His love for Gaza shone through in his photographs, seen in his steadfast portrayals of joy and beauty. Whimsical compositions by the sea depict young boys jumping and playing. In a series of works focused on his grandmother, a survivor of the 1948 Nakba who was displaced from her native village of Isdud, Arandas portrays her as a symbol of strength and perseverance in Gaza, zooming in on her weathered hands harvesting olives against deep fertile earth. Traces of personal and cultural histories can be seen in the crisp light of ripe olives and the details of intricate embroidery adorning her hanging dress.
“Where can I begin talking about Gaza and Palestine, and how can I begin when I know that I am the living dead? Everyone who writes about Palestine has prepared himself to be among the dead, but despite our prior knowledge of our fate when we write and write about this land, we do not stop or for a moment hesitate to inhale her love,” he reflected.
Remembering Gaza Photographer Majd Arandas, Killed by Israeli Airstrikes

"A Child’s View from Gaza" was an art exhibition showcasing drawings created by the children of Gaza.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The captioned illustrations were created by Palestinian children who lived through the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in 2008-09. The pictures were drawn as part of an effort to help children deal with the horrors they had experienced. A Bay Area nonprofit, Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), arranged to display a collection of these pictures at the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, California. However, under pressure from the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and other organizations, the museum backed out of the agreement at the last minute."

you can disregard anything the US government and israel says about hamas without solid proof (so far manufactured); they literally already attempted atrocity propaganda, and the US government used atrocity propaganda to promote wars in the past as well.
when it comes to claims made by imperialists you approach them as guilty of lying until proven innocent because those lies have a body count

I know most of you have seen the videos of "Gaza before October 7" and it shows the beautiful sunsets, horses, gorgeous beaches of Gaza
It makes total sense that these videos are made by Palestinian living in Gaza
But it is suuuuuuper weird to blindly repost these without really acknowledging the enormous shadow looming over each of these wholesome, colourful clips
In the background of these clips is a population of 2.2 million, 1.7 million of whom are refugees, crammed in one of the most densely populated areas globally, often described as an open air prison
The same area has been placed under a brutal siege by Israel since 2007
This siege means that no one/nothing can enter or leave Gaza without obtaining permission from Israel which they more often than not deny.
This resulted in over 60% of the population are food insecure as Israel controls all the food that enters Gaza, placing the whole population on a controlled diet.
In turn, 80% of the population depends on humanitarian assistance.
This also meant that over 80% of people in Gaza live below the poverty line with ~50% unemployment rate.
When it comes to water and electricity, 97% of Gaza's water is unfit for human consumption and Gaza receives only 30% of its needed electricity.
On top of that, as part of the siege, people who need treatment outside of Gaza are usually denied permits by Israel and are left to die under siege.
So clearly Israel didn't begin bombing Gaza in October 2023, rather this can only be described as an acceleration of its ongoing violence and bombardment of the besieged strip, not to mention its regular shooting of fishermen at sea as another arbitrary act of violence against the besieged civilian population of Gaza.
Yes, Gaza is beautiful despite everything and it will be most beautiful in the eyes of its residents. But we (us, you and me who aren't in Gaza) should be smarter than to just repost "Gaza before October 7" without any additional context, furthering the assumption that the history of the Palestinian struggle started on October 7.

FREE PALESTINE / END THE GENOCIDE ON GAZA
This piece was made to show support for Palestinians. This mountain gazelle was created with the colors of the flag and the meaningful patterning of the keffiyeh.

"Al Jazeera is funded by the qatar government" AL Jazeeras palestinian reports come from Palestinian journalists who live in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza. I don't know how anyone can seriously make this accusation and expect us to believe that every Palestinian al Jazeera reporter is given a script and qatari money in their pocket instead of believing theyre reporting on their every day life.
Instead of putting al Jazeera on your anti semitic bingo card every year, name more than 20 Palestinian journalists that work for (not only have written in) the Times of Israel or CNN. And ask yourself why their reports on Palestine should be more reliable than the many palestinian journalists who work for al Jazeera and other "nefarious" news outlets

Egyptian governments is currently in the process of tearing down Muslim shrines and graves in Cairo's City of The Dead for no reason (to modernize they said) and it's a disturbing trend because if they do this to their ancient heritage, it would attract worldwide condemnation but since these graves and shrines are part of premodern Islamic history, nobody but a few gives a fuck
If I'm not very online on twitter I would have not known about it
