It was the dead of night when you finally arrived back at your hotel room. The stillness of the air mixed with the silence of the car ride back had you on edge and it really didn’t help that your current company had spent the entire car ride stewing in rage as she drove you both. JJ was absolutely fuming and you were the cause of it. Well, at least she blamed you for it. If anyone asked you, you’d disagree and say she was overreacting, like she usually did with you.
It had only been a year since you started at the BAU as the new communications liaison and you were still learning. The whole team seemed to love you though and helped you every step of the way. The whole team, except one that is. One Jennifer Jareau to be exact. She was nice to you for maybe the first month or two, but then things started to change. She would be short with you, antagonize you, challenge you. Somehow, it always felt like you were doing something wrong.
You knew she had your job before she became a profiler, so at first you assumed she just felt a little reluctant to give up her old position. Maybe she felt some weird pride in how she did the job and was so set in her ways that she had a particular idea of how it should be done. So, however harsh she may have been, you would take her notes. But then, you started going out more with the team and any time she would be there she would be short with you and just as harsh. That made you quickly realize, it wasn’t the job you were doing that she hated, it was you.
After a few months you asked a few people on the team to help get you in shape in case you were put in a few dangerous situations. You had heard stories about how JJ had been in her old position, you knew that even if your main job wasn’t to be in the field, there would be scary moments. Even Penelope Garcia had been in a few, and she was the tech person who mainly stayed at the BAU. So, when you started training you were grateful for Morgan and Prentiss to help you out. You’d go on morning jogs with Morgan, Prentiss would help you learn self defense, and even Hotch would help you with your aim so you could get signed off to carry a gun in the field if need be. You promised that part wasn’t necessary, but Hotchner insisted on it just in case.
Months had passed after you started learning from all of the team, and training was going well. Your stamina was building from the morning jogs, your self defense skills were better, albeit you weren’t as fast, coordinated, or strong as the rest of the team, and your aim was improving. You couldn’t help, but feel a sense of pride with each passing day, but then she started joining in. It started with your morning jogs. Morgan’s excuse was that JJ asked and he insisted the more the merrier. Then it went to your self defense practice with Emily. Her excuse was that you could learn more from both of them together than just one alone. And finally, she joined you with Hotch. This time, JJ gave the excuse, saying she could use the extra practice herself. For some reason, you didn’t totally buy that.
With each session with your three fellow coworkers, suddenly, all that newfound pride went down the drain. She picked apart your every move. You couldn’t match her speed when you were supposed to be doing a light jog, you couldn’t outsmart her when practicing self defense, and your aim was just a little too off for her liking. JJ made sure to make a comment or two every single time she watched you. What seemed to irk you even more was that no one else around you noticed. She tended to have the perfect timing to criticize you when everyone else wasn’t paying attention. For a brief moment, you thought about giving up. Saying no thank you to any more training, but then you decided that meant she won. What was the competition? You didn’t seem to know, but you had a feeling you were secretly in one with her. Why else would she challenge you so much? So you didn’t give up, you made it a personal goal to prove to her that you could succeed. You’d improve your endurance, your strength, your reflexes as much as you possibly could until she had nothing left to complain about.
Unfortunately, you set that goal over four months ago. Instead of shutting her up, it seemed like she had even more to judge you for.
Fast forward to present day and you and the team had a nasty case to deal with. A small town, horrific murders, a handful of crime scenes. One thing you knew about small towns is that word traveled fast, so getting a handle on media coverage was crucial. You were in the public eye frequently, you talked to countless people, and all eyes seemed to be on you. Since that was the case, and it seemed this unsub had no problems retaliating against law enforcement when they got too close, Hotch insisted on an extra set of eyes on you. Sure, you’ve been trying to improve to be a more capable member of the team, but it’s not like you went through the training or had the field experience that all of them did, so it made sense that they worried for you. However, much to your surprise, that extra protection came in the form of none other than Jennifer Jareau.
To your surprise, when it came to protection over you she went all out. She refused to leave your side, even for a moment. That meant you spent every waking moment with her. The breaks you took from the case, the meals you had, hell she even insisted on sharing a hotel room “just in case.” You argued back and forth with her for a good hour about how a hotel room next to each other would be good enough, but there was really no arguing with her. That woman was the most stubborn person you’ve ever met. It was infuriating, but you found a small positive in having her looming over you. She was easy to piss off, and you made it a game to push her buttons.
What you didn’t expect was to thoroughly piss her off one night during the case. If you thought she was difficult to deal with when she was mildly annoyed by you, it was nothing compared to her being visibly angered by you.
The evening started out fine. The case had gone on a few days and it seemed the team was no closer to the unsub than the day you all arrived. What you all needed was to get to know the locals, get out into the community, ask around. So, you all had your tasks. You and JJ were to go to the local bar, your job was to ask around, get information, and gauge what the locals were saying about the case. However, you realized quickly not many of them wanted to budge. Not many were sharing information willingly.
After being shot down by a group of people, you returned to the bar for a break. Huffing in frustration as you sat, sipping on water (because after all you still had a job to do). JJ was on the other side of the bar, still trying to talk up a few people for information. If there was one thing about JJ that you admired, it was her determination. You were feeling like giving up on this task three failed attempts of conversation ago. Yet, there she was continuing on. If you were being honest, there was more than just one thing you admired about her. As harsh and frustrating as she could be, she was also driven and passionate. She went into everything giving 100%, no matter how small the challenge was. The way she worked, showing compassion for those she worked with, yet staying strong at the most horrifying or tragic things the team faced. You could barely keep yourself together in front of the team with some of the stuff you saw, but when you looked at JJ all you saw was unrelenting strength and bravery. Sure, she was mean to you and you were pretty sure she hated your guts, but that didn’t stop you from respecting her as a coworker and member of the team.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
The voice came from beside you, startling you out of your deep thought.
“Huh?” was all you could think to say, your brain not quite registering what was asked. You looked over to who was speaking to you, only to see a man who you had yet to talk to had placed himself right next to you. A little too close for comfort if you were being honest. There was a reason you hadn’t reached him yet too. In fact, you had hoped JJ would take care of talking to him. He had been eying you since you walked in and it didn’t take a profiler to know what he wanted from you. Unfortunately for him, you weren’t interested. But unfortunately for you, he didn’t seem to take the hint.
“Do you want a drink?” He repeated, waving over the bartender before you could even respond.
“Oh, no I’m good.”
“Come on,” he scooted closer and you visibly shrank down. “Let me buy you one.”
You were torn. On one hand you were here for a job and he was someone who was willing to come talk to you when no one else wanted you there. On the other hand, you can’t drink while working, he didn’t seem the type to let you just pretend to sip on it, and quite frankly if you did get a drink, you wouldn’t take your eyes off it or him for a second. But you also knew that on the other side of the bar JJ was way more successful talking to the locals and you felt a spark of competitiveness when you watched her effortlessly converse with the other patrons. If this man was willing to actually come to you, should you really pass up this opportunity? You watched the profilers play people like a fiddle on a regular basis for work, maybe you picked up a thing or two for this very moment.
“What do you say?” He pressed on. His hand clasping down on your shoulder.
If you felt uncomfortable before, his touch made your whole body freeze. Maybe this imaginary competition with JJ isn’t exactly worth it.
“I-“
“She’s good.” JJ interrupted you the second you opened your mouth. She came out of nowhere. You didn’t even know she was paying attention to you this whole time. Turns out she had been completely aware of you and how you were failing miserably the entire evening. She may not have been next to you, but she listened for your voice across the room, whenever you moved she would note it in the corner of her eye. So when she realized the man she clocked as inappropriately staring you down had found the guts to come approach you, she was ready to pounce.
And pounce she did. But not on him, no of course not. Her anger was turned towards you.
“Let’s go,” JJ didn’t wait for you to respond, brushing off the man’s hand on your shoulder herself before replacing it with hers. Only her grip was more firm, her fists closing around the material of your shirt as she practically hoisted you off the bar stool and dragged you towards the door.
“What about talking to the locals?” You questioned, stumbling over your feet to keep up with JJ.
“I got what we needed,” she said through gritted teeth, eyes never meeting yours as she dragged you all the way back to the car. “Get in. Now.”
Too stunned to even argue, you did exactly as she said. Your body felt like it was on autopilot, still too shocked about her behavior and reaction to even realize what you were doing when you felt yourself clip your seatbelt on.
Whether it was a blessing or a relief that the car ride was silent, you weren’t sure. JJ drove with her hands in fists on the wheel, gripping it so tight her knuckles were white. She was furious and it honestly had you a little curious as to what set her off so bad. So while the car ride was incredibly uncomfortable, at least she wasn’t screaming at you. That came the moment you both closed the door to your shared hotel room.
“It’s bad enough that I’m stuck here babysitting you,” JJ finally broke her silent fuming. “But do you really have to make it so fucking hard?”
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about!” You really didn’t. It wasn’t like you said yes to the man, you weren’t actually going to drink on the job. Is that what made her so angry?
You stomped further into your shared hotel room. Her tone and behavior already had you absolutely heated. It wasn’t like you asked for her specifically to be the extra security glued to your hip. In fact, you had hoped it would be Morgan or Emily, that way you’d at least have a friend by your side. But no. Instead, you got Jennifer Jareau, the one woman in the entirety of the BAU who absolutely despises you.
“What if he was the unsub?” JJ stalked after you. “You put yourself in danger!”
“Oh please!” you scoffed. “I may not be a profiler like you, but I have some sense of my surroundings when we’re on the job.” You spun around to face JJ and if looks could kill, hers would stop you dead in your tracks. Trying not to show defeat, you squared your shoulders and planted your feet. There was no way you were going to back down to her and let her make you feel wreckless and stupid. You weren’t. You were good at your job and only improving, who was she to make you feel less than that?
“Then did you notice he was following your every move since you got into the bar?”
“Yes.” You rolled your eyes. Of course, you noticed him staring. He wasn’t the first creepy man to try to pick you up from a dive bar.
“And you still let him get right up next to you?”
You just shrugged. If you were being honest, by the time he approached you, you had lost focus on him. But you weren’t going to admit that to the blonde currently staring you down.
“How can you just be so careless?!” JJ threw her hands up in frustration. “Just because he’s not the unsub doesn’t mean he doesn’t have bad intentions and you let him waltz right up to you. He was all over you, (Y/N)!” Okay, you were about to reach your threshold for JJ’s bullshit for the night. Yes, you had lost a little focus, but you weren’t in any danger. This was just one random man trying to pick you up at a bar. Of course, you were going to say no. JJ just didn’t give you the opportunity to even do it.
You decide you don’t want to listen to any more of this. Pushing past JJ and making sure to bump your shoulder with hers when she refuses to move, you make it to the hotel room door. Before you could even turn the knob though, you feel a hand wrapped around your wrist, stopping you in your tracks.
“Where are you going?” JJ pressed on.
“I need some air.” You tried to wrench your wrist away, but she just held it tighter. “Don’t worry, I’ll get Prentiss or Morgan to join me. I’ll talk to them, see if they can take over babysitting.” You practically hissed the last word, frustration getting the best of you finally. It was about time you were done being civil with the blonde. You had no idea what her problem was with you and you were starting to not even care. “That’s what you want, right?”
 “What are you talking about? I asked to be here.” That stopped you.
“What?” You spun around so fast on JJ that if she didn’t still have such a tight hold on you, you would’ve fallen right into her. “You asked? Asked what exactly?”
“This case is serious, (Y/N). I arranged for you to have the extra security.”
“So wait wait wait,” Your brain was moving a mile a minute. What the fuck was she playing at? You couldn’t tell for the life of you. Why would she volunteer to be stuck to you when she hates every move you make? Why did she complain about it being a babysitting job, if she knew what she was getting into? You couldn’t wrap your head around this and the shift in conversation was giving you whiplash. “Not only did you ask to be my extra security… but you also were the one to suggest it in the first place?” JJ just gave you an exhausted look and nodded her head as if you should’ve expected this kind of behavior from her. But the whole idea of this went against everything you knew about her so far. This felt completely out of character.
“Why?” was all you could think to ask. Confirming the string of events had not helped you understand her actions in the slightest.
“I just told you.” JJ’s grip loosened on your wrist, but her hand still remained there.
“No, but why would you even want to be the one to do it? You said so yourself, it’s a babysitting job.”
“Well, it wouldn’t feel like babysitting if I didn’t have to worry about you wandering off all the fucking time!” Ah, there’s the attitude again. JJ’s grip around your wrist tightened yet again and her tone was just as condescending as ever. You really couldn’t follow her right now. She wanted to protect you, but she also hated you? Dots weren’t connecting here.
“Why are you always like this?” You finally cracked. It dawned on you that the only way to figure out what the fuck this woman was talking about was to put all your card out on the table and hoped she would follow suit.
“Like what?” JJ fired back.
“Treating me like I’m incapable! I was chosen to be here for a reason. I earned this job and beat out dozens of other applicants. Yet, you seem to think I can’t even do my job.” You ripped your arm away, finally breaking her grip. Whether you did that out of your own strength or she just let you, you weren’t quite sure. “You say you chose to be stuck with me for this case, but you obviously can’t stand to be next to me. Morgan or Prentiss would’ve done just as good of a job and you know it. So why didn’t you suggest them? I don’t know what your problem is with me or why you hate me, but I-”
“I don’t hate you.” She cut you off, her expression going from anger to shock in two seconds flat. Her tone had you confused. It was like a switch was flipped and suddenly JJ didn’t seem angry with you. She actually seemed just as confused as you were. “Why do you think I hate you?”
“JJ, why wouldn’t I think that?” Your defensive stance slowly dropped as you stood in front of her. No longer feeling like you wanted to win the argument. In fact, you already felt defeated. “I’m always doing something wrong in your eyes. You have something to say about everything I do. Everyone describes this version of you that’s fun and kind, but the minute I enter a room I see you physically close off. Whenever I’m doing anything related to the job you always complain. I get that you don’t like me, but I just wish I knew what I did.”
JJ just stood there for a second. Her eyes went from shock, to frustration, to understanding and then… Possibly pity? You weren’t entirely sure. What you did notice was that she finally stopped looking at you with anger or annoyance. This was a new look for her, but that didn’t make you any less uneasy.
“I wasn’t complaining,” JJ sighed. “And I don’t dislike you.”
You just stood there with your eyebrow quirked. If she didn’t dislike you, she could’ve really fooled you. You saw firsthand that she wasn’t like this with the others on the team.
“You’ve got it all wrong,” JJ’s voice was soft this time, almost hesitant.
“Then explain it to me.”
“I’m pushing you,” JJ corrected. “Because I know you can do better and because this job is dangerous, even when you’re a communications liaison for the team. When I was in your position, I was unprepared, untrained and I got into some sticky situations. It’s a miracle that I’m standing here today. I didn’t want you to have that risk. I couldn’t stand it if…” She paused for a second. You watched as her jaw clenched and unclenched. It was obvious she was struggling with some kind of internal debate, trying to find the right words to share with you. What amazed you was the lack of anger toward you. For once, you were seeing a softer side of JJ and all it took was you admitting that you thought she hated your guts.
“I can’t let you get hurt,” JJ finally said. “I push you to try hard so if I’m not there, you’d still be safe. I asked to keep an eye on you, because I thought you were being put in danger in this case. I want to be close to you, because…” She took a deep breath. “Because I don’t dislike you. It’s the opposite.”
The opposite? What does that even- OH. Oh.
