Fish linocut pattern in two colourways, another Spoonflower design challenge entry for the "block print-inspired" theme. You can find them here! 🐟💭
To make this I vectorised a mini-linocut print of a fish I made a couple of years ago... The block is only about 4cm or so wide. Just a little fella.
I considered using the boat too, but it didn't really work out.
It was fun, my plate has been rather full lately but I want to do more printmaking... (insert joke about printing plates)

I've wanted to make an autumnal version of this pattern (and the rest of the collection it's part of) almost since I first made it, but could never quite get the colours to work out right. Finally went back to it recently and I think it's working out this time. 🍂

My FFXIV art contest prize arrived...!
It was advertised as being signed by Yoshi-P, but also bears the signatures of Soken, Koji, Foxclon, Masato Shida and Tatsuya Okahisa, who were all on stage at London Fanfest, and a message from the community team.
Truly an honour.💜

Pattern for the "Serene Wallscapes" Spoonflower design challenge a couple of weeks ago... my first entry to one of those in a while.
Thinking of something relaxing... I was imagining leaves and petals being carried downstream by a river.

So... today it was announced that this piece is a winner...! I'm still kind of stunned by it and incredibly thankful for everyone who's voted and commented. I feel like this piece was the culmination of a decade of love for FFXIV, and I'm very happy that it's been so widely appreciated.
The dev team have undoubtedly seen my art too at this point and I hope they enjoyed it even a fraction as much as I've enjoyed their game. FFXIV turned my life around from a very low point, and that definitely makes this feel even more significant.
My artwork for the FFXIV EU Fanfest Art Contest, based on the intro to Shadowbringers, one of the most memorable scenes in the whole game for me. I'm so happy to be chosen as a finalist!
I spent a very long time on the details of this piece, including various flora and fauna from around Lakeland. I remember looking up through the trees from the first place you wake up, seeing vines hanging down and birds flying overhead. The place is so strange and deeply affected by the everlasting light, and yet still full of life that has survived in spite of these conditions... And then, there is the Crystal Tower rising above the hills in the distance, a familiar beacon standing out against the unsettling sky.
For me this moment represents so much of what I adore about the experience of this game and it's one I'll never forget.

The FFXIV hairstyle contest results were announced today, lots of great designs among the winners! Looking forward to seeing some of them implemented, particularly those that we don't have anything like currently.
This was my entry. I tried to come up with something fairly versatile that fits a niche we don't currently have filled in-game, though of course, I did think about which of my own characters it would look good on... so I might still use it for that purpose even though it wasn't a winner.
Usually when coming up with hairstyles I just wing it, and even when I've made model sheets for my own characters there's still a lot of flexibility and creative license available - trying to create a design that could make sense as a 3D model was a great challenge that gave me a lot to think about.
I also started trying out accommodations for Miqo'te and Viera ears but didn't have time to finish before the deadline.

For some time I've had a dilemma regarding how I sell prints. Using print-on-demand services like Redbubble and INPRNT has been life-changing for me and I'm very grateful for their existence, but as time goes by the margins I get from them are just not enough to be sustainable in the long term. For this reason I want to move away from them and become more independent - and it's not just because of income, being independent would give me more control over the products I make and how I present them, though organising that is also a challenge on a number of levels.
I've been reluctant to raise the prices of my prints where I already sell them, because I don't want people to have to pay significantly more than what other artists charge on the same marketplaces just to receive what I think is an appropriate margin for my work. Plus, if I vanish from those platforms overnight in favour of an independent shopfront, it may not work out because of how much more work I would have to put into admin and self-promotion, something I already find taxing.
I'm thinking about trying a more gradual shift over time, slowly putting prints and other merchandise up for sale on Etsy and my own website, where I would receive more for my work and also be able to offer a wider variety of things, and higher-quality ones too. Selling washi tape already went pretty well and I'd like to continue in a similar vein.
I'm posting this partially because it's weighing on my mind and I need to get it out of there, and also because I want to be transparent about what I'm thinking of doing and why, since in some cases the costs would rise. Also, please don't be discouraged from buying from Redbubble and INPRNT - it's still a huge help to me and many other artists, and I don't plan on leaving either platform any time soon, but I do want to work towards a situation that's much better both for me and the people buying from me in the long term.

Thanks so much everyone for the love for this piece 💜 If anyone is at Fanfest and happens to see it on display I'd love to have a picture of it!
