Please keep in mind that I write these literally as the thought is vomited out of my brain - Also spoilers if you haven’t finished the first book, duh

Gild

·       First of this book literally starts with Auren watching the King have an orgy

·       Auren is the King’s prized “saddle” and every part of her skin is gold. Gold hair, gold skin, gold eyes.

o   She also has 24 “ribbons” that come out of her back along her spine and they are prehensile

·       The king whom she loves (ew) is Midas

o   He is king of the 6th Kingdom

·       Auren lives in a gilded cage – get it? GILDed

·       Midas set up the king of the 5th Kingdom to attack the 4th Kingdom

o   Midas promised to trade 1 night with Auren for the Kings army

o   She doesn’t really trust Midas anymore – she thought he would always protect her

·       King of the 4th Kingdom is King Ravenger or “King Rot”

·       King of 5th doesn’t matter because Midas kills him.

o   Before he can have his night with AUren

·       Midas married into royalty by marrying the princess of the 6th Kingdom.

o   You have to some sort of power to rule

o   Midas’s wife is the true heir but she did not have power

·       Midas and Auren knew each other before he became king. He “saved” her, again ew. Honestly he kinda seems like a douche.

·       Midas’s favorite number is 6. It has been mentioned multiple times so I feel like it will show up later.

·       Midas’s wife does not like Auren and has a guard beat her up but Auren keeps her mouth shut

·       Midas takes over the 5th Kingdom until the prince comes of age. I already feel like this is a lie.

·       Once he gets settled there he sends for Auren and the other Saddles, they travel at night to be little sneaky sneaks.

·       The weather is terrible it’s a long journey blah blah.

·       Digby who is Auren’s guard from the castle leads the party.

·       They are checking to see if there is going to be an avalanche and they attacked by Snow Pirates!

o   Was surprised by this the first time around

o   Also the ships are pulled by like giant snow cats that have fire paws

·       Sail – who is a guard that is in the party that has befriended Auren gets killed! NEVER START TO LIKE THE GUARDS! They always die.

o   Note at this point I think we are assuming Digby is dead we haven’t seen him since before the snow pirates attacked when he went to go find a missing scout

·       Once on the ship the Captain figures out who Auren is. He claims her for himself and basically just lets the crew loose on the other saddles.

·       Auren uses her ribbons to get down Sail’s body from where the pirates literally used his body as a sail.

·       She is about to be “punished” by the captain when he gets a hawk saying that someone is coming

·       When the ship is stopped 12 soldiers come onto the ship, then a 13th one comes up and Auren recognizes that he is FAE.

o   BOOM plot twist – bet you didn’t know this was a FAE book!

·       Orea is the kingdom they live in

o   There used to be seven kingdoms instead of six

o   Now there is just a bridge to nowhere that hangs off the end of the world

o   The bridge is called Lemuria

·       Only one person has ever crossed the bridge and come back

o   Her name is Saira Turley and she found Annwyn – the Fae realm

·       Just go read Chapter 32 – I feel like it is knowledge that will be needed later. It’s only like 3 pages just go do it!

·       The Fae who shows up is Commander Rip, so called because he literally is known for ripping people’s heads off

o   He has six black spikes down his spine

§  Hmm six like Midas, spikes like Auren’s ribbons?

·       The pirates mention that they got a “tip” that Midas’s riding party would be there

o   Commander Rip also mentions he got a tip

·       Commander Rip has killed all of the messenger birds that Captain Fane sent out and wants to buys all of Midas’s party

·       Captain Fane tries to hide Auren from the Commander and when that doesn’t work he takes her and Rissa, another saddles, to enjoy them before they get taken away

·       He rapes Rissa, and is into violence, then Auren attacks him and turns him into gold

o   Weird – seems like the power Midas has

·       The first mate on the sip is suspicious about Captain Fane (the girls threw his gold statue of a body out the window and said he left with the money)

·       Commander Rip see’s them and Auren tells him “I know what you are” and he responds with “Funny, I was about to say the same thing to you” duh duh duh…

·       The books ends with a Midas POV chapter with him finding out Auren has been taken

Book Recaps?

My fellow booktok book lovers, I have a question. Do you wait to start series until you KNOW that it is going to be finished, yes to avoid the waiting obviously but also so that you don’t have to re-read the series each time. Unless it’s ACOTAR but that one is special and we all know it. My TBR is way toooo long for that. So I decided to make a bulleted list, the bulleted list that I always end up looking for on Google or TikTok. Including all the important points because lets be honest by the time I am onto the next book or series I won’t even remember the main characters names.

I’m starting with The Plated Prisoner series. I know that is probably not the most popular but I waited to reread the series until the fourth book came out, which it did this past week. So I went onto Goodreads and was informed that it was not the last book and there will be a fifth book that isn’t coming out until June of 2023! I feel like I will end up with more bullets than I intended but meh, it is what it is. However if I like doing this I will continue to do it with other series. Maybe starting with whatever series are coming up. The final Zodiac Academy per chance, or From Blood and Ash.

So my question for you all is 

Would others be interested in it?