“Oh.” Was all you could manage to say. Did she mean what you thought she meant? It couldn’t possibly be that she had feelings for you, right? You had to be reading into that. A moment ago you thought she couldn’t stand even sharing the same air as you, and now you’re thinking she has thing for you? No, you’re losing it. That or she’s fucking with you. But as you stare back at her, in all your confusion, you can at least recognize that she’s being completely honest. Even throughout all of your bad experiences with her, you still got to know her a little bit. JJ was serious, honest, and straightforward. So it would’ve been incredibly uncharacteristic of her to be playing mind games with you right now.
“I just never thought you felt like that?” You phrased it as a question. Still not sure how to fully understand this weird turn of events. Surely, you’re wrong. You went from two extremes: Her absolutely hating you to her having romantic feelings for you. Could you really have misread everything this whole time? If that’s the case, then you really were horrible at noticing your surroundings. “I really thought you hated me.”
“Yeah, well…” JJ sighed. “I’m not the best at expressing my feelings.”
The two of you just stared at each other for a moment, you still in disbelief and JJ looking almost guilty now. There was no sign of her being anything but genuine. Yet, you still just couldn’t believe it completely.
“Are you messing with me?” You heard yourself say it before you could even really stop it.
“What? No, of course not.” JJ almost looked hurt when you asked that and you almost felt bad about it. Almost, but then you still couldn’t shake the stress and aggravation she put you through the past year. “Look, office romances can be messy and I didn’t want to get tangled up in that, so I tried to keep my distance. But then you started spending time after work with Morgan, Hotchner, and Prentiss and told myself I was joining them to help, to protect you. That was half true. I was really just jealous.”
Wow. Okay, you really didn’t see that coming. So everything back at the bar, it wasn’t even about you being bad at your job. It was about her being jealous that some guy was trying to pick you up. That really wasn’t on your list of theories for what had JJ so pissed off. Things were slowly starting to click now, though. Her insistence to always be where you were going to be was actually planned. You really had thought all those times, it was just the universe playing a cruel joke and putting you two together when she seemed to want to be as far away from you as possible. You had also always wondered why JJ asked to be invited to your training sessions, especially if she specifically knew you’d be there and clearly didn’t need the extra practice herself, even if that was her own excuse. Now, you knew it was both to protect you and be closer to you. Never in a million years would you have thought she felt protective of you and jealous of your attention on someone else. But here you were, staring at a new version of JJ you’ve never seen before. One that’s vulnerable and insecure. One that just admitted that all her actions had been out of jealousy and her overprotectiveness towards you. Fuck… did you think that was kind of cute?
“You were jealous…” You mumbled to yourself. “And everything at the bar was also jealousy?”
“You could’ve been in danger!” JJ groaned in frustration. You only half bought it. Tapping your foot, you waited for JJ to give you the honest answer you knew would come next. “Okay, a little.” There it was.
You both stood there for a moment in silence. All of her confessions still weighing heavily on both of you and the room still feeling incredibly too tense. Suddenly, everything you knew about JJ was completely wrong. Every moment with her got rewritten. You thought back to so many instances that you just totally misread. If you weren’t so intimidated by JJ maybe you could’ve seen this earlier. You wondered if anyone else knew how she felt. They were all profilers, so surely they knew. Hell, the more you thought back to certain moments with JJ the more you wondered how you didn’t know until now.
“Listen,” JJ broke the silence finally. “I didn’t realize that you thought I hated you. If this all makes you uncomfortable then I can ask Prentiss to-”
“No!” You blurted. “I mean, no. It’s okay, I just should’ve talked to you sooner. I want you to stay.”
“Are you sure? I completely understand if not.” JJ began to fish for her phone in her pocket. “I can just call Emily for-”
Without much thought and to the surprise of both of you, it was you who snatched her wrist this time. Only, you didn’t exactly stop there. Suddenly, you found yourself propelling forward, your lips meeting JJ. What were you even doing? You really couldn’t say. All you knew was that you had been utterly oblivious to everything going on around you and the person you found incredibly attractive and incredibly infuriating was trying to tell you this whole time that she had feelings for you. So what did you do to stop her from fleeing the scene of the mess she put you in? You kissed her.  You really kissed her. Your hand had a mind of its own, snaking its way to tangle in her hair.
It took JJ all of one second to realize what was happening. That your lips were smashed against hers in a hasty attempt to get her to shut up. And when she did realize you were kissing her. That you were actually the one to initiate it, she was on cloud nine. The hand that wasn’t locked in your iron grip had reached for your waist, her lips moved with yours in excitement. When you felt her use her hold on your waist to pull you forward and press you fully against her, you couldn’t stop the gasp you let out against her lips.
But that’s also what snapped you out of your impulsive actions.
“Oh fuck!” You jumped back, your hand releasing her wrist to fly to your mouth. Fuck, you actually just kissed Jennifer Jareau. “I’m so sorry.” Your brain wasn’t able to process this whole day. All you could think to do was apologize.
“Hey, I’m not complaining,” JJ gave you a smug grin, her hand tightening on your waist. You didn’t have much of a comeback to that. Turns out, you didn’t even need one as JJ had immediately leaned back in to kiss you again. This time it wasn’t awkward or rushed, it was slow and gentle. It had you melting in the arms of the woman, who moments ago you believed to be your worst enemy. But the way she was kissing you had your heart pounding and your cheeks flushed. Her lips tasted divine and when her other hand came up to cup your chin so she could hold your face closer as she kissed you, you lost yourself even more to the feeling of her.
As surprised as you were to admit it, when she broke the kiss again you didn’t want it to end. For a year, you wanted to be as far away from her as possible, but right now you never wanted her to let you go. Did you always have these feelings for her? Maybe. Maybe that’s why you pushed yourself to step up to the challenges she presented. Maybe you wanted to impress her, to give her reasons to praise you or at least to notice you. Maybe you both were pining for each other, but both of you were far too stubborn to ever admit it.
“What now?” You mumbled as JJ pressed her forehead to yours. Showing you a gentleness you’ve never seen with her.
“Hm…” JJ leaned forward one more time, brushing her lips against yours before pulling back just slightly. “We could finally take Garcia’s advice?”
“Which is?”
“We could finally stop arguing and just go out on a date?” JJ chuckled. “I had to sensor that a little.”
“Oh, I bet.” You grinned and took JJ’s hands in yours. “Okay, take me out on a date then.”
One could say the date went well, and what followed after was even better. When this case started and you were told you’d be stuck with JJ, you expected the worst. You imagined how you’d be tearing each other down the whole time, but what you didn’t, in your wildest dreams, ever expect was to be tearing off each other's clothes. What you thought was a surprise for everyone, was really just about damn time.

Her smile | Natasha Romanoff
Tumblr media
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Summary: Before officially becoming an Avenger you have to shadow each member of the team. On your shadow mission with Natasha you give yourself an extra mission, to make her smile.
masterlist | requests: open | taglist | words: 1780
As a new recruit to the Avengers, you had to shadow each of them on a mission before being cleared to for any official Avenger business. Today you were shadowing Natasha on an intel mission.
It seemed simple enough, get in, download the data onto a USB and get out. A mission you could definitely handle. So, you weren't really worried about that. You were however worried about going on the mission with Natasha. You've been staying at the Compound for about two months now and you have not once seen Natasha smile around you. That and her general coldness towards you makes you believe she doesn't like you all that much.
That's why you decided you'd give yourself a mission within the mission; to make Natasha smile.
Which proved to be even harder than you had originally imagined. She wouldn't budge, at all. As a response to most of your jokes, that you yourself found rather hilarious, she just rolled her eyes and moved with the conversation.
Natasha parked her car somewhere hidden behind the bushes, close to the building that was supposed to have the data you were looking for and told you to get behind her. You immediately complied and waited for her next instruction. Once Natasha gave the all clear the both of you started walking towards the building. You stayed at her hip with your weapon drawn. You move down the halls, trying to find the right room. You had the map and Natasha had told you to give the directions, making sure you knew how to read them properly.
You finally made your way to a room in the basement with an electronic lock. It definitely looked like they were hiding something in here. Natasha aims one of her widow bites at the system and it instantly fries. After a quiet click the lock is disarmed and you head in. Natasha in front with you right behind her.
Once you've cleared the room Natasha finds the port to download the needed intel. Now it was just a waiting game, until the data was fully downloaded onto the USB. Natasha had you stand guard at the door and told you to notify her if you saw anything suspicious.
You didn't and managed to download the data without any interruption. You head back out the way you came in, checking your surroundings for any sign of another person, but again no movements around you. Like you had thought, an easy mission.
You got back in the car and Natasha started driving away. Right as you passed the first corner you noticed a car starting and driving as well. You took a mental note of the license plate and kept your eye out for it. And sure, enough a couple blocks later it was still behind you. "Hey Nat, I think that grey BMW is following us. They have been taking the same turns as us since we first got on this road." Natasha looks in the mirror to find the car, when she sees it she nods, "Good find. We won't know for sure but let's take a detour just to be sure."
She looks around at the road signs, "There." She says shifting lanes to the right. "The mall?" You question. She nods her head again, "Yes we can go into the IT store and send the files, just to be sure. And we can change clothes if necessary."
"Oh, that's smart." You say as Natasha takes the turn into the gigantic mall parking garage. She speeds thought it making sure that if you're being followed you have a head start to get into the mall unnoticed. Meanwhile you're in awe of her driving skills.
You move out of the car quickly and head in. You pass a clothing store and Natasha pulls you in it by your arm. "People are going to recognize me, we can't bring any attention to us." She says as she grabs a grey striped hoodie and a grey leather jacket. She also grabs a blue sweater and a black hat for you and heads over to the cash register.
After she has paid for your disguises you move out of the store again and move to a corner to each put your disguise on. When you're ready you're on the move again quick, but as Natasha moves to go right, you grab her hand and pull her the other way. She looks at you confused. "Third store on the right second floor." She looks up to find the store you're talking about and sees laptops through the window.
"Nice work, you're very observant. That's very good. Let's go." You smile at the compliment and head to the store with her. If you could impress the one Avenger that was cold to you from the start, something must be going well, right?
When you enter the store you both look around, trying to act like normal shoppers while scanning the room for camera’s and employees. Natasha spots two camera’s aimed at the laptop area, but if she picked the right laptop she could block one by standing with her back to it and with the other she just had to be careful and pretend she was just trying out the laptop. You spotted only one employee at the laptop area and the next employees would be too far away to notice anything. “I’ll distract him, ready?” You ask Natasha.
Natasha nods and you take that as your que to walk over to the employee. “Hi sir, I was wondering if you could help me?” He turns towards you and says, “Of course, what can I help you with today?” You walk him over to a laptop all the way at the other side of the area and start asking him all kinds of questions about it. The way the laptop was facing made it that the employee was with his back turned to Nat. You keep asking him questions, that you definitely already had the answer too until you saw Natasha give the signal that she was ready. You turn to the employee again, “Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I will make sure to relay the information you gave be back home and then I’ll be back if we decide on getting it.”
The guy is a bit disappointed that after spending quite some time with you he won’t be making a sale, but he tells you, “Of course, have a nice day. And if you have any further questions, please let me know.” After that he turns around and walks away again.
You walk out of the store and meet back up with Natasha. “Great job back there.” She says. Was she warming up to you? You smiled to yourself, she definitely was. Stone cold Natasha was getting less stone cold by the minute.
Making your way back to the parking garage Natasha noticed two men in suits who were clearly carrying weapons on their hips looking around. Searching for someone, searching for the two of you. She quickly pushed you to the side and placed her hands on your shoulder. You are taken back by the action, not knowing what just happened. Natasha notices the look on your face and says, “They’re here.”
“What does that have to do with pushing me up against a wall?” You say accompanied by a confused look on your face. “Kiss me.” She says. That does not clear your confusion. So, Natasha continues, “Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable.” You nod, finally understanding her idea. You lean forward and kiss her, you place both your hands on her cheeks. A way to block off her face to the men in suits but also because it just felt right. When Natasha pulls back from the kiss she smiles.
Your eyes widen in excitement, "That's the first time I've ever seen you smile!" Natasha takes a step back and playfully rolls her eyes, “That’s seriously going to be your first reaction after kissing me?” On instinct you lean in and kiss her again. You just really wanted to have her soft lips on yours again. She kisses you back instantly, her hands on your hips pushing you into the wall more. You really didn’t want to stop kissing her, but you knew it would be suspicious if you kept going for much longer. So, you pull away from her again slightly.
She looks into your eyes, trying to find why you kissed her again. “They were still there.” You lie. Natasha smiles again, “You know for a good liar, you can also be a really bad one.” She kisses your cheek, “Blushing cheeks are a dead giveaway.”
You start looking worried, you thought you could get away with it, but apparently not. She was never going to give you a positive review on your shadowing mission now. You curse yourself in your head, you really had to let your feeling get in the way.
“Don’t worry, y/n. I wanted to kiss you again too.” She says placing her hand on the small of your back, “Come on, let’s get out of here.” And so, you did. You went back to the car, which miraculously wasn’t being guarded and there was also no tracker to be found and drove the rest of the way back to the compound.
Back at the compound they decide to have your assessment right away. The other Avengers go into the meeting room and talk among themselves while you are nervously waiting in the hall outside of the room. Cap opens the door and asks you to come in. He keeps standing with you at the front of the room. “Alright, y/n, we have discussed all of your shadow missions together and have decided that you would be a great addition to the team.” You smile grows wide. You were going to be an Avenger!
“You showed excellent decision-making skills, survival instinct and you are a great observer. We’re all very happy to have you join us.” Cap finishes and everyone claps their hands. One by one they come over to congratulate you. Natasha gives you a hug to congratulate you. Wanda notices the interaction and smiles, she’s been hearing your and Natasha’s very loud thoughts about each other from day one and was happy that something must have happened on your mission together to got in out in the open.
You spend the rest of the day relaxing with Natasha in her room. It turned out that underneath that stone cold expression was just a girl trying not to get hurt again.

Could you do a jjxreader friends turn lover fic? Be as angsty as you want as I know that’s the only way you write jj😉
Turbulence
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Pairing: JJ x fem!Reader
Words: 4.8k+
Summary: New to the BAU, you maybe lied a little bit about your ability to handle flying. You knew it was part of the job and you just figured you could face your fears and hide your anxiety. The thing is... that doesn't work that well when your closest friend and coworker is a profiler now and can read you so easily. Did your first flight to a case shift something between you and JJ or was there something there this whole time?
Genre: Fluff. So much fluff. This is the fluffiest thing I've ever created.
Warnings: None really? Mentions of fears of flying and mild anxiety but that is it.
A/N: Holy shit I wrote JJ fluff. Here ya go, anon! I am a little worried that you actually wanted angst but... for once I did not deliver that. However, I'm sure I will be producing way more JJ angst in the future.

“I can’t believe you’re afraid of flying,” JJ chuckled.
You didn’t answer, instead just grimaced at her. Your nails were currently digging into the arm rest to the left of you, while JJ plopped down next to you on your right.
“I didn’t know you were such a chicken,” she poked at your side, a smug grin across her face. “You knew there would be flying involved when you took this job, right?”
“Yes!” You hissed at her before squeezing your eyes shut. “I can handle it.”
“And this…” she gestured to your knuckles currently turning white from their grip on the armrest “is you handling it?”
“It’s me facing my fears,” you replied through gritted teeth. You attempted to relax your grip on the seat, but failed miserably the moment the plane started to make noise.
