours. 224.

Honey Boy || Cedric
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[requested!]
Genre: Fluff!!! Expect your teeth to rot :)
[muggle!reader] [cedric x reader]
Summary: Traditional muggle baking is a favorite past time of yours, although many students are prejudiced against it. A certain boy always liked your baking though, and that’s the only thing that matters. “I had a friend of mine teach me, but I doubt it’s as good as yours.” “It’s absolutely stunning.”
A/N: I’m combining the two requests because sweets + fluff = a recipe for a good Cedric fic lol also I’m so sorry that this fic took me forever!! Once I started writing, it never really stopped so it ended up being kind of long, I hope that is okay!
--x--
When you first came to the Wizarding Academy, it was like a dream come true. In the following weeks, however, it proved to be a little bit less than that. “What are you wearing?”
You stare blankly at a fellow student. “My robes, of course. Why?”
“No, I meant the things on your hands.”
“Oh,” you look at your hands. You’re wearing oven mitts, the ones your parents bought you to take to the academy. You often borrowed the Hogwarts kitchen after hours, so to see you like this is no surprise. Every once in awhile, however, some curious student or the other will waltz by and scrutinize you. “These are oven mitts. It’s a muggle thing.”
The students nods slowly, still trying to understand the reasoning behind it. After a while, the student leaves, mumbling to themselves about “why not use the wand?” but you didn’t pay any mind to it, most kids leave the same response anyways.
You finished up cleaning the countertop area, this time with your wand, reciting an incantation one of the many house elves taught you. They had their own magic, but since you were so keen on using the kitchen, it became a staple rule to clean up after yourself. It swirled around and swept up all of the mixing bowls into the air, letting them dance themselves all the way into the sink. The stainless steel sink bubbled with warm water and soap, busying itself with scrubbing each dish that comes its way.
You smiled happily to yourself. Someone cleared their throat behind you, and you froze. Everything stop mid-production, like a pause button. Paranoia ate away at you, wondering who it could be this time. Perhaps it was a professor, with a scowl on their face and yelling to the heavens. Or perhaps it was another student, a silent stare creeping on the back of your neck.
You turned around, scared out of your wits, only to be met with a disarming smile and yellow accented robes. “I thought you’d be here.” Cedric Diggory smiled at you, and the anxiety melted away with it.
“Really? How come?”
“Tori said just as much,” he walked closer, looking around the room in wonder. Slowly, you resumed the cleaning process, watching how his eyes lit up at the scenery. “I was going to ask if you wanted to study, but,” he chuckles,” it seems like I’ve come at a bad time?”
The oven beeped, catching the attention of the both of you. You rushed over frantically, throwing the oven mitts back over your fingertips. “Actually–”
You open an oven left somewhere in the far corner, letting the delicious scent of baked goodies fill the empty room. At once, Diggory was enraptured in consuming aroma that drifted by. “You came right on time,” you said as you gently take the tray out.
He eyes the tray curiously, watching you fan them to cool down quicker. You only wanted it to cool down faster so that he could have a bite, but just seeing you dramatically fan the goodies brought a smile on his face. “–I wouldn’t say right on time, it’s probably more like a few minutes early, but if you’d like I have–”
“Of course, y/n.” He looks at you,” I’d be more than happy to try them.”
It’s not until hours roll by and an empty tray of goodies gone did you realize how late it became. You sat upright and stiff, a shocking revelation dawning on you. “We never studied.”
“Oh y/n,” Cedric’s nose nose scrunched up as he tried desperately to hid his smile. He failed miserably, letting his lips curl up in delight. “It’s a bit late now, isn’t it?”
“It’s no use, I suppose...” You tapped on your chin as you thought of a solution. “Maybe we can study together tomorrow? The exam isn’t until Friday, right?”
“I’d like that.”
That night you lay awake, the comfy sheets tangled between your legs. You can’t sleep, and thoughts drifted in and out of your head restlessly. As far as you knew, Cedric was a pureblood. But he never judged you, not once, about anything muggle related. It’s kind of liberating; to feel so welcomed in Cedric’s presence.
Your body grew too warm for the bed, tossing and turning as you did so. Your cheeks were hot to the touch, embarrassment leaking out of your pores. It was only a fleeting thought, but then it lingered and then oh, how it wouldn’t go away. Cedric is kind hearted, so much so, that it had touched the very depths of your heart. The little inkling thought that made your breath catch in your throat was the fact that maybe, just a little bit, it would be nice to love a boy like him.
