I am still extremely confident that it's not the light in ffxiv that's as much the issue as it is the COLOUR. there is a lack of colour theory in this game. this is why ps2 games like ffxii look so good. the artists understand how to use colour

ffxiv is very "sky is blue. grass is green" and if you know some colour theory you'll know what I mean. colours are given meaning when next to other colours. the sky doesn't need to be blue to appear blue and grass doesn't need to be green to appear green

this is why ffxiv has that "shaded with black" look we hear about (though this is a huge simplification of how colour works)

and colours should reflect in the shadows of other objects. for example when I changed the floor from dark wood to white in my ffxiv apartment, the colours in the walls and every piece of furniture should have changed to reflect the floor. they did not

this is also why every zone looks so similar to one another. there is no colour variety so you get the same palette every single time

I lost the cat I grew up with yesterday :( saying goodbye to him was the hardest moment of my entire life. my heart keeps aching and things feel all wrong. I keep crying. there's a hole in my heart in the shape of my cat. I can't stop thinking about his final moments. if I go into more detail I'll cry again. remembering yesterday feels like remembering a nightmare

last night I dreamed about him. I dreamed he went missing, and I was in the neighbourhood around my house looking for him. I can't remember if I ever found him