“Right,” she smirked. “Well, we’re taking off soon, so you better hold tight.”
You absolutely did not appreciate the wink she threw your way. No matter how much it made your heart flutter. Not when you are currently trying to face your greatest fear head on.
This job was way too good to pass up. Yes, you definitely knew there would be travel involved. That didn’t stop you from accepting. Plus, how could you say no when JJ herself approached you and asked if you would take it? With her moving on to be a profiler for the BAU, the team needed a new communications liaison and since you and JJ had worked together quite a few times before, she had thought you’d be a great addition. You were flattered and gladly took up her offer at the time, but at this very moment you were regretting it just a tiny bit.
You took slow, deep breaths, as the sounds of the plane starting up began to shake through your body. Why was it so loud? Was it always this loud? Was that normal?
“Hey,” JJ said in a hushed tone, “it’s okay. It’ll feel better when we’re in the air.”
You expected to see a hint of more teasing in her eyes, but when you looked back at her, you saw none. She was just looking at you now with genuine concern. You swallowed and paused for a second. This was nothing, just a silly little plane trip, you could do it easily. Plus, it helped that she was sitting next to you. You simply nodded as a reply, but hearing her say that was helping calm your nerves.
Takeoff wasn’t even that bad, you made it through after JJ’s words of reassurance. You could feel your stress melt away when the plane was completely ascended. It was actually smooth, you’d almost say calming.
JJ remained seated with you the entire time. You didn’t miss the few moments where she’d look over at you. Probably trying to check on if you were losing the battle against your fears or not. But you were doing great, you were even able to lean your head back on the headrest and start to drift off.
When JJ saw that you seemed to be doing pretty well to your time in the air, she began to stand up. She couldn’t ever go a whole plane trip without a snack. However, before she could even fully stand, the plane hit some turbulence. It was mild, nothing that a normal person would be concerned about, but your eyes snapped open immediately. Without hesitation, without even thinking, your hand darted out to grab hers and she immediately sat back fully into her seat.
But then as quickly as it happened, the rocky moment in the plane ended.
“I’m sorry,” you looked at your hand, holding hers in what you imagined was a painful grip. You began to let go, but then another bout of turbulence hit and all you could do was squeeze tighter.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” JJ gave you a sympathetic smile. “I’ll stay right here.”
The plane still shook, but you knew you couldn’t just hold onto your friend’s hand. You felt childish and embarrassed. As you attempted to loosen your grip, an act that was by no means easy for you as you swore you could feel your bones vibrate with the cabin of the plane, she stopped you. Her hand squeezed yours and you couldn’t pull away.
“It’s okay,” JJ’s tone wasn’t harsh, but still firm and reassuring. You looked up to meet her eyes and saw nothing but sincerity. Relaxing as best you could, you let her hold your hand in hers as you endured the rest of the flight.
She didn’t move the whole time after that. Your hand relaxed but every so often you would feel her thumb rub against your palm, soothing you whenever she felt you tense. It was nice, it was grounding, it was… incredibly weird for a friend to do, you thought. Especially, when that friend was also now your coworker.
A couple more hours passed by and the worst part of the flight was long over. It really was unfortunate that your first flight experience with the team was a case that took you from one side of the country all the way to the other. But you were taking this experience like a champ, you even dozed off at one point.
However, if you weren’t already incredibly embarrassed by the whole hand holding thing, being woken up by JJ with your head on her shoulder had you mortified. At some point in your little nap you must’ve readjusted and when she gently shook you awake you realized you were completely on her. Your whole body had slumped onto her side and when you cracked your eyes open, you blinked to adjust your sight, only to realize your face was buried in her neck.
Fuck. You untangled yourself from her the moment your brain caught up on the situation. You were a little too hasty about it.
“I didn’t mean to startle you,” JJ whispered. “We’re just about to land.”
You just nodded. In all honesty, you still felt a little dazed, whether from the nap, or from waking up surrounded by the woman who, you’d be lying if you said you didn’t have a tiny crush on.
She just looked back at you, and for a moment you thought you saw a little bit of disappointment in her eyes. You just chalked it up to feeling disoriented from this whole flight ordiel.
The landing was just as bad as you thought it would be. The moment the wheels began to bounce on the runway, you began to hold your breath.
JJ reached over for you, putting her hand on your knee and giving it a reassuring squeeze. You exhaled. Something about JJ’s touch throughout this whole flight had you feeling like all your fears were dissipating. You appreciated it in the moment, but in the back of your mind it had you a little concerned.
With shaky legs, you began to make your way out of the plane. JJ was right behind you, her hand pressed to the small of your back as you walked. You really were not used to this kind of physical affection and support. It was throwing you off a little bit, but you still didn’t say anything, just decided to reason it as JJ being compassionate to your anxiety. Because, what else could it be? You didn’t want to let yourself read into it. You had known JJ for years, she had always been a little more gentle with you than other people, but you could tell she also really respected you. When you both were working the same type of job, you’d interact often, swap stories and tips, and each moment you spent with her you felt her admiration for your work. Which, to be honest, struck you as odd, considering you felt her skills were leaps and bounds better than your own.
With all of these moments together over the years, it also allowed your friendship to grow. After a few years, you two would get together, not just because work overlapped, but because you enjoyed each other’s company. But unfortunately, as your friendship grew, so did your crush. And when she asked you to take her old position at the BAU so she could become one of their profilers, you noticed a shift in her behavior towards you. Or… at least you think you did. It wasn’t a bad shift either. No, quite the opposite. This plane trip wasn’t the only time she seemed to be extra attentive towards you.
The first couple months starting at the BAU, you’d been lucky enough to be part of cases that were within driving distance. Yet, JJ was still nearby. When cases got more serious and she wasn’t out in the field, she would hover around you. If you were out addressing the press, she would be nearby. If she thought any elements of the case particularly affected you, she would check in. If you both were staying at a hotel, she would walk you to your room at night, sometimes lingering there for awhile. Maybe she was just being overprotective of her friend. Maybe you were just reading way too much into things. Maybe she was just tasked with helping the new girl adjust. Still, you couldn’t help, but think that maybe your crush wasn’t one sided.
This case went on just like any other. Except, JJ felt all the more closer to you after that flight. She seemed to hover more often and even closer. There were more moments of physical touch. Her hand would linger over yours at times when you both were discussing things, her body would brush against yours if she passed you by. It was starting to make you feel just a tiny bit crazy. Like, maybe she had always done this and you were just noticing it now? Was this normal for JJ the whole time? You honestly didn’t think so, but you also didn’t know what to think. It was times like this where you almost wished you were a profiler, so you could have some sort of clue into what she was feeling. You even tried to watch her behavior with others on the team, and you swear you didn’t see her act the same around them. In fact, she acted quite guarded around some of her fellow team members. Team members, you knew for a fact, she had known for years longer than you. This behavior of hers was definitely starting to leave you spinning.
Finally, the case closed and it was time to get back on the plane. As the whole team began to file in, you made your way to the same place you had sat before, ready to try to sleep through this experience. JJ had been following behind you, but was stopped briefly to talk to Emily. Spencer had squeezed past and as you began to sit, you saw him give you a kind smile before making his way to the spot next to you. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t a little disappointed with him sitting next to you. Okay, a lot disappointed. However, you told yourself, part of the reason was that you didn’t want anyone but JJ to see you nervous like you had been on the flight over here.
Right before Spencer could actually sit down in the empty seat next to you, you watched with curiosity as Rossi came up and stopped him. With a smirk, he pulled Reid close by his arm and leaned in to whisper something to him. Spencer just looked from you to over where Emily and JJ stood. His eyebrows up so high you thought they’d get lost in his hair line as he continued to stare back and forth.
“Why don’t you come over here with me?” Rossi tugged on Spencer’s arm. “I want your opinion on some things.”
Without much chance to protest, Spencer allowed himself to be pulled away and you continued to watch him go, utterly confused. That only lasted a moment though, as a second later JJ sunk down on the seat next to you with an exaggerated sigh.
“What was that about?” JJ turned to look over to where Reid was trying, and failing, to act like he wasn’t staring.
“I have no idea,” you shook your head and tried not to dwell on it. All you wanted to focus on was getting through this flight. However, you couldn’t deny the immediate relief you felt when Spencer had moved and JJ had plopped herself down next to you. Throughout the whole case you were really beginning to realize the depth in which your feelings grew for your friend, but you were trying to push those down. Trying and honestly, in this moment, failing miserably. It wasn’t like you could really deny this wasn’t something more than a little crush on your friend, when her presence literally made all your anxieties melt away in an instant. Your heart wasn’t racing out of fear when the plane took off. No, it started racing when she placed her hand over yours as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Of course, she did it because she thought you were scared. You knew you shouldn’t read into it, but that didn’t stop you from basking in the warmth you felt with her hand atop yours. That didn’t stop your heart from fluttering when she squeezed your hand in reassurance with each bump of the plane as it left the runway. That didn’t stop you from thinking you could get used to this feeling, that you wanted more of this feeling with her.
“Doing okay?” JJ leaned over to ask. You turned to look at her and were taken back by just how close she was to you. Leaning back a little, you nodded.
 “Yeah, good, just fine,” you needed to stop talking. She eyed you suspiciously before apparently deciding your awkward answer was good enough and turned her attention to looking at her phone. Her hand slipped away from yours to type and you were kicking yourself for the immediate feeling of disappointment that filled your chest.
“Are you sure?” You hadn’t even noticed that JJ had looked back up from her phone. Your disappointment must’ve been clear on your face.
“I’m sure,” you forced a smile. “Just nerves again. Sorry…” You weren’t a good liar, but hopefully JJ would buy it. A foolish hope, considering you were in a plane full of the country’s best profilers.
“I’m right here,” JJ brought her hand back from her phone to place it on your leg. “Okay?”
Your eyes and mind were zeroed in on her touch again, but you managed to focus enough to nod. A response that JJ seemed to be happy with as she gave your leg a light squeeze that had your heart doing backflips in your chest.
JJ might have been determined to calm the metaphorical storm for you during this flight, but what she managed to do was cause another storm entirely. If you had thought she was extra affectionate towards you on the first trip or even throughout the case, this felt like an extreme. The flight had been a late one, as the team wasn’t done wrapping up until the sun went down, and everyone was pretty exhausted. Yourself included. And honestly, it really seemed like JJ was capitalizing on this fact.
First it started with her seemingly pulling a blanket out of nowhere. Then as she began to wrap it around herself, she stopped and offered (more like insisted) that you both share. Were you cold? Yes, a little bit, but you had planned to refuse. But, let’s be honest, it didn’t take much insistence from her for you to give in and let her wrap the blanket around the both of you. And if that wasn’t enough, when the plane hit turbulence again, she literally pulled you to her. So now, you were almost completely pressed to her side and she acted as if it was nothing that her arm was around you, keeping you there. You weren’t even worried about the turbulence, you barely noticed it, your head was just running in circles trying to decipher JJ’s actions.
A couple more hours had gone by and JJ had dozed off, but each time you tried to scoot away it was like her hold on you would get tighter. You, however, were wide awake. You didn’t want a repeat of your first flight and wake up on her shoulder again. Though, now it seemed like it was her turn to find herself like that. Something told you, she wouldn’t even bat an eye at it. Meanwhile, you had been kicking yourself for literal days, throughout the case, over letting yourself fall asleep on her.
Unsurprisingly, JJ remained asleep for the majority of the flight. After a while of internal panic over her close proximity and head nuzzled into your neck, you began to get used to, and even delight in the feeling of her body against your side. The flight, surprisingly, didn’t even bother you. You felt so at peace with her by your side, sleeping or not, that your anxiety over flying was nonexistent. As the flight stretched on and you thought over everything that was going on between you and the girl currently sleeping on your shoulder, you realized your feelings were far from a silly little crush at this point. She grounded you, she calmed your fears, she took care of you. She occupied so many of your thoughts and when she was around you, you felt like your whole body was buzzing. You were falling for her, and you were falling hard. You didn’t know if she felt the same or if she ever would, and you’d be okay with that as you couldn’t even imagine losing her, but if she wanted more, you knew now that you wouldn’t say no.
When the plane finally landed was when JJ finally woke up and detached herself from you. And just like you thought, she was completely unphased by the way she found herself draped over you. In fact, when you made brief eye contact with her as she began to withdraw from your neck you swore you saw her wink. She might not have been mortified by the state she woke up in, but you were still on edge from all of it. So when you found your opportunity to somewhat naturally disengage from this situation, you took it. You sprang up and rushed off the plane the first chance you got, being the first one off.
The entire team followed behind, but it was as if you were on a mission. You just wanted to put this case behind you. To close the book on it and the weird signals JJ may or may not be giving you. You knew, deep down, you need to talk about it with her, but you were gonna avoid that as long as possible.
Everyone had been wrapping stuff up in the BAU after the long flight and you were ready to head back to the safety and comfort of your own apartment before anyone else was. As you were getting ready to go you held your keys in your hand and then you froze. It hit you like a ton of bricks. You didn’t drive here. You carpooled.
Searching the room for your ride, you swallowed nervously as you saw the culprit, Morgan, currently talking to the woman you were avoiding. Shit. Now what were you gonna do? The only thing you could think to do was watch them from the corner of your eye and the minute they part, make a dash for Morgan and drag him to the exit.
Only, somehow you even failed at that because suddenly the blonde was walking towards you. You hadn’t even noticed they stopped talking, you were too panicked about your “plan”.
“Let me take you home,” JJ offers as she stops in front of you.
“Oh uh…” you weren’t expecting her to ask that. You really wanted to be polite but after the weirdness on the plane, you can only begin to imagine the awkward silence that would fill a car ride with her. “Morgan was supposed to be my ride.” You hoped she would take that answer and then you could go home, but you had a feeling that it wouldn’t be that easy.
“It’s okay, I already told him I have it covered.”
“But I…” think, damn it, think. You searched your brain for any sort of excuse. “I uh don’t think I’m really on your way.”
“Just, please (y/n) let me take you home, okay?” Her voice got quieter at that and her expression changed. She seemed nervous, more vulnerable even and it took you aback. Without much more thought you felt yourself nod and that pleading look she once had immediately transformed into a triumphant grin. “Great, get our stuff and I’ll pull the car around.”
And within a few minutes you found yourself sliding into her passenger seat. The atmosphere in the car was exactly what you expected. Instantly awkward, unbelievably tense. What caught you off guard was that it wasn’t just you who seemed nervous, you could tell this heavy mood was coming from her too.
You kept looking over at her as she drove and you didn’t miss the way her knuckles would tighten for a few moments on the steering. The silence was unbelievably uncomfortable and it took all your willpower to stay quiet when all you wanted to do was ask what was going on. But you were terrified of the answer.
Was this about how weird things got during the case and the flights? Did she figure out you have feelings for her? Were you too obvious? Your mind was racing and her complete silence wasn’t helping.
“So…” you jumped when she finally spoke, her eyes glued to the road. “The team is starting to notice.”
“Notice?” You practically squeaked. “Notice what?” Your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest. There’s a pause for a minute. You can tell JJ is thinking carefully about what she wants to say, but every passing minute makes your anxiety skyrocket that much more.
“Us.” She says it as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. However, you were so focused on JJ’s mood and this new development that you didn’t realize you made it to your apartment complex until she stopped the car and turned to face you.
“Us?” You felt like the air was knocked out of you. Here you go, you knew this was coming. You were too obvious and now your worst nightmares were coming true. “What do you mean by that?”