A couple of days later, you found a new recipe that reminded you of Cedric. You busied yourself in the kitchen, letting the joy of baking for another fill you to the brim. After a battle of wits against the mixing machine, there was finally a moment to pause. The sweet scent of chocolate muffins consumed you and left an itch to share the funny butterflies in your stomach. Fresh out of the oven, you wrap one of the muffins up. You neatly tuck the sweet treats into your bag and flurry down the hallway.
If you want him to try it at its peak performance, you need to deliver it while the muffins are still warm. The hallway doesn’t have many students, but you spot your friends, Fred and George.
“Hey Fred,” you smile, half out of breath. “–and George too.”
They smirk when they see you, already lining up a flurry of tricks to play. The Weasley on the left spoke up saying,”What’s the hurry?”
“Yeah, what’s the rush?” The twin on the right said.
“Would you happen to know where,” you pause. Breathing seemed to take its time coming to you. “..where Diggory might be?”
A unified “ooohhh,” sung out from their mouths. Regretfully, you could see it in their eyes that they knew. You liked the boy, didn’t you? With a whistle, George says,” Last I checked it was the Quidditch field.”
You murmur a small thanks and rush off towards the fields. Your footsteps thundered down the corridors, an aching feeling settling in your toes. Baking is one thing, but running across campus? No thanks. And the butterflies. There were so many of them fluttering around, sputtering things that warmed up your cheeks. You wonder how so many butterflies could fit into one stomach, but you digress.
When you reach the fields, Cedric was coming out of one of the tents. Your eyes meet, and his smile practically sweeps you off of the ground. “Hey,” he says as he walks up to you.
Cedric pat his face with a towel, a sheen of shiny sweat rubbing away with the soft fabric.
Immediately you can feel the heat rush from your body to your face. The comfort of his presence juxtaposing your uncomfortable stance was very foreign, but it helped to ease your nerves. “I... I made you some muffins. It’s good luck for the upcoming game, you see.”
His eyes widen just a bit, watching as you frantically pull out the muffin from your satchel. You reach out to hand it to him. Thankfully, it’s still fresh and warm, and the tingling feeling is hot on your fingertips. A gentle,”Thank you,” reaches you ears as he softly takes the baked item into his palms.
You see a teammate call out to him. You want to talk to him more, having only spoken about two sentences, but to your dismay, the better part of you knew better than to keep him to yourself. He turns back to you, the same look on his face.
“I know I’ll love it y/n, don’t worry. I’ll tell you how it tastes later, yeah?”
You nod and watch as he jogs off, hurrying to grab his broomstick. The next week flew in quickly, and the flurry of wizarding homework drowned out all of your free time. As silly as it was, you didn’t have any time to bake now that exams are around the corner.
Light leaks in from the castle window, pouring in to fill the room. Dust basks in the warm sunlight, the particles bothersome to your occasional sneezes. Why does the Hogwarts’ library have to be simultaneously the best and worst place to study?
Hours tick by, and the fatigue is starting to kick in. You’ve been staring at your textbooks for hours. “Ah,” a voice chimes in. “There you are.”
Your droopy eyes immediately shoot open, and you look up to see Cedric. “Oh! Hey, Diggory.” A smile creeps on to your face, unable to hide the relief and joy you found in his presence. “What are you doing here? I thought you were studying with Cho this afternoon?”
He looks down at the ground while his robes silently swayed with his movements. He’s grown awfully quiet, so you thought there was something on the ground. You glance at where he is looking, but there’s nothing to be found. “Cedric?”
Your words snap him back to reality. Red starts to flood his cheeks, and his eyes widen at the sudden jolt. “Ah–– s...sorry!” He stutters. He sounds nervous, but the way he carries himself and moves so fluidly, it looks effortless. His fingers have a mind of their own as they kindly closed the heavy textbook and find a way to your hand. “Come with me, will you?”
And of course, how could you say no to that?
He leads you somewhere quiet. It’s one of those outdoor hallways, but the scene is empty with nothing but stone and the sunset sky. Your heart beats a little faster when he stops. His figure stands tall, but it takes him a minute to look you in the eyes. Warily, he pulls out container.
“I’m not the best at baking, I know,” he chuckles,” but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate the things you’ve done for me.”
He holds out the package, and when you open it there is a miniature cake inside. Despite the concept of a mini cake being delicate, wonky handwriting is scrawled and piped on top. It’s barely legible, so you squint.
