It’s always difficult to decide which pieces of the media to tag when you’re in a fandom that has 50k different series and movies and books like star wars or a fandom that has seven different adaptations like moomins. 90% of the story takes place in this one book/game/movie, so obviously I tag that. One of the characters talks extensively about something that happens in this particular novel that influenced their behavior, but it’s ignored or contradicted in the animated series. Do I tag the book so readers know that I’m mixing canons? Should I just add a note? Do I ignore it entirely and trust the readers will figure it out? I feel like I never choose the same option twice.

Not to be a homestuck but I think it would be cool if ao3 had a relationship marker for important and strong enemy relationships the same way it has a relationship marker for important romantic and platonic relationships. Doesn't feel right to use the & or the / tbh.