“You know what I mean,” she didn’t sound angry, so that was a good sign. She didn’t sound exactly positive either. You really couldn’t figure her out right now. JJ turned the car off and you watched in confusion as she exited the car, only to walk to the passenger side and look at you expectantly through the window.
It took you a moment to get your body to move, the emotional whiplash of this whole endeavor with her had you reeling. When you finally stepped out of the car, you just stood there and stared as she swiped your apartment keys from your hands. And when she started walking to your door, unlocking it, and waltzing into your own apartment you followed her in a daze.
Both of you just stood there in your apartment. Each of you were waiting for something, but JJ seemed almost impatient about it. Her arms were crossed, her expression seemed determined.
“Maybe we should…” you paused. Should what? Hash this out? Take some space? You didn’t know what you wanted to say right now, but you were getting incredibly anxious. “Talk?” You finally offered. This was the opposite of what you wanted. You just wanted to wind down after this case, but JJ didn’t look like she was going anywhere anytime soon.
“I’ve been waiting on you,” she frowned.
What? What does that even mean? Your mind was spinning. You had to just get this over with. Say your piece, admit your feelings, apologize for your clear lack of ability to hide it, and move on.
“Listen, JJ, I’m sorry,” you started, trying to keep your voice level. “I didn’t think it was that obvious, it’s just a little crush, okay? It can pass. It will pa-“
In a split second her lips were on yours. Effectively shutting up the sad rant you had found yourself stuck in. You were grateful to be shut up, but you were also incredibly stunned.
The sheer force of the kiss had you stumble back a step or two, but her arm shot out and around your waist to steady you, while her other cupped your chin. It took you only a moment to register what was happening, but when you realized she was kissing you, JJ was kissing you, you eagerly kissed back.
Confused as hell as you were, for the moment you didn’t care. It felt like heaven, her lips moving against yours, her hold on your chin tightening as she deepened the kiss. You didn’t realize how much you wanted this until it was actually happening and you couldn’t get enough.
But there was still a voice in the back of your mind, one that wanted to demand what was happening. One that was afraid this meant something else to her. One that didn’t want to lose your friend or get hurt.
You pulled back. Regret immediately followed when you saw the look on JJ’s face. Was it disappointment? Hurt? You couldn’t tell, but all you wanted to do was to either keep kissing her until the sun came up or pretend this night never happened. Although, how could you, when now you knew just how great her lips felt?
“What the heck is going on?” Your inner turmoil over recent events was starting to become not so… inner.
“I thought it was obvious?” JJ just blinked back at you. As if she expected you to be completely caught up. It was starting to feel like everyone was in on a secret but you. “We were kissing. It was nice. I’d like to get back to that.” She offers you a cheeky grin and for a second you almost take her up on that. But no, no. You need to figure this out.  You’re coworkers, you’re friends. This, whatever this is, was going to get messy. “I can practically hear your brain spiraling, (Y/N).”
Of course she could. All you could do was stare back at her in shock. You needed to say something soon. Something coherent.
“I just uh…” smooth. You pause and take a deep breath. “Okay, look JJ, I know there’s something going on. What with the…” you motion between you two as you speak. “...kissing and everything else. But I’m not just someone who hooks up with coworkers, let alone friends.”
“Damn,” JJ chuckles. “Emily warned me that you seemed pretty oblivious. Listen, (Y/N), I don’t just ‘hook up’ with friends either.” JJ used air quotes as she spoke. “I have feelings for you. I thought I made that pretty clear.”
“Did everyone know, but me?”
“Pretty much, yeah.” JJ’s grin grew.
“So… we have feelings for each other?”
“Yep.”
“And why didn’t you tell me until now?”
“I thought you’d break first,” JJ shrugged. “But I was getting impatient.”
You just gaped at her, still in utter disbelief. JJ’s grin was growing as she watched you.
“Where does that leave us now?” You still couldn’t wrap your head around this whole situation, but you’d be lying if you said your body didn’t feel like it was absolutely buzzing right now. Whether it was from the kiss or from the realization that you weren’t imagining things, you weren’t sure. But honestly, with what JJ was saying and the way she was stepping towards you right now, you didn’t really mind.
JJ was in your personal space again, leaning in until her lips were just barely ghosting yours. “Back to kissing?” She whispered against your lips. Your eyes fluttered closed and you nodded before feeling the intoxicating press of her lips upon yours once more.
There was a lot to figure out between you two, but as she pulled you closer and you began to melt into the kiss, you didn’t feel as worried anymore. You two felt the same, that was clear to now and that’s all that mattered.
A/N: Holy shit, I actually kept JJ happy the whole time. Well, now it's time to go back and write more JJ angst for Hell or High Water ;)

“Can I ask you for something? I promise I’ll sign these papers after. I promise, you’ll be free. For good.”
Wanda sighed, her expression solemn but still, motioned you to go on.
“Can you pretend that you still love me? Even just for 7 days.”
“Y/n, I don’t think that’s a good— “
“Please? Just this once. I, I promise, it’ll be the last time I ask one thing from you.”
She swallowed the lump that formed in her throat. She thinks it’s a bad idea. You’re supposed to move forward without each other now. It was what you agreed upon before calling it quits.
But seeing the silent pleading emanating from your eyes, she finds herself agreeing to your request.
“The last time?”
“The last time.”
Day 1
“Good morning, draga.” It’s been awhile since you’ve heard her call you that. You’ve missed it. You can also hardly recall the last time she held you in the mornings like this, as she had already moved from your shared house since the split.
Instead of responding, you hugged her even more tightly while burying your face farther into her chest. You couldn't help but sigh in contentment as you felt her kiss the top of your head. You basked in the affection she was currently showing you, despite the fact that you knew it was all phony.
“We should get up and make breakfast, baby. We have plans to do that which you planned, dorogoya. " You can hear her chuckle softly when you just whine and entwine your legs around her torso.
“Five more minutes, please?”
“Okay.”
~~
“You were supposed to add a pinch of salt, baby.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot.” Wanda could only look at you softly, playing the role of an understanding partner, you think.
“That’s okay, let’s start over?”
Your brows furrowed in frustration. You don’t want to start over. It’s just a simple task and you ruined it. Just like how you ruined both of you.
“Detka, what’s wrong?” When you felt your wife's comforting hand resting on your arm, you snapped out of it and looked at her. You merely grinned at her and assured her that nothing was wrong. As you two continued to prepare the food together, it seemed like the first morning you had spent as wives.
~~
Together, you took a shower and dressed each other. It appeared as though everything was back to normal. Like before, when Wanda and you are both happily married. Even if it was play pretend, you remind yourself.
You went to your favorite places before, reminiscing about the old times as you walked. Smiles and laughter were exchanged. Even if it was play pretend.
At the end of the day, you held onto each other. You slept with a smile on your face while having a conflicting one on Wanda’s.
Day 2
“Should I get this? How do I look?” You put the silly headband on your head, opting to get a smile from her. And when you successfully did, your heart soared at the sound of your wife’s laughter.
“Ohh, definitely. You look like a princess, detka.”
“Then you shall be my other princess.” You tried to put the same headband on her head, but she just playfully shook her head at you.
“Uh-uh, I’ll be your knight in shining armor. I’ll have this sword instead.” She held up a sword keychain, but when you left the store, both of your heads were adorned with headbands and each of your purses had sword keychains on them.
Day 3
“I love you.” You felt Wanda stiffen beside you. Her soft, sharp intake of breath was drowned out by the movie you were watching.
“I-I love you, too.” That was enough for you. Even if it was only play pretend.
Day 4
“Detka, what are you looking for?”
“My fuzzy slippers, Wanda. I swear I put those over there at the shoe rack.” You were still crouched down, peeking under the couch.
“The ones with the bunny ears?” Her voice is laced with confusion.
“Yes, they’re the ones.”
"You asked me to throw them away the other day, detka. It was so worn out that it had a tear. "
“Oh. I must have forgotten.” You chuckle nervously, but it made Wanda worried. You seem to forget a lot these few days.
“Is everything okay?” She must have missed something. Before the split happened, fights between you had increasingly happened when you forgot a lot of things you were supposed to do. Wanda had enough of your excuses as it happened regularly, so inevitably, you broke up.
“Of course, everything is fine.”
Day 5
Everything was not fine.
One of the reasons she justified breaking up with you is that you lie so easily to her.
Years of marriage gave her the ability to see right through them. But still, you insist on your lies, even if they are very blatant.
“We should go and see a doctor. There’s something wrong— “
“Is it two teaspoons of cornstarch—or baking soda? Which is it? What’s the difference?” You try to evade her.
“Are you listening to me?” She is trying to keep her voice from rising, but you are making it difficult for her. You brought to her attention the reasons why it was difficult to continue loving and living with you.
She grasped your shoulders, forcing you to look at her, and all you could do was look at her pleadingly.
“Two days, Wanda. I promise I won’t be your problem anymore.” She wants to protest. You always do this. Pushing her away until she’s on the edge.
You closed the distance between you to distract her from thinking too much. This is supposed to be play pretend, you remind her wordlessly.
“Okay.”
Day 6
“I want that red panda plushie. Reminds me of you.” You sneakily reach for her fries and she lets you. Amusement is clear in her eyes looking at you.
“Why? Because of my hair?”
“... Yeah. And also for the fact that you get startled like them.” You raised your hands upwards, teasing your wife.
“Hey! I do not look like that.”
“You do!” The banter between you flows easily, momentarily forgetting what tomorrow was.
It has been the best days of your life. Even if it was only play pretend.
Day 7
But for Wanda, it was hellish. She’s supposed to move on, but how can she when you make it impossible not to love you? Honestly, she never stopped loving you, even when you made it difficult for her.
She’s waiting for you to tell her to stop all of this pretending and be real for good. She’s waiting for you to let her in once again. She’s waiting for you to stop pushing her away. She’s waiting for you to fight for both of you this time. Stop telling lies and begin again.
She tears one last orgasm from you before collapsing on top of you. She couldn’t stop the tears flowing out, wailing at the idea of losing you once this day ends.
“I don’t want us to end…”
Divorce was never her idea. It was yours.
“I’m sorry.”
Your throat is scratchy as you cried with her.
“You’re cruel.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“I don’t have to pretend, you know. I have always loved you. I think—no, I know I’ll never stop loving you at all. I don’t want to let you go.”
“...You have to. Eventually.” She angrily pries herself off from you.
“Why? Why won’t you just tell me what’s happening?” Even when she’s crying, she still looks breathtaking.
You gently took her hand and kissed it softly.
“I’m sorry.” That was all you could say, and the more you said it, the angrier she became.
She wants to run away from this feeling. She wants to run away from you. But at the same time, she doesn’t want to.
“I love you, Wanda.” It hurts when you say that because she knows it’ll be the last time she’s going to hear it from you. But instead of saying it back, she pours everything she feels into the last kiss that both of you are going to share.
~~
She blindly reached for you, and when her hands met an empty side, she sat up quickly and panic settled in. You’re gone.
The papers were finalized, and a lone single note sat on top of them.
‘Free yourself from me.’
~~//~~
12 years later…
“Mom! Tommy called me doofus!”
“I didn’t mean it!” Hurried footsteps can be heard as the twins start chasing each other.
“Boys! No running or you’ll hurt yourself.” Wanda gently reprimands. Two small bodies collided each side of her body as she settled down the cookie batter on the counter.
“Sorry, mom. Are you done? Can I eat it?” Tommy, the ever energetic child slyly asks.
“I have to bake it first, honey. You’ll get sick if you eat those raw.”
“Can we help, mom?” Billy cutely asks beside, which her brother excitedly follows up.
“Pretty please?” She kisses the top of their head, giving in at their pleas.
“Okay, but first you gotta wash those tiny hands.”
“They’re not tiny, mom!” She just ruffles their hair before ushering them to wash their hands.
After some time of giggles and quite a mess, they finished making the cookies and now just have to wait for them to be done.
Wanda is in the middle of cleaning up when the doorbell rings. She orders the twins to clean themselves first before coming to get the door.
“Hi! How can I help you?” A teenage girl greets her at the door.
“Hello! I’m America Chavez, I was wondering if there is a Wanda Maximoff here? I think I have something that belongs to her.” The girl, America, is carrying a large box that is strangely familiar to her.
“That’s me. Uhm, would you like to come in first?”
“Oh, I don’t want to impose. I just came by here to drop these off. We found these in the attic of the house we bought, well, from you. I’m sorry but I have to go, moms and I were going to the arcade.” She thanked the Chavez girl before taking the box from her and bidding her goodbye.
Once she has settled in, she softly gasps as she opens it and is met with tapes and letters. It’s yours. The letters were all addressed to her, but it was never sent. The dust indicates that these must have been forgotten. Why hadn’t she noticed these before?
She chuckles bitterly as she remembers that even when you left her all these years ago, you still managed to hide things from her. She's curious to see what those tapes and letters have in store for her, but she decided against it. It can wait. But for now, she has to manage the twins that collectively decide to call her name.
~~
When the twins retired for the night, she tucked them in before getting the box and a bottle of wine before settling herself down in the living room. Something tells her that she’s in for a long night.
~~
‘Hi! I’m Y/n Maximoff-L/n, I’m 25 years old and I’m the luckiest gal in the universe. Wanna know why? Because I’m married to the most amazing and kindest soul to ever exist in this realm. Can you believe it? She put a ring on me! Wanda Maximoff-L/n… God, I will never get tired of hearing that name…”
Every tape, it’s the same introduction. Each was a summary of their lives together. The first time they met, the first date, the first night as wives, the first time they fought, the first time they broke up, the first night without each other, until the very last night of them together. And it always ends with the same reminder aimed at yourself, to always remember her, your wife.
As she looked through the envelopes, the dates were always the same. Her birthday. Starting from the first year you were together, until it dated 60 years later.
She can't stop the sob from escaping her as her heart begins to tighten. The letters were gifts from you when you’re no longer around to give them. When you no longer remember everything.
‘... I never really truly deserve my wife, you know? God, if she finds out, she’ll drop everything just to be there for me. I don’t want that. I-I don’t want her to give up her dreams just to take care of someone like me. Someone who will likely forget her as time goes by. It hurts when I can’t remember myself, but imagine how much more it will hurt if she’s always there to witness her partner not remember her. I, she deserves someone who will always remember to love her, capable of taking care of her. Someone that does not have this kind of sickness. Someone that is not me.
This will be the last you’re gonna hurt her, Y/n. It hurts to let go but you’ll forget about it eventually. Don’t be selfish and give her the chance to live the life she deserves to have. This will be the last time you’ll have to remember everything. It’s time for you to let go.’
She’s angry. She’s hurt. You should’ve told her. You shouldn’t have let go. You shouldn’t have given up for the both of you.
She hates it when you make decisions for the two of you. What about her? But most importantly, she hates it when you are right.
She hates that she still loves you after all these years.
She hates that she couldn’t forget about you but you can.
And lastly, she hates it when she can’t let go of you for the last time.

Eavesdropping
Natasha Romanoff x reader 😏
Summary: Natasha overhears the team teasing you about a crush. She’s heartbroken.
Warnings: Mention of injury, guns, a bit of a make out sesh. Reader is assumed to have male crush. This writing = not my finest prose.
Note: bit of angst, fluff. 3K
Tony’s laugh is loud, it bellows over the top of everyone else's voice. It’s only quieter than his own voice which rings out clearly down the hall. Natasha is half-asleep making her way to Fury with some reports when your name catches her ear.