“It’s supposed to be honey cake, but uh... don’t be surprised if it doesn’t taste quite right.” He says. “I had a friend of mine teach me, but I doubt it’s as good as yours.”
You two stand there in awkward silence until finally, you understand the words on the cake. “i like you” is what it says. Suddenly not only did the butterflies come back, frogs were also caught in your throat. The boy you liked.... likes you back?
“You... you like me?” The statement that leaves your mouth comes out as more of a question, the shock and confusion stunning your senses.
He nods. “Do you... like the cake?”
“It’s absolutely stunning,” you breathe out. Of course you would like it, Cedric Diggory made it for you.
He hands you a fork and motions you to sit on the stone ledge. You do so numbly, eager to taste. You take a bite and let fluffy texture fill your heart and soul. “Cedric, it’s delicious! I love everything about it.”
You glance at him, and maybe it’s just you, but his face is a breath away from yours. Warmth radiates between you two before he breaks the silence.
“..Can I kiss you?”
It was sweet like honey –– sweet like him.
--x--
A/N: oh boy that was a long one...... Definitely inspired by some honey cake I had lol

Is This a Date? || Ron
Tumblr media
[Requested!]
Genre: fluff
Summary: You’ve been hanging out with your best friend, Ron, a lot lately. You like him as more than that, but maybe you already are? “...is this a date?”
A/n: I apologize for taking so long on this one!! I just couldn’t think of good date ideas,, and I kind of changed the request a little bit? but not really??
--x--
You met Ron in Transfigurations after a mishap that turned your pencil into a snake. Since then, you’ve always leaned towards the trio and their exponentially good wand work in various classes together. Ron, specifically, became the closest friend you’ve ever had.
“....’Mione?” You asked out of curiosity. You two were studying together in the girls dorm room. She didn’t look up from her flurry of notes, but you knew she was listening. “How do you know if... if you like someone as more than a friend?”
A minute goes by, two minutes, and you started to regret asking. It’s a stupid question anyways, really. You go to brush off the awkward tension in the air, but Hermione was one step ahead of you. “I think it depends on the person you’re with. If you want a relationship, chances are you’ll want more than a simple hug or high five.” She says.
You nod thoughtfully, although in your mind, a hug or a high five is still really cool. “—but then again. I remember reading this thing where you can like someone as a friend and a lover.” She pauses and looks at you with a quizzical gaze. “I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s kind of like being... ambidextrous?”
“So I can like them as a lover, but,” you leaned in closer. “...being their friend is just as good?”
“Yeah, something like that.”
And that was that. It seemed to clear things up for the most part; it definitely explained why Ron’s smile catches you off guard sometimes, or why his touch feels like it’s lighting a spark against your skin. You didn’t ask any more questions, content with the advice already given.
Time goes by, and you’re not really sure why, but Ron has been holding your hand more often and sitting closer to you than before. Not that you’re complaining, they’re small details for the most part. Yet it fills your stomach with butterflies every time it happens. This is what normal best friends do, right?
You start to hang out together too; one on ones, quality alone time with Ron. Playing chess, watching muggle films, drinking butter beer, even studying! (At least, trying to.) Today, the great wizards seem to be in your favor.
“No need to thank us,” the twins smile smugly to each other. “We’re just clearing the Weasley’s name.”
“What debt is it this time?” Ron’s ever-growing hair moves along with him. Confusion writes plain as day on his face, but you clear your throat.
“I think they... owe me?” You chuckle in surprise. They were one exam away from from failing, but with your help, they were back up in no time at all. Ron let the relief wash over him, and he gladly takes the two ice cream desserts from Fortescue’s. You smile,”Want to eat these in the common room?”
He nods, and off you two went. Time flies by, and everything seems to be a blast. He’s holding your hand, your other one still occupied with ice cream. You’re not sure what it is, but this moment pulls at your heart strings. You’ve just said a terrible joke, but he still doubles over in so much laughter, Ron can barely contain himself. The bright smile, the sound of his voice; moments like these is when you feel it. Love. Romance. A crush on Ron Weasley.
But then he does something you aren’t expecting. His hand is still on yours: warm and gentle, silently grounding you to reality. His face is red as it moves closer to yours, and you swear he’s going in to kiss you. Your heart starts pounding as if its current speed wouldn’t give you enough blood flow as it is. Half out of panic and the other instinct, you untangle your intertwined fingers in an attempt to push his face away.
“What...” you take in several shallow breaths. “...what was that?”
Ron is shocked and more or less embarrassed. He looks away shyly, his face getting redder by the second. “Well, we haven’t kissed yet and I was just—“
“—wait,” your eyes widen. Friends definitely don’t kiss each other, that’s for certain. Suddenly, your senses are overwhelmed by everything in this room: tension included. “... is this a date? Are we dating?”
It was his turn to be confused because, what else could this be? “...yes? We’ve been dating for a month now. At least, I thought so?”
A dry laugh escapes you, and you facepalm at your own mistake. The tension fades from your fingertips, and slowly, your heart‘s pacing returns to its normal beat. “This whole time I thought... Oh Merlin, I’m so glad I’m with you.”
Ron still doesn’t get it, but he doesn’t have to. In a haze of realization, you move in to finally close the gap between you two. The creamy taste of ice cream is still between his lips; sugary and sweet. If only you had known sooner, maybe you could’ve kissed him then?
------
A/n: it’s a tad short, but this idea popped into my head and I had to write it!!

700 Followers Celebration - 100 fic recs!
A/N- So, in order to celebrate my 700 under followers, I decided to recommend 100 fics from some of the most brilliant authors in this fandom. Obviously I wasn’t able to cover all, but I tried my best. I spent the last two days going through masterlists and picking my favorites, or just linking the ones that I had read before.
They’re all categorized by character name, I’ve tried to cover 21 characters, spread over 100 fics, so I hope there’s something for everyone.
I hope you all enjoy, and once again, thank you SO much for all the love and support!

That’s Definitely You || Fred
Tumblr media
[requested!]
Genre: Fluff
Summary: You never thought your first kiss would be taken by your best friend, Fred Weasley. “You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that.”
Fred x Gryffindor!Reader
A/N: Weasleys are going to be the death of me lol
--x--
Tonight was almost like any other game night; one filled with cheers and laughter. The busy crowd trying to worm their way in early to find good seats. Tonight would be the first game of the year, and not only that, but word had gotten around that Harry Potter was playing as Seeker this year. You were standing outside the tent, waiting to get a glimpse of your favorite players.
Fred saw you and instantly his face lit up like a Christmas tree. “Y/n!” He said.
“Hey Fred,” you smiled up at his tall figure,” Just wanted to wish you boys good luck.” Your arms glide around his torso as you pulled him in for a hug. You let go, and find that Fred’s face contorted into that of a frown. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m just wondering how bad the Slytherins will feel after we beat them with little ‘ol Harry here,” He stifled a laugh, already imagining another win at the end of the night.
“Oh bug off, Fred,” You giggle,” That’s only if you win.” You cross your arms defiantly for a moment before bubbling up with another round of giggles. “Only joking, you know. I’ll see you from the stands then?”
Fred’s face was still, and he was staring. (at you, might I add) “...Fred?”
“Y..Yeah,” He looks down with a sheepish smile. His cheeks were rose colored, but he brushed it off before you could ask. “I’ll see you.” And just as quickly as the visit started, he waved goodbye and walked back into the confines of the tent.
The stands were filled to the brim, just waiting to see Harry’s first match against Slytherins. You stood in the stands waving your well-worn banner with your good friend, Dean, a fellow Gryffindor. It reads: “We love our Weasleys” with little sparkles glimmering every once in awhile because of a charm you casted.
The match was an absolute rollercoaster. Jordan’s commentary had filled the stands with information as you watched on in awe. You never really knew how quidditch players did it. They looked so cool and brave whizzing around up there, scoring left and right. It was a fairly matched game tonight, with the exception of a cheating Slytherin and despite having a new player on the team.
Dean handed you her pair of binoculars when she noticed you squinting. “Here, sweetheart,” She chuckles,” I know you want to see your boyfriend up there; whichever twin it is.”
“Oh for merlin’s sake,” you scoffed. “He isn’t my boyfriend.” You know she’s only teasing you, but you can’t help but burn up a little when Dean mentioned it. You had to bite your tongue when you almost said Fred’s name, the name sounding so natural next to the word ‘boyfriend.’ Being in love with your best friend was hard, and it was even harder to contain yourself in public about it.
Looking through the lens, you spotted Fred whirling the bludger to the opposite side of the field. You smiled to yourself as you see the happy look on his face when the iron ball zooms straight for a Slytherin’s broomstick. He always looked attractive whenever he played, but that was a secret you’d gush about later to Dean.
After sitting through one of the most thrilling matches yet, Gryffindors won! You could hear the ‘I told you so’ and ‘can’t believe you doubted us’ already haunting you before you even approach the twins as they exited off of the field. Fred was still glistening with sweat when you and Dean approached.