“Ooooh you don’t just have a crush, Y/L/N’s fully in love!” He roars out.
Love? Natasha pauses in the hallway out of sight. Her heart is suddenly pumping fast and the pulsing blood booms in her ears as she tries to listen.
“I’m sure he’ll come around Y/N.” Wanda says kindly.
He? At that, Natasha’s heart stops completely. She can’t hear it beating in her ears anymore. Instead a ringing sound has taken over and she feels sick, dizzy.
“I don’t know Wanda, I’ve already dropped so many hints. Maybe I finally need to pick up my hint, that he’s just not interested.”
Natasha walks back to her office on shaky legs and pretends that there aren’t tears in her eyes. Her blurry vision obscures the guest chair in her office and she walks right into it. Her documents fall to the ground as she catches herself from tumbling over it.
“Ow, shit!” She huffs and clutches her knee.
Clint pokes his head in the doorway. “You okay, Nat?”
She glares at him. “Fine.” She grumbles.
“New mission just got posted. You, me, Y/N and Tony.” He says. “Should be a fun one.” He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.
Natasha bends down to pick up her papers and Clint is surprised by her lack of response. Usually Natasha would be thrilled to get a mission with you, plus a small group means you’ll probably be paired together. Right now, she feels painfully empty about it because clearly it has meant more to her than it does to you.
Over the next few days Natasha goes out of her way to avoid you, unable to face you while carrying her broken heart. She cancels your weekly movie night over text.
N: Can’t make the movie tonight. Busy.
N: Sorry
y/n: I’ll kill Fury if he’s overworking you again!!
y/n: That’s ok though. Are you ok?
y/n: Can I help?
The three messages come through within seconds of each other and each one makes the lump in her throat grow. Natasha spends 10 minutes staring at your response but she doesn’t reply. It’s annoying, she thinks, the way you throw her completely off track, spiralling like a crazy person. She decides that she won’t let you do it anymore.
Determined and head held high, she heads to the kitchen to make a sandwich before her scheduled training session.
She gets halfway through buttering the first slice of bread before hearing you making your way down the hallway. The sound of your voice makes her melt and she considers dropping this whole facade, but then Bucky’s gravely laugh sounds out alongside yours.
Fuck. She can’t see this, her heart can’t take it. She drops her knife and it clatters on the bench top. She flinches when the clanging sound rings out loudly through the room, and she abandons her unmade sandwich. She narrowly escapes and you almost catch her exit but all that’s left of her is sandwich ingredients spread over the bench.
Natasha walks to the gym and regrets not taking at least the bread with her. It's a longer session tonight, some of the recruits have an upcoming graduation examination for SHIELD. Natasha straightens her back as she walks in and acts like nothing is out of the ordinary. And if she’s hungry, snapping at the recruits and hypercritical of their techniques, well that’s a matter between her and her own heart.
~~~
From her window, Natasha catches you and Bucky heading out arm in arm. It’s friday night and she did cancel on you, but her insides burn and she hates how quickly she's been replaced. Maybe she had hoped you would come up looking for her. She starts to imagine Bucky and her fist headed straight for his face. She could be better to you than him! Then the image shifts, Bucky is fine and then you appear and he starts to touch you, kiss you and you let him, you like it.
The burning starts to reach her heart and despite being freshly showered she charges back to the gym.
Strike after strike, she hits the heavy bag gloveless. The super serum running through her veins helps to send the bag swinging, the chain holding it to the ceiling screams to be let free. She hits and hits and hits until her knuckles start to bleed. It feels good for a moment, then through her panting breaths she starts to crack. With each exhale, her chest heaves and heartbroken sobs escape from her throat. She sinks to her knees and cries on the floor until all her throat is hoarse and the tears are gone.
She washes her face in the gym bathroom and creeps back into her room, not wishing to be caught in such a state. Part of her wishes that you would find her and drag her into your room to sleep for the night.
When she climbs into bed she’s exhausted but her mind won’t let her rest. She feels more alone than ever. She had got in the habit of imagining your voice whispering to her 'good night'. Tonight it's silent and she can no longer convince herself that you'll be there one day to say it to her for real. The tears she thought were gone are back again and she cries herself to sleep into a soaking wet pillow.
~~~
Little did she know, on the other side of the door, you stood wondering if you would be welcome inside. Wishing she would turn to you instead of herself alone when she’s struggling.
You continue to check her room everyday and keep an eye out in the compound, but don’t see Natasha until your mission. When you walk in she doesn't acknowledge you at all, next to her, Clint gives you a pointed look while the meeting gets started.
Agent Hill is leading the mission briefing and the whole time your eyes skip across to table to Natasha then to Hill and back to Natasha then to Clint to Natasha to Hill to Natasha. Around in circles waiting for Natasha to look back at you.
Natasha's eyes stay fixed on the papers in front of her and occasionally drift up to listen to Hill. She looks small in her seat, shoulders hunched and her hair falls to cover her face. For a brief moment as she turns to look at Hill, she gets caught in your gaze. You start to smile at her, the question are you okay? blazing in your eyes, but she quickly looks back down at her papers, timid like a frightened animal and a light blush covering her cheeks. You don’t get to ask it.
On the quinjet you sit next to her in your usual seat and Natasha’s heart skips a beat. Still, she refuses to look at you, her head stays facing the cockpit so you can’t see her face. Your leg knocks into hers with the turbulence and every time she tries to ignore her desire to turn around and press herself back into you. The thought of you in love with someone else keeps her spine icy and reminds her to keep her distance.
When the two of you head off as a pair, armed and on the lookout for enemy combatants, your eyes don’t leave her and you hope she can feel your gaze burning into her. If there was any doubt in your mind she was avoiding you, it's completely gone given the way she’s acting today. You want to annoy her enough that she finally tells you what you’ve done wrong.
Almost tripping, twice, should have been a sign to actually watch where you were going. But you keep your eyes stuck stubbornly on Natasha’s back as she leads you into the camp.
You approach a high chain fence with barbed wire at the top, Natasha drops her gun and kneels down to pry apart an opening. “Would you pay attention?” She snarls, glaring up at you before she focuses back on the gate. It’s not exactly ‘mission accomplished’, but it's a start. Since she’s broken the silence between you, you try to ask her a question.
“Why have you been avoiding me?” You whisper while taking a look around to satisfy your job as the lookout.
“I haven’t -”
Three goons approach from the darkness in a vehicle, shooting out the window.
You raise your gun to face them and don't move an inch from your stance in front of Natasha.
Natasha yells your name, before you can take a shot she shoves you in the back and sends you sprawling on the ground. Natasha shoots the driver straight through the head, which sends the vehicle straight into a nearby tree.
When you turn around Natasha is leaning against the fence, pale faced and in pain.
You scramble from the ground and rush towards her.
“Natasha!” You can see her clutching her arm and blood is dripping through her hand and onto the dirt at her feet. You reach out to help her put pressure on it.
“Don’t touch me!”
You freeze in front of her, inches from her arm you slowly start to back yourself away. Shocked by her rejection, you try to focus on helping her another way. You call the team and hold back your tears as you talk to Tony over the comms.
She continues to refuse any help, even as you beg through tears all the way back to the base. The others watch on anxiously, giving you a sympathetic look.
~~~
Natasha spends 50 minutes getting stitched up before Cho’s new machine lets her go looking brand new. You spend that time showering, feeling guilty and getting increasingly more angry. Angry at yourself, angry at Natasha.
When you hear familiar footsteps walk past your room, you storm out to follow them through Natasha’s door.
“What the hell, Natasha!” You speak with more fire than you knew yourself to have. “What did I do to you? Hm?”
“You got me shot, we could start there.” She says evenly, emotionless.
“No, I was standing there, in front of you. You pushed me!”
“Of course I pushed you!” She screams at you. Then quieter, she sighs, “Of course, I pushed you.”
You’re speechless for a moment.
“You know that I would rather get shot than let you take a bullet.” You protest tensely.
She shrugs.
You groan loudly, frustrated. “You know I would rather take a bullet in my head than let you take one through your toe! So why are you so angry with me?”
Natasha keeps her gaze locked on the ground between her feet.
You sigh in defeat. “It’s my fault you got shot.” You say, your heart makes its way to your throat and chokes you. “I just wanted you to stop ignoring me.”
You wait a moment, then two. But Natasha doesn’t move.
“I’m so sorry, Tash. So sorry” You say earnestly, then turn to leave.
As you reach her door she speaks up, her voice is thick and it crackles in an accusatory tone. “You didn’t tell me that you liked anyone!”
She finally makes eye contact with you and you can see tears mixing with the fire in her eyes. “I thought we were friends, but it turns out that Tony gets to hear about your life more than I do.”
“I tell you things I’ve never told anyone. Not even Clint.” She sniffles and her cheeks are glistening wet. She whips at her nose with the back of her hand, “You don’t even care.” She mutters miserably.
You pause and try to let her words register.
“I - what?” You say, confused,
Natasha straightens up. “So? Who is it then? Bucky? And you’re together now?” She insists impatiently.
Each question she shoots off just confuses you more but her red teary eyes start to hint at her problem. It gives you a small burst of confidence that you may not ruin your friendship with a confession, as you had feared.
“Bucky's a friend and it’s not a guy, Natasha.” you say. “I thought that was obvious.”
Hope grips Natasha’s heart in a strangling hold.
She clears her throat, “Oh.”
“I thought the best spy in the world would have figured it out.” You say, a weak smile barely creeping through. You pause for a moment and feel your heart beating so hard your ribs shake with its beat.
Through an aching breath, you tell her simply, “It's you.”
You watch the realisation grow on Natasha’s face until it reaches her eyes and she takes a moment to look at you.
"Me?" She whispers.
For a moment you shrink under her intense gaze, terrified you’ve lost her. But then Natasha rushes towards you and sends you stumbling backwards as she crashes into you. Instinctively you wrap your arms around her and hold her close.
Pieces of Natasha's heart slowly slot back into place and she takes in a deep breath of your scent. The coconut shampoo she hates and the wonderful smell of your skin, god she's missed it.
Her hands grip tightly at your hips and she leans in desperately towards your lips. You take a moment to look into her eyes, red and puffy, they're so full of love you want to cry. Then gorgeous red lips capture your attention. You can’t resist any longer and you press your lips softly into hers.
Her lips are full and soft, heavenly. She runs her tongue over your bottom lip and then she’s slipping in to taste your mouth. She whimpers into your mouth, and you soothe her by tenderly stroking her cheek.
Her kisses become harsher and her force pushes you backwards towards her bed where she presses you down into the mattress.
Red hair falls to frame her face as leans down to kiss you and strong legs climb up to frame your hips. There’s electrifying tension in the space she leaves between you.
You feel dizzy with the suffocating need to have her skin, smooth and safe against you. Natasha laughs lightly as you roll her onto her back. Your hips remain locked between her legs and she reaches around to the small of your back to encourage you to press down into her harder. Your pelvis rocks down into her instinctively and steals your breath away.
You reach for her hands to press them above her head, dragging your lips over her jaw and down to kiss her neck. The brief shift makes you remember why you’re there.
“Wait Natasha, your arm!” You sit up and try to inspect her upper arm where you saw blood before. Nothing is there.
“It’s all fixed.” Natasha rasps out. She lies back down and tries to pull you down by the front of your shirt. “It’s ok.” She whispers.
“It’s not ok! You got hurt - because of me.” you exclaim. You refuse to move down to meet her, so she sits up to face you. “You could have been killed.” you can barely whisper it.
“I wasn’t. I’m fine, Y/N.” she caresses your face gently and you lean into her touch. She moves lower to run her thumb over your swollen lips. You press your forehead to hers. “I always dreamed that I would die protecting you.” She whispers quietly, like a secret.
Your heart soars painfully. “Please, promise me you won’t ever do that.” You reply. You remove her hand from your face and press it into your chest above your heart. “That would kill me.”
You wrap your fingers around her wrist and bring her hand up to your lips. You press a heated kiss to the centre of her palm. Slowly, you make your way over her wrist, pressing delicate kisses to the skin of her inner arm. You can feel her shiver as you kiss the sensitive skin in the crease of her elbow. Then, you move up to the side of her arm where she got shot and gently press your lips to the new skin, pausing there for a moment.
Her words continue to resonate through you and you know you’d do the same for her in a heartbeat. It rings disaster in your ears. Tear after tear falls down your cheeks and wets her skin under your mouth.
Natasha gently pulls you up into her arms. You let her manoeuvre the both of you towards the pillows and under her sheets. You lie down to face her and open your arms to gesture for her to cuddle closer. She wraps an arm securely around your waist and nuzzles her face into the crook of your neck.
Natasha thinks about the last three nights she spent crying herself to sleep and sinks deeper into the warmth of your arms
"Good night." She whispers, soft and shy, her lips muffled against your skin.
"Good night, Tasha." You whisper back to her sweetly. The brightest inferno glows under her skin and she almost giggles.
The soft smile beaming on her face lingers even after her eyes close and she's fast asleep.
You whisper another quiet apology, your lips brushing against her hairline and you press a kiss to her forehead. You sleep restlessly, your mind running the same line in a loop, die protecting you, die protecting you, die, die die…
Boyfriend
Valkyrie x fem!reader
Warnings: none
Summary: As the queen of one of the nine realms, you came to New Asgard to make peace, meeting the charming - and flirtatious - ruler.
a/n: been wanting to do something with Valkyrie, so hopefully this will cure my writer's block, also, this is based on the song "boyfriend" by Dove Cameron
Tumblr media
"Welcome to New Asgard, princess Y/N," one of the guards said,
"Thank you," Y/N said with a smile, "It's actually Queen Y/N now, my father passed away a couple days ago,"
"Oh right, my apologies, I'm very sorry for your loss, your majesty," the guard said,
"It's quite alright," Y/N said with a fake sad smile,
In actuality, Y/N didn't care about the cruel king, she would've killed himself if he wasn't always surrounded with guards.
The fall of a man who killed his wife and beat his daughter meant the rise of a queen who cared about her kingdom.
"Yeah, it's been like two days, get over it," Y/N's fiancé - Jason - said,
The guard and Y/N looked at him in shock.
Jason was betrothed to Y/N before her father had passed, but Y/N hated him, he was arrogant, narcissist, misogynist and was only in it for the power.
"Well, King Valkyrie is in the dining room, she will be expecting you,” the guard said,
“Of course, let’s not keep her waiting then,” Y/N said with a wink,
The couple walked into the building, accompanied by guards.
“Greetings Queen Y/N and Prince Jason,” Valkyrie said,
“Please, call me Y/N,” Y/N said,
“Only if you call me Valkyrie,” Valkyrie said,
“I find it so wonderful that you used to be a Valkyrie, my mother always told me stories about them, I wanted to be just like them when I was younger,” Y/N said,
Jason cleared his throat rudely.
“Welcome Prince Jason,” Valkyrie said, she reached out her hand to shake his,
Jason’s face scrunched up in disgust.
“Yeah, I don’t touch other people’s hands,” Jason said, head held up high,
Valkyrie looked shocked but put her hand down regardless.
“How about we eat?” Y/N rushed out, trying to change the subject,
Valkyrie smiled at her and nodded,
“Of course,” Valkyrie said, guiding them over to the dining table,
“This food is lovely,” Y/N said, she elegantly wiping her face,
However, Jason was on the side, chewing loudly.
“Thank you, though I can’t take the credit, our chefs here are amazing,” Valkyrie said,
Y/N went to reach for a piece of bread, but Jason stopped her.
“You sure about that?” Jason asked,
“Why not?” Y/N asked,
“You should really watch your weight,” Jason said,
“But I haven’t eaten much today, just this salad,” Y/N whispered to him,
“That’s already one salad too many,” he said,
Y/N laughed nervously and lowered her hand.
“By the way, we have a ball later,” Valkyrie said, trying to break the awkward silence,
Y/N smiled at her gratefully.
“We’ll be there,” Y/N said,
Tumblr media
Y/N twirled in front of the mirror.
She was wearing a dark green dress with a slit at the side.
Y/N heard a knock at the door.
“Come in,” she said,
Valkyrie opened the door and entered the room, she was wearing a black suit.
“Are you almost ready?” Valkyrie asked,
Y/N nodded.
“Be careful out there, most of these men haven’t seen a pretty thing in a while,” Valkyrie said with a smirk,
“I doubt it,” Y/N said, “You live here, no?
Valkyrie’s smirk widened.
“Shall we?” Valkyrie asked, putting her arm out
Y/N nodded, hooking her arm into hers.
“Though I do need to find Jason,” Y/N said,
“Oh, right,” Valkyrie’s face fell slightly, biting back an eye roll.
“I’ll see you,” Y/N said, running off.
Tumblr media
Valkyrie leaned against the wall, bringing her glass to her lips.
“Hey beautiful,” a man said,
Valkyrie rolled her eyes.
“What’s up? Lighten up a little bit,” a man said,
“Piss off,” Valkyrie snapped,
“I heard that are king was gay, maybe it’s ‘cause she’s never had a man who’s done it right,” he said, putting his hand on her face,
Valkyrie kneed him in the groan, causing him to groan and fall on the floor.
“It’s not a choice, dumbass, and even if it was you’d be on the bottom of my list,” Valkyrie said,
She glanced around the room for a quick escape, spotting Y/N alone, walking away from the crowd.
The king made her way towards her, passing Jason surrounded by other woman, she rolled her eyes.
“Where are you going, darling?” she whispered lowly in her ear, sending a shiver down Y/N’s spine.
“Oh, Valkyrie, you scared me,” Y/N said, putting her hand on her heart,
They were in the secluded area of the hallways, far away from the ball.
“What are the chances everyone’s dancing and he’s not with you,” Valkyrie said,
“I’m not a fan of the crowds,” Y/N tried to defend,
“The universe must have divined this,” Valkyrie said, walking closer,
Y/N kept walking back until her back hit the wall, making a small gasp slip from her mouth.
“I could be a better boyfriend then him,” Valkyrie whispered, “I could do the shit that he never did.”
“Up all night I won’t quit,”
“Thinking I’m gonna steal you from him,” Valkyrie said, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear, “I could be such a gentleman,”
Y/N lips parted slightly.
“So what do you say, darling,” Valkyrie asked, “You could be my queen,”
They were inches away at this point until Y/N closed the gap.
“So is that a yes?” Valkyrie asked after they pulled apart,
Y/N chuckled and kissed her again.
“Yes,” she said,
“Break up with your boyfriend,” Valkyrie said, “I can tell you're bored,”
This Love - Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: The Blip took away your most important person, but when Wanda returns, you need time to heal from the loss of other Avengers. You do that in space, and when you come back, it's the Scarlet Witch who welcomes you.
Warnings: (+14) mild angst with happy ending, mutual pining, friends to lovers, mentions of past abusive relationships, some make-out and kissing, with fluff confessions, reader being a little shit who teases Wanda for fun, hurt/comfort, general fluff | Words: 7.707k
A/N-> Instead of getting a decent amount of sleep, I wrote this until two in the morning. The story has the same vibe as the powerpoint one, it's just me trying to fix the canon and give Wanda some love. I hope you like my attempts at humor as well. I may have also written a smut during a work meeting, but it's really short so I don't know if anyone would like to read it. Good luck with this one for now.
--//--
No matter how many times you took a deep breath and tried the knot again, your fingers were still shaky and you kept failing.
With a frustrated sigh of resignation, your tie fell open against your chest and you stared at your reflection.
The vivid flashes of the battle popped into your head in the same second, and you sighed again, lowering your face for a moment.
Wanda knocked on the half-open door.
"Hey, are you ready?" her voice was weak and tired but gentle. No matter how tired she was,  Wanda was always gentle with you. This was one of the things you loved most about her. "No, I'm fighting with my tie." You mumble annoyed like a child. Wanda smiles, however,  moving away from the door to approach you.
You both know that she could charm the knot with a simple movement, and yet, neither of you steps aside.
"It's a nice suit." Wanda comments and you blink away from counting her freckles, shifting the weight of your feet and smiling at the way she gives a warning tug on your tie.
"It was Tony's." You confess in a whisper, and her touch hesitates, her eyes returning to yours in search of any discomfort. You swallow dryly and lower your head. "All my things were in the compound.  I wanted to wear something special, and Tony was the only one who had a house..."
"I understand." Wanda interrupts you gently because she realizes that you are about to cry. She offers you a tender smile and pats the knot. "There you go. It suits you."
You give her a weak smile, nodding softly.
"Come on, Wands. It wouldn't be polite to be late for a wake." You joke, getting a small chuckle out of her that is enough to keep you going for the rest of the ceremony.
It's all so heartbreaking. Thanos took everything from you, even if the Avengers won this time. When the memorial was over, you saw Wanda talking with Clint from a distance, but you didn't join them. You were finishing the final arrangements with a certain Nordic god. Wanda came to meet you sometime later in the kitchen when the house was almost completely empty and Happy had taken Morgan out for hamburgers. And Tony's body had already turned to ashes.
Her presence in the room pushes your thoughts away from that.
"Hey, stranger." She greets you with a humorous nickname. It makes you smile. You return a frame to the shelf - the photo of the Stak Expo you showed Peter before he left, so the boy would have some idea of how much Tony really cared about him - before looking at the approaching redhead.
"Hey, magic fingers, are you hungry?" You ask and get a weak laugh at her nickname.  You bypass Wanda to walk to the kitchen and she turns around, leaning on the counter to watch you.
"I'm not sure." She says truthfully. "I'm not in the mood for food, but I think the last time I ate anything was dry crackers on the Quinjet on the way to Wakanda. That was about..."
"Five years ago." You complete with a chuckle that makes Wanda sigh.
"Yeah. Five years." She agrees sadly. You stare at her for a full moment before clearing your throat and starting to move.
"I will prepare your favorite then." You say and politely ignore her comments that you don't  have to until Wanda smiles in appreciation.
It is strange to have her back. You both know that this moment is fragile and superficial.  There are wounds in your relationship that started before Thanos but got worse after him.
"Something's bothering you." Wanda declares into the silence that has settled after several minutes of small talk and light jokes, as you step aside to wash the dishes of the delicious dinner you have prepared for the two of you. Wanda returns to her original position, her back resting on the counter as you lather up the sponge with your back to her.
"I have to tell you something, but I don't know how to say it." That's how you respond,  sincere though not so direct. There was no reason to deny to your telepathic best friend that you were anxious. She could literally feel it.
Wanda lets out a small laugh, "Just say it at once." She suggests. "Like ripping off a band-aid."
Her joke gets a short laugh out of you. Both plates are cleared before you sigh and say. "Thor is leaving and he invited me to go with him again. This time I said yes."
There is a big pause. You both let it stretch out as long as it can, each waiting for the other's reaction.  The dishes are cleared and you wipe your fingers on the dishcloth before turning away. Wanda has not moved from her seat but is looking at a point on the wall, twirling the rings on her fingers with a distant expression.
You swallow dryly and decide to explain why, imitating her position of leaning her back on a surface, in your case on the sink behind you.
"Wands, I know for you it's like no time has passed. But for me, a lot of shit has happened in  those five years." You start trying to keep the emotion under control, although you could already feel your eyes burning. "I lost you. And Sam, and Bucky, and Peter. I was devastated. I know we didn't have time to talk about it, but it was bad Wands. I just...lost myself on some levels. You must have heard the whispers about Clint, or I don't know, you  may have even been able to read what people were thinking and you know what he did as  Ronin was bad and I guarantee you that I did infinitely worse things."
"I don't mind-" Wanda tries but you deny it with your head, your eyes full of tears.
"But I mind." You interrupt with a tearful laugh. "We both know what it's like to lose control.  To have a force that can overwhelm you, until the anger is all you see and Wanda I was furious.  And I wasn't the only one. There was no shortage of people to encourage me in what I was doing, asking me to burn the world all to the ground and I was listening. I just... Really  missed you." You confess and Wanda sniffles softly but doesn't interrupt. "When I went too far, I regretted it. Natasha found me and accepted me back into the compound despite everything. She wanted to do the same for Clint, but he disappeared. And well, she was there for me and I wanted to return the favor. At some point, Nat and I happened again." The confession took Wanda by surprise. It shouldn't have, she knew about your history and saw the way you were shaken up, or how you took care of everything and went to Ohio for a few days with someone named Yelena. Something hot burned in Wanda's stomach at the confirmation, however.
You didn't notice anything in her micro-expressions, busy playing with the loose threads of your clothes.
"Natasha was all I had in this empty world that Thanos left behind. She loved me and forgave me despite everything I did. And now I've lost her too." You pause with the last sentence to keep from starting to cry, sniffling a little and that's the breaking point for Wanda to come closer and take her hands to yours, caressing your skin.
"I'm so sorry, detka. I really am." She says and you nod tearfully.
"I know, Wands, so do I. For Vis." You say, and the name makes the redhead hesitate a little.  She hasn't been talking about it.
You take a deep breath, releasing one hand from her to wipe your face. "I just need to get out of this place Wanda." You continue as calmly as you can. "I keep losing people and losing control with it. I don't want that. Thor can help me, even if Asgard doesn't exist anymore, he knows his magic. I just need a  little time out there."
Wanda nods in understanding, holding your hand tightly. "It's okay, I get it." She says but you know her well enough to hesitate.
Your hands squeeze hers back.
"I need to, but if you ask me to stay, I'll stay without a second thought." You retort seriously,  looking at her without hesitation. Wanda's eyes widen slightly in surprise. "Tell me it's too much, that you can't be alone now after losing Vision and god, after losing Natasha too. Or tell me whatever you want, that you simply don't want to have turned to dust for five years and now have to watch me leave too. I will stay. I'll bury those doubts down, never do magic  again and stay with you."
Your offer only proved to Wanda how much she needed to let go. That was the way you used to love Natasha too - Overwhelmingly and without limits - You loved Natasha until it hurt you. Even if it was too much, even if it wasn't healthy. Endless sacrifices until your relationship broke like glass, as fragile as your health.
Part of  Wanda envied the dedication, another hated Nat for not freeing you at once. And that is why Wanda insisted that you leave. She didn't want to love you the possessive way Nat did. She didn't want to hurt you. So she let you go. And you loved her infinitely more for it.
"It will be quick, I promise. I'll be back before you can miss me." Those were your words on the day of your departure. Wanda bit her tongue to avoid saying that she was already missing you now.
Since the compound no longer existed, you and Wanda were staying at Pepper's house. Little  Morgan was the most adorable and crafty child in the world, but she was causing some unfinished business to scratch in the back of Wanda's mind, a thing she was ignoring to spend your last days on earth with you.
She smiled at your words, retorting with a teasing "And who says I'm going to miss you?" to get your adorable pout and to keep herself from begging you not to go anywhere.
You hugged her tight for a moment that, though long, didn't seem long enough.  And then you left.
And Wanda realized how alone she really was.
She has tried to ignore the old deed they recovered from the rubble but a few days after your departure, she thinks she has run away too much.
-//-
You return to earth on a Monday. It is raining very hard and all your clothes are soaked. After mentally cursing Thor for the storm, you make your way leisurely through the yard to the house.
"Y/N? Oh my god, you're here!" Happy welcomes you with great enthusiasm, and although you are glad to see him again, you are more eager to see someone else. Morgan has grown up and is becoming as sarcastic and intelligent as her parents. Pepper is working and asks you to visit her at Stark Industries.
You don't waste time in doing it of course, but every second you are more annoyed by the lack of response about what really interests you.
Where is Wanda?
This is why you interrupt Pepper about the news. She hesitates and sighs before moving to the phone.
A moment later, they bring you a tablet.
"A lot has happened around here since you left, Y/N. From giant beings sprouting in the middle  of the ocean to mind-controlling gods of Egypt." Pepper narrated completely surprising you.  The tablet was placed in your hands, and it was open to a file with an icon of a sword, and the title was Anomaly Maximoff. "About the last one, our friend made some mistakes.  Recovering that information from SWORD was a billion-dollar courtesy, Y/N. And I'm  already warning you, it's even weirder than it sounds."
As soon as the Westview recordings started happening you felt an immense pain settle in your chest. The files had barely finished and you were already getting up.
"I need to find Wanda." That's what you said to  Pepper, who didn't try to be too insistent, figuring this would be your reaction.
But it took you long enough to irritate yourself to make any progress. Until you realized that if your magic was failing, it was because Wanda was running away from you.
So you showed up at the one place with other mages that she might not be able to avoid.  "Sorry, am I interrupting...?" You announced clumsily as you arrived at a scene that looked like the preparation for a battle.
Stephen Strange was the only one there that you knew, and he, as soon as he recognized you, widened his eyes and raised his finger in your direction.
"She's our answer, Wong! She is the solution!" Declared the sorcerer, to which you and the others raised confused eyebrows.
"Is it some kind of riddle, Strange?" The Wong fellow asked. The doctor denied with his head, approaching you and gently pushing you by the shoulders into the center of the room.  "Kamar Taj, meet Miss L/N, former Avengers and Half-Argardian Sorceress, also, our last hope to stop the Scarlet Witch without a fight."
You frowned.  "Sorry, I don't know any Scarlet Witch."
Stephen laughed, patting you on the back. "You have a lot of catching up to do, space girl. Let's start with  New Jersey...."
Wanda was not having a good day.
The voices were impatient. And mocking her for failing to fool Strange. A very low part was glad that she had failed, a hope of the plan not working and the child being safe.  But the other voices silenced that very quickly.
She was being reasonable, they said. Offer them the chance to surrender. If they don't, it's their fault if she hurt them.
She just wants the boys back.
The Kamar Taj was strangely peaceful when she arrived, however. Wanda was not stupid,  she expected at least a position of defense.
However, she arrived to magicians reading and teaching, and polite smiles from those who met her gaze.
Without any resistance, she can walk through the front door.
"Miss Maximoff, welcome to the Kamar Taj." Greeted an Asian man that Wanda quickly recognized as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Doctor Strange approached beside him. "Wanda, welcome." He said gently, and the scene was very odd to her. Wanda expected the hostility from before, but she recovered quickly and raised her chin.
"Thank you. But I'm here for-
"America, yes." Strange completed with a fake smile. "She's inside, I believe you are  merciful enough to let her have one last meal, yes?"
Wanda clenched her jaw. Whatever this passive-aggressive pretense was, it was getting on her nerves, but she played along. It wasn't as if anyone there had the power to stop her.
She followed the magicians inside and was led into a study room. Before she could ask where the child was, a voice was speaking.
"The Scarlet Witch can also be given the title Queen of Chaos." Your voice made Wanda shudder from head to toe. Something hot burned in her chest, and she felt her eyes fill with tears. But she dug her nails into her palms and held them in. Strange and Wong used her shock to sneak out of the room.