Fred opened his mouth, but you cut him off saying,” --If you say what I think you’re about to say, I’m leaving.”
He paused for a moment, casually wiping sweat off with a towel. You tried your hardest not to stare, but to be fair, he was being very distracting. “I told you so, y/n.” A shit eating grin covered his face because he knew those were the exact words you didn’t want to hear from him.
“--I can’t believe you had the audacity to doubt us!” George called out from a distance before catching up with the conversation. You rolled your eyes, but the playful smile you sported told them that it didn’t mean any harm.
“After the crushing win today,” Dean briefly looked back at the stands,” I bet the after party is going to be wild tonight boys.”
“We’re counting on it.” The twins said in unison. Fred winked at you, and you watch as George nudged his arm. The Weasleys walked off towards their dorms to get ready, leaving Dean to deal with the aftermath.
Aftermath: you gawking. “...Am I reading too much into that?” you squeaked. A warm, almost burning, feeling was in your cheeks, swirling around and making you flush. Dean rolled her eyes as she dragged you away to your dorm.
“If you stare anymore, you’ll burn holes onto the back of that weasel’s head.”
---
The celebration was booming in the Gryffindor common room. Music, food, and chatter hit you immediately upon entering. “Y/n! Dean! Glad to see you blokes.” George yelled over the noise. He just let loose one of the many contraptions him and his brother came up with, letting it whiz into the air and explode into a big ball of confetti.
“Where’s Fred?” you asked.
“Oh boy,” George grinned,” wouldn’t you like to know?”
“Very funny.” you quirked your brow and waited for a legitimate answer. The Weasley’s were always good at dodging questions; they’d give some half answered vague remark and then disappear, which is exactly what just happened. “George?”
Dean snorted as she watched George run off somewhere into the crowd. “Good luck getting anything out of him.”
You let yourself enjoy the party, the tray of catered butterbeer satisfied your taste buds as you leaned against a wall. Dean had wandered off long ago to find her brother, leaving you to your lonesome. The room was packed in, so much so, that some even left to party quietly in the halls. You gazed at the many people on the makeshift dance floor before getting whisked there yourself by someone’s hand.
“Fred?”
“No,” he scoffed,” George.”
He twirled you around in his arms, and grooved to the music. His ginger hair swayed along, and you laughed in his arms. “That’s definitely you, Fred.”
“What?” He beamed,” How did you know?”
“Only you shimmy around like that and call it dancing,” you stifled your laughter when he mocked an offended look. He gasped and looked at you with wide eyes.
“I was going to call you clever,” he joked,” but that was quite hurtful you know.” The music was muffled as you got lost in Fred’s presence. It was only the two of you dancing like you always did; no one else mattered in this moment. The way he smiled, and the way you smiled back was just plain romantic. Only lovers look the way you do, but you’d never admit that out loud. Not to your best friend, at least.
The biggest shock of the night happened when he spun you around and dipped you like in one of those muggle films. You held tightly onto him, worried you might fall but loving the thrill all the same. Fred pulled you back up, your face inches away from his. He hesitated for a moment, like his nerves were all jumbled up.
His breath was warm, and you saw the way his eyes flicked from your eyes to your lips. Fred licked his own and leaned in closer, letting your lips touch together for the first time. They were soft and sweet, the lingering taste of butterbeer shared between your lips. And to think, your very first kiss was taken by your best friend, the one you wanted to do it with the most. His forehead was still against yours when he pulled away, cheeks glowing hot as he stammered.
 “--I’m sorry... I should’ve asked I--”
You pulled him under for another one; the muffled music now coming back at full volume. You could hear the people closest to you whistling and cheering. This kiss was rougher than the last, but the stupid grin on his face when you pulled away was worth it. “You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that..” left your lips with a smile. “The least you could’ve done was take me out first, though.”
His hand that was in your hair moved to rest on your cheek. “I could take you out,” he suggests, “but I quite liked that kiss. It’d be a shame to pretend it didn’t happen.” He looked at you before you both tumbled into a fit of laughter, lost in your own world. “To be honest y/n, I’ve never done this before,” Fred admits.
“Me neither,” you chuckle. “I’m glad it’s with you though.”
--x--
A/N: Do y’all have any good hogwarts date ideas? I wanted to do something other than the Yule ball/ Hogsmeade trip for Ron; do you think he’d be up for a study date in the library?