You swiveled the chair you were sitting in, and seeing you again was almost as overwhelming as hearing you. The sentence you said was clearly from the book in your lap,  and you raised your eyes from the page to Wanda, a smile playing on your lips. "And to  think I was right all this time to call you a princess, Wands."
She wanted to laugh. God, Wanda wanted to cry. To hold you and relieve the yearning in her chest for your presence. But something fought for control.
"I'm not here for you." That's what she said between her teeth, trying to keep her tears in place and her emotions under control.
You paid no attention to her aggressiveness, closing the book and returning it to the table before rolling across the top to cross the room quickly.
"I'm not here for you, jeez, someone is in the emo phase again." You scoffed as you did an imitation of her serious voice and accent and Wanda locked her jaw, her eyes reddening. You just chucked at her reaction. "Don't do that, Wands. A vast galaxy and I have failed to find  green eyes as beautiful as yours. Bring them back, I've missed it." Wanda choked, failing to contain the redness in her cheeks.
You were different, it was evident. That was flirtatious, brazen and charming. But you were not the only one who had changed.
"They think you can stop me?" She deduces then, her brain screaming at her to find a way to escape your presence and do what she came to do at once. You laugh short and Wanda is twiddling her fingers as you continue to move closer.
"I don't care what they think or want. I am here for you." That's what you say to her and  Wanda finds it amazing that she’s not crying. It must be because you are close enough to touch her and this possibility makes her completely still. You look at her with a tenderness that Wanda feels she doesn't deserve and asks in a tone way too gentle to deal with someone who had plans to tear this place to the ground. "I really missed you and I would like to hug my friend. Is it okay if I do that?" Wanda feels her cheeks wet and lowers her face at the same time, hoping to hide the tears you've already seen. She closes her eyes and nods, and the next second your arms wrap around her.
She only realizes how much she has missed human contact when she has it again. Her breath catches in her throat and the soft caresses you do on her back don't help the sighs that want to come out to fade away. Wanda feels warm and ashamed, but you just keep holding her.
"Can you pause your evil wizard vibe for five minutes, Wands? I wanted to take you out like we used to." You ask lowly.
Your invitation makes her hesitate, and that makes you let go. Wanda almost asks you to do more than a hug when she finds your gentle eyes so close, but she swallows dryly and retorts: "I'm busy, Y/N. And it's important. I have to-"
"Steal the girl's powers, yeah, the mages told me the story." You interrupted, and despite the severity of the facts, you kept smiling at Wanda and looking at her as if she deserved the world. "Can't you eat something before you break the multiverse?" This time your joke gets a  breathless chuckle from her and it's enough to make your smile even wider. You give a little jump of excitement, your eyes insistently searching Wanda's until she sighs and agrees and you let out another exclamation of celebration.
Your hand glides into hers with naturalness and Wanda has to dig her nails into the other one so as not to melt with a single touch.
"This place is huge, witchy, but I've already learned almost all the secret passages." You confide in her as if no time has passed, and you are on a fun ride.
On the way out, you wave to Strange and Wong, who seem tense to see how things were going, and Wanda has to push the voices telling her to finish the job away, and it's not hard with your warm hand in hers.
You take her through the busy streets as if you were at home.
"Can you believe I've never been to Nepal? To think Natasha made me go all around Asia, but never here." You commented casually and Wanda almost shudders at the sudden mention of  Nat. She hasn't heard that name in a long time, and hearing you speak so calmly makes her realize that your time away has helped you with your grief. And that's exactly what she says to you, to which you let out another light laugh. "Well not everyone can create a sitcom life." Your response is not a provocation or repression, but Wanda is so shocked that she stops walking at once and pulls her hand hard against her own chest.
Regret fills your face in the same second, but it is she who speaks first. "How did you...?" "The first thing I did when I came back was to look for you." You begin to explain before she even completes the question. "SWORD recorded the whole thing, and Potts recovered the files. An exchange of favors I imagine. That's not relevant. What is relevant..." you say,  approaching her and making Wanda hold her breath. Your gaze is serious and intense, and one of your hands meets her cheek. “Wands. You swore you were fine, that I could go. Do you realize how guilty I am feeling for leaving you alone?"
Wanda closes her eyes for a moment, letting the tears fall as she takes a deep breath. "I am not your responsibility, Y/N."
You hesitate, frowning slightly. "No, you are my best friend." You retort still without sounding angry, and Wanda shudders when your other hand reaches for her cheek. "Most of the time, you are more."
"God, I can't  do this right now." Wanda breaks the moment at once, her voice husky and affected as she pulls away with wet eyes. You let your hands fall to the side of your body, biting your lip as you watch her. "I asked you to leave because it was the right thing to do. I kept fighting because it was the right thing to do! I killed Vision because it was the right thing!" She begins to blurt out. "And I freed Westview, I lost my family, my boys-" Wanda broke into a sob, needing to pause for a deep breath. "I am all alone. And I  just want my children back."
But you sighed impatiently, and the reaction surprised her completely.  "Children who don't exist."
Wanda locked her jaw and raised it in defiance. "They exist, in every other universe."
"They are not your children then." You reason without hesitation, and Wanda stares at you indignantly. But you are moving, and because you keep talking, she has no choice but to follow you. "Think about it, princess, just as you are not the Wandas from another universes, Billy and Tommy are not your twins. By the way, I love the choice of name, which of the two is  your favorite?"
Wanda babbles in astonishment, trying to absorb your words, and you take advantage of her reflexive shock to buy food.
You reappear at her side with delicious snacks and guide her to a bridge.  Wanda accepts neither the food nor your arguments.
"I will leave this world and live in one where I can be with my children." She declares and you chew leisurely.
"I thought you quit that whole fake life thing." You sneer and she huffs in offense, her eyes glittering. You bite back a smile, raising your hand to touch the tip of her nose playfully.  "Just messing with you, grumpy witch. Bring back the lovely green." Wanda grunts in embarrassment, but the color returns to her eyes along with a pink to her cheeks.
"It's not fake. I'll make things right." She tries but you giggle again.
"You will steal someone else's life, lie and manipulate everything and everyone to continue in a universe that is not yours, in a family that is not yours. It feels like a lie to me."
Wanda swallows dryly but does not hesitate.
"They are my children, Y/N." She insists and you swallow your food before asking:
"Speaking of them, that part wasn't clear to me with the three hundred edits your  subconscious made to the Westview transmission, but, are you some kind of virgin Mary?" Wanda choked in shame at the realization, stepping forward to slap you on the arm that only made you laugh. "Hey, hey, I have a point okay, as far as I know, RoboCop doesn't have a  dick and, you know how babies are made right, little witch?"
Wanda grunted in shame, sinking her face into her hands for a moment. "God, I had forgotten how terrible you are." She muttered to herself before looking back at you, a smile threatening to break her serious posture. "For your information, not that it is any of your business, I am not a virgin. Vision could change into a  human form and that means-”
"Oh my god, I'm gonna puke!" You interrupt with a forced frown and are so childish that  Wanda can't help but giggle. "Fuck, the mental images I've gotten now. Not yours of  course, you are adorable, but he... urgh, I'm going to have nightmares."
 "Shut up." Wanda laughed shaking her head in disbelief at your reaction. You just kept up with her, and you were so pleased to have made her laugh that it wasn't long before you were looking at her in that way that makes her legs wobbly, so Wanda had to clear her throat. "The kids are mine, Y/N. Having a family was part of the fantasy but the pregnancy happened. My boys are real and I want them back."
You nod in understanding, and look out over the landscape, wiping your hands on a napkin now that you have finished eating. The market is full a few streets behind you but the bridge it was almost completely empty, and you could see the pier clearly, and it was beautiful. Not as much as the woman next to you.
"I like the crown. It suits you." You tell her suddenly and Wanda feels she’s blushing, one hand instinctively going to adjust the icon on her head. Before she can say thank you, you straighten up again and one hand holds her wrist. "The containment spell is here, isn't it? I  can feel it. I imagine it's for carrying that evil book of yours anywhere you want." Wanda swallows dryly. Your touch is so soft and doesn't match your firm tone. Part of her wants to pull your hand back, another part wants you to never let go.  "I think Westview is my fault." You state next and Wanda sighs.
"It wasn't." She says taking a step forward. "I can answer for my actions, detka. I've made mistakes, and people got hurt. But you have nothing to do-"
"I bought the land, Wanda." You interrupt by lowering your face and releasing her wrist.  Wanda blinks in surprise and confusion.
"W-what? No. Vision bought..."
You cut her off with a laugh. "Wanda, get real for the love of God. Vision was a machine. He didn't even have any papers, let alone money. He wasn't even a human being for a job. But I  don't know, you cared about him and because I loved you, I took care of both of you." You blurt out. "Do you think I couldn't see how tired you were getting from having to run from one hotel to another with him? Damn, I couldn't even blame him for not noticing, the guy didn’t understand human needs like sleeping in a bed, or having decent meals. And I knew you.  Your desire for a normal and peaceful life. I bought the land, and I told the microwave to give it to you as a place to grow old because you would, and he wouldn't. And I never said anything because you refused to see it, Wanda. It was a life with no future for you two, but you would rather pretend you could spend  years in the suburbs with an electric oven than think about the possibility of moving to space with me."
Wanda is in shock at the confession, but only for a few seconds.
"Vis never told me that." She says and you give a short laugh, turning your body toward the bridge again.
"Of course not, things weren't supposed to be that way." You mutter mysteriously and Wanda frowns.
"What do you mean?" She asks but at your lack of response, she grunts impatiently, poking you in the ribs. "Y/N, what do you mean?" She insists and you sigh loudly.
"Damn it, Wanda, what do you think?" You blast back. "I thought we had a chance! I  thought... I don't know. I bought you a house so you could have a real home. I turned down  Thor's first invitation to stay here with you, even though you and Vision were just starting to try. The whole team knew how I felt, except you. And he was the last to notice, Vis understood when I handed over the keys. He didn't want to accept it, thinking it wasn't right, but I insisted that he keep the house. All those years and you never looked at me the same way, but I just wanted you to be happy, even with someone else. That's what I told him, and he kept the story to  himself as I asked."
Wanda's heart broke in her chest. She choked softly, and you looked away again. "B-but you and Nat-" She tries to argue, but you just give another sad laugh.
"We didn’t work out. It never worked out." You say shrugging. "We started out bad and we ended worse. And when I lost you, we held onto ghosts of our relationship for some comfort, and don't get me wrong, I would love Natasha forever, just not in the same way as the first time. The only person I love like that is you."
Wanda needs to sit down. But she thinks the whereabouts of the bridge are support enough for the moment.
You sigh sadly, twisting your fingers together. "I'm sorry I didn't say all of this sooner. I was scared and insecure. You know how I am, and all the things that have been fucked up in my  past." You continue to speak, looking at the landscape. "And you were my best friend. You were easily the most important person in my life, and I was afraid of messing that up and being alone. So I chickened out and hid what I was feeling, how much I was falling in love.  When everyone on the team knew, I thought about confessing. Steve tried to convince me,  he was always great at speeches.” You recall with a sad laugh without meeting the eyes of the shocked Wanda next to you, who listens to the story without interrupting. "Even Natasha told me to move on. She had just found Yelena again and talked about lost time. And I almost did, Wanda, I swear I did. So many times. And all those times I lost my nerve, listening to my insecurities instead of my friends. Until the blip happened and you were just gone out of my life at once."
The redhead swallows dryly, reaching up to take your hand on the ledge. You look at her with contact, and your eyes are moist like hers.
"Can you forgive me?" You ask so small that Wanda sighs.
"Detka, I have nothing to forgive." She says affectionately. "You always put everyone's feelings before your own, ever since I met you. I understand why you did that, I wish you  would have told me but I understand because I did the same thing." She confesses and you widen  your eyes in surprise, receiving only a tearful smile. Wanda brings her free hand to your cheek, "How can you think I don't love you back? After all we've been through together,  what we've done for each other. I wanted you the second I saw you. You were the only person who could make me laugh after I lost Pietro, and I loved your company even though it took me a while to let you know it. I wanted to kiss you so many times, detka. In my room watching TV or cooking together. But you weren't mine. I knew that whatever existed between you and Nat was important and hurtful, but it was still there. And your friendship was all I had and I couldn't risk that. So I kept silent, and I was selfless. I let you free and I  let you go, every time." Wanda lets out a short breath, releasing her hand to hold your face with both now. "And all this time you loved me back?"
You nod, ready to break the distance, your face tilting instinctively. Wanda's eyes almost close as your lips brush hers, but despite shuddering, she pulls her face back gently. You almost apologize, but she speaks before you can. "I could have had you all this time if I had been selfish for once. I keep losing all that’s mine, detka. I'm tired of it. No one is going to  take anything from me again, ever."
You frown slightly, trying to think of what to say next, but all words fail you when Wanda's soft lips reach yours. She kisses you gently, but only for the first moment. As soon as you sigh, Wanda pulls away only to dive in hard, her hands firmly on your cheeks. It's hot. And fucking sexy. Her tongue asks permission on your lip, but she barely waits for confirmation to slide inside, hungrily devouring and exploring every inch of your mouth,  making you shiver. Wanda controls the kiss with ease and mastery, and your legs go wobbly,  so you hold her waist tightly, both for support and to feel her against you. She smiles into your lips, sighing in satisfaction at the new closeness.
When air is needed, Wanda pulls away with a long sigh, and you are equally breathless, your mind half clouded with attraction. She gives you a few long kisses before opening her eyes,  but it takes you another whole moment to do so, blushing a little as you find her gaze shining with mischief as she watches you.
"Come with me." She whispers close to you, against your lips. You blink in confusion, and she swallows dryly as she clarifies. "I want you with me. Leave this reality by my side."
 It's your turn to swallow dry and to remain unresponsive. You open your mouth, but can't think of what to say, and your hesitation makes something sparkle in her eyes. "Wanda, I can't..." You started but she firmed the grip on your face.
"You said you loved me." She recalls with a fury shining in her green irises and you almost shudder. You bite your tongue to keep from giving away how affected you are now, it wasn't fair that Wanda was so beautiful. "Prove it."
You grunted softly, moving one hand to her forearm and stroking the skin until she sighed and released the grip, letting her hands fall away from your face.
You don't let her go completely, holding one of them against your chest.
"I love you." You assure looking into her eyes, watching the anger fade from her irises and her serious expression falter. "With all my heart, Wanda. Always and forever. You know that, I'm sure you can search every corner of my mind and find the evidence. I will follow you anywhere and support you in your decisions. I would if destroying worlds was your heart's  desire, but I know it's not."
Wanda frowns, trying to pull her hand back but you don't let go. "Maybe you don't know me  well enough." She challenges but you just give a sad smile.
"I know you too well even." You retort. "Much better than the demons in your head, I assure you. The mages told how it works, the whole corruption thing. It shows your children to use the pain as a trigger. I bet they told you to burn Kamar Taj to the ground for the girl."
"I need her powers to reach the boys-"
"Do you really?" You interrupt in the same challenging tone. "Or is that all the voices told you? Because I don't know if you've heard, but there are plenty of spells that take you to another universe. Strange himself was playing around with that sort of thing a few months ago, and he's not even the supreme. And you are the Scarlet Witch, my dear. Don't you find it the least bit suspicious that the demons want to limit you to a child's portals?"
Wanda hesitates, confused and indignant. You're right, but the voices are screaming at her not to listen to you, and it's hard to ignore them.
"I-I..." She tries but you interrupt her by licking your lips.
"They told you to destroy this place and kill a child. You, Wanda. The girl who would fall asleep on my shoulder when we stayed up late watching Bewitched in the tower or always put extra syrup on her waffles. And does a terrible mimic of all the Simpsons characters and  can name all the members of the countless bands she listens to." You listed tenderly,  making Wanda blush. Your face turns sad. "Before you arrived, they explained everything to me and gave me the books and I asked them not to fight. Of course, they would have no chance of winning, but besides, I didn't recognize the person they were talking about. This terrifying Witch of legend. God, Wanda, they told me to be careful. With you! My best friend. 'Don't mention Westview', 'don't be aggressive, don't challenge her. Rules and  protocols, and all I could remember was the girl i kept hugging while she cried for two whole days after Lagos." Wanda chokes, looking away with tear-filled eyes but you pull her back to you, a hand on her cheek.
"I'm not that person anymore, Y/N. You have no idea..." She began with emotion. "There is something in my chest. A fury, and a pain. And I feel like it has completely consumed me. I  don't want to hurt anyone. But I will. I'm tired of losing everything."
"I know what it's like, Wanda." You insist, squeezing her hands. "I wanted to burn the whole world when Thanos took you from me. And I was going to. Until I crossed the line and hurt innocent people. It was rock bottom for me. I was becoming worse than the people who hurt  me in Hydra. I was becoming someone that you wouldn't know how to recognize. And even without you, I came home and tried to continue being the same person you loved, because there was still hope in my heart that you would come back to me. At worst, I would die helping  what was left of the Avengers and find you in Valhala."
Wanda wrinkles her nose tenderly at the mention of the Nordic paradise, knowing that this was Thor's influence in your life, but doesn't interrupt. You smile at her, sighing deeply before  continuing to speak:
"You don't have to hit rock bottom too, I'm here for you. And I don't want you to go back to that place where you hated yourself. I can't let you keep hurting."
Wanda hesitates, studying your face for a moment. "You can’t stop me." It's her last resort, the dark hold influence forcing the last argument with the clear loss of control of the witch's mind. You just give a sad smile.
"Would you hurt me, Maximoff?" It's a challenge in jest, but just the possibility makes Wanda shiver. Still, she raises her chin.
"I could if I wanted to."
You hum, narrowing your eyes before tilting your head, your lips finding her jaw and kissing their way to her neck. Wanda melts at once, completely losing her serious posture and having to steady one of her hands on your biceps.
"What a mean little witch you have become..." You sneer, teeth scratching at her skin, and  Wanda wants to push you away, overwhelmed with affection and attraction, but all she does is dig her nails into your skin, tilting her neck and giving you even more access. "Kind of  kinky this pain thing, but I can learn to like it."
"Can’t you..." She tries, choking on her own breath as your lips firm and start sucking hard enough to bruise, sending a straight heat wave to her belly. "Take anything seriously...for five...ah-minutes?" The delicious sound that escapes in the middle of her sentence makes you tighten your grip on her waist, and  Wanda struggles to keep her eyes open.
"I'm sorry, baby, but you're too beautiful for me to think of anything else but kissing you  every time I look at you." That's what you say, pulling your lips away to look at her so lovingly that her heart races just as fast as when you touch her. "And when you've seen  someone in slippers or singing the opening of looney tunes, it's hard to give credence to  their villainous era."
Wanda forms an annoyed pout, and this only adds to your smile. She tries to break your embrance, but you kiss her again and she sighs before giving in to the sensation. It is calmer than before but just as intense. When her body heats up again, the feeling of your tongue on hers bringing butterflies to her stomach, you pull away, licking your lips with dark eyes, which sends a strong wave of arousal all through her body and leaves her speechless for a second.
"I can't believe we wasted so much time not doing that." You confess in an affected whisper,  rubbing your nose against hers and making her smile. "Can I kiss you until you forget about  the multiverse?" The suggestion makes Wanda let out a short laugh, shaking her head and trying to bring some reason to herself.
"Tempting, really, but I need to find my children." She manages to say, nudging your shoulder for you to release her.
"We can make new ones." You joke receiving a sigh of indignation and a pinch in the rib that makes you pull away as you laugh softly.
"Idiot." Wanda mutters in fake annoyance. She turns and walks back toward the Kamar Taj and you sigh before following her.
"I would not dream of interrupting your determined march, your majesty of Chaos, but may I  suggest a proposal other than the murder of a child and the destruction of worlds?" Your causal tone makes Wanda laugh faintly despite the seriousness of her words. She was going to say that she wasn't going to hurt anyone, but she didn't correct you because the conflict in her mind was making her nauseous.  At her nod, you continued, "How about we burn the evil book, order some pizza, and hang out with the warlocks and the portal girl? She's pretty cool, you know? She's a little bit inquisitive, and she asks some funny questions. She also speaks Spanish..."
"You're trying to make me like her so I'll give up stealing her powers." Wanda interrupts with a puzzled expression, and you let out a soft sigh, shrugging in confirmation as you continue to follow her. She also sighs. "What do you suggest as a way to travel through the  multiverse if not her powers?"
The question makes you make a thoughtful expression. "Well, from what I've read about you,  being the Scarlet Witch is a pretty big deal. You can alter reality at will, right? Super cool, by the way. Can't you, I don't know, create a machine that has her abilities?" Wanda frowns slightly. "Humm... I don't know."
"You didn't even try, did you?" you retort with a chuckle. "That's what I'm saying, Wanda.  These voices in your head are using your fears to manipulate you. I've been here for five minutes, and I've already brought an alternative solution. You don't have to hurt anyone to get your family back. You can find another way, and I will be here to help you."
Wanda stops walking, holding her wrist with some hesitation. Her eyes scan your face for any sign that you are trying to trick her, as the voices say you are, but she only finds sincerity.
"If we're going to do that, I can't stay here." She says looking at the entrance gate for a  moment. "America's presence might tempt me. I'm not... trustworthy. Not when I can still  hear them."
You swallowed dryly, nodding in understanding. Wanda looked away, so you brought your hand to her cheek.
"We need to fix this first then, Wanda. You wouldn't want to bring those demons to your children,  would you?" It's a rhetorical question, but one that Wanda answers in the negative with an immediate nod, a bitter feeling on the edge of her stomach. You stroke her cheek. "Don’t you know anyone who has dealt with that sort of thing? The only witches I've met are a  couple of galaxies away and I don't have a spaceship..."
Wanda laughed softly, leaning into your touch for a moment before letting out a soft exclamation, remembering. "Actually I do know someone. The woman I got the darkhold  from. She was an experienced witch, hundreds of years old. She didn't seem the least bit  affected by use."
"Let's go to her then." You said, kissing the tip of her nose, which made her smile,  before walking away. Wanda was about to complain about the lack of closeness, but you intertwined your arms and gestured into the air. "Go on, do your Wiggly Woo and teleport us,  scarlet witch." You scoffed in jest, managing a small laugh.
Wanda conjured a portal, and realized, by the way, you were holding her, that you would not leave her alone again. And she was infinitely grateful for that.
SCARLET LOVE
Wanda Maximoff x Stark!Reader
Enemies to Friends to Lovers
The 2,000th Follower Special!!!
Request by @maximofflover
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff. The name, that face. It was going to be the death of you. When you first met her, that phrase was in the literal sense of the word.
You were trying to help your dad with his little Ultron sized problem when you first confronted her. She growled at you, a little flare of red in her eyes.
“You’re his seed?” She growled, having searched your mind and finding the happy images of you with Tony Stark.
“Well that’s one way of putting it, Witchiepoo“
“Really? HR Pufnstuf joke?“ Her demeanor slightly breaking.
“What can I say?“ You smirked, “I like TV shows older than me“ You tried to joke only for her brother to speed in and knock you off your feet.
Being the youngest Avengers has its perks and disadvantages. Unlike your father, you were born with the powers of crystalline constructs and power mimicry. You love to use it in sparring matches with Steve, you hope to get him to tap out some day but he never does.
This woman and her speedster brother were something else.
“Wanda, lets go“ the white haired man says as he grabs her and speeds off.
Wanda. Quite a beautiful name. For a witch.
As fate would have it, the twins joined your team less than two days later. Turns out working for a homicidal robot isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. She and Pietro were marched into the Tower, you couldn’t help but smirk at the two as they walked in.
“Don’t think this changes anything, Stark!“ She growled at you.
“We’ll see“ you smirk right back at her.
She saw indeed. Ultron fired a stole Quinjet’s turret at Clint and him towards the end of the battle.
Thinking fast, you threw up a crystal construct that shielded Pietro, except for a stray shot, which hit his right shin. You and Clint worked fast to get him to the last life raft.
“Didn’t see that coming“ he smirked before giving you a salute as you set him down.
“Where’s your sister?“ you looked around and couldn’t see her anywhere.
“Wanda? She’s at the church“ he tried to stand only to fall back onto the life raft’s seat. You quickly copied his speed and sped off after her.
You raced through the city, zipping in and out. For the first time, you felt fear. Sure she may have hated your guts but you didn’t hate her. If that makes any and all sense.
You sped right up to her right as the last Ultron drone hit the button and dropped the city. You formed a hang glider and glided the young witch to safety.
“Y-You saved me?“ She looked at you confused.
“We’re a team now, right?“ You smirked as you guided the makeshift glider to the floating life raft.
“You’re something else, Stark“ she whispered.
“Funny“ you smiled, “I could say the same about you.“
Getting Wanda and Pietro settled into the Compound was not easy. It’s hard going from a life on the run to one with clean, warm beds.
Wanda found herself wandering the Compound’s living quarters more often than not in the early morning hours. On one such night, she heard a familiar tune coming from the Compound living room.
“BeWitched?“ she thought to herself as she crept quietly towards the sound.
She found you, sitting on the couch and watching an episode of Bewitched.
“Hi“ she said rather meekly
“Hey Witchiepoo“ you smile back. Wanda couldn’t help but roll her eyes at that nickname.
“You’ve got to come up with another nickname, Stark“
“How about Sabrina? She’s a better witch anyway“ you pat the seat next to you. Wanda takes a seat, her attention on the show but then slowly, ever so slowly, she finds her attention drawn to you.
“You’re not at all what I thought you were.“ Wanda says.
“I could say the same about you too.“ you answer back.
“Pietro told me how you saved his life. Thank you.“
“It’s nothing. It’s what we do“ you try to shrug it off. She grabs your hand
“No really. Thank you“ she stares you in the eye. “Pietro was all I ever had for so long. Can…can we start over?“
“Well then…Hi I’m (Y/N), (Y/N) Stark“ you hold out your hand to her. She gladly shakes it.
“Wanda. Wanda Maximoff“ she laughs.
That day Wanda and you became good friends and within a matter of weeks, the best of friends. Pietro couldn’t be happier, finally, he could get some alone time away from his sestra.
Many nights spent watching TV and many days spent rummaging thrift shops or vinyl record stores. Cooking or dancing in the kitchen. It was the most free Wanda had felt in so long. She felt so alive when she was with you, her best friend.
But Wanda couldn’t help but feel a little stirring in her heart every time she was with you. She didn’t know what to quantify it as.
Tony chose to retire from the Iron Man duties and he passed them off to you. And with it came the new job of spokesperson. Constantly going from news conference to talk show appearances.
Wanda would stay up late to watch you during those appearances. Pietro took notice.
“Someone’s in love, sestra“ he joked with her.
“Shut up! Y/N’s just my friend.“ she tried to convince herself. Love? What was it? Is this what it feels like?
Wanda finds her attention back on the TV screen as one of the Jimmys who hosts the shows asks you a question.
“So is there anyone in your life right now? Any special girl?“ The audience is on the edge of their seats.
“Well there’s Pepper who’s been the closest thing to a mom for me. And then there’s my best friend, Wanda. I love her more than anything“ You immediately shut your mouth, did that really just spill out?
Wanda’s jaw hits the floor. Pietro immediately ribs her, laughing.
“Looks like you’re not the only one!“ He continues laughing as  Wanda catapults him out of the room with her Hex magic.
You arrived back at the Compound in the early morning hours. You walk in to find Wanda, wrapped her in scarlet red shawl, the picture of a heavenly being.
“Hi“ she whispers to you, shuffling on her heels.
“Hi Wanda“ her name a mere whisper on your lips. “You…um…heard?“
“I did.“ She takes a step towards you, “Is it crazy? That you fell for me and I fell for you“
“You’re in love with me?“ Your own breath caught in your throat. Wanda immediately bites her lips.
“I-I am“ she states a little defiantly, remaining totally confidant. “Is that crazy?“
“Well…uh…you’re my best friend“ you try to find the right words. “I love your smile, your whole being. I want to give you everything I can.“
She walks up to you, her gentle touch caresses your face. Her porcelain face only has pure adoration written on it.
“I wanna hold you when you’re hurting. I wanna kiss away your tears“ you try to continue.
Wanda begins to tear up, a small smile crosses her face. “well I’m crying now. What are you going to do about it, Stark?“
“This“ you smirk as you pull her into a kiss. Her touch, the electricity that it sends up and down your spine.
She pulls back, a bigger smile on her face now.
“I think I’m still crying“ she smirks right back before pulling you into another kiss. The two of you giggle as you hold her close.
“Finally“ Pietro remarks, “I was on the edge of seat here!“
Wanda Maximoff. She’s gonna be the death of you someday. Your greatest enemy, then friend, now something even more intoxicating. How the two of you look forward to what it entails.
Gender: neutral! No pronouns used!
WARNINGS: fighting (verbal), yelling, self-esteem issues, crying/breakdown/depressive episode
Tumblr media
*not my gif*
"Watch where you're going." Natasha Romanoff spits at you as you almost run into her.
"Sorry," you roll your eyes. You're not a spiteful person. You've never really hated anyone. But that woman gets under your skin like nothing else.
Her demeanor is always negative and, from the moment she met you, she disliked you. You have no idea why. You literally just said 'hi I'm Y/N, nice to meet you' and she just walked away. Whatever. Let her deal with her own problems alone just like she wants to be.
You head to the kitchen for dinner, sitting next to Wanda.
"I made paprikash!" She tells you excitedly. "Try some?"
"Sure," you give her a smile as she puts some on your plate.
You hesitantly try it, immediately squinting at the heat. You try not to make a sudden move, but a little cough forces its way out of your throat.
"What? You don't like it?" Wanda looks so sad.
"No, no, it's just, really spicy," you sputter.
She gives you a look. "That's only mild paprika in there."
"I'm an American with no spice tolerance, which means I really can't handle anything spicy." You smile at her apologetically. "I'm sure I would love it if I could, though."
"Alright, thanks for trying." Wanda gives you a little side-hug.
Then, your most favorite person in the world walks in. The light tone of conversation around the table fades just slightly as everyone looks between the two of you.
Best part? The only open seat is right in front of you.
Tony hastily stands up. "I can sit there, Widow."
"No, that's alright." Natasha shakes her head and takes the seat. You roll your eyes and look away from her.
Very slowly, conversation resumes. You share a look with Wanda, who is clearly trying to encourage the two of you to get along.
Unlikely.
You would make an effort. But she hated you first and literally has never tried to be nice. So why would you waste your time?
"So Nat," Wanda grabs her attention. You let out an audible 'ugh'. "You like the Hunger Games movies, right?"
"Yeah," Natasha shrugs.
"Y/N likes them, too! See-"
"No, actually, I hate them. I think they're stupid and childish." She lands her gaze on you.
"Oh so whatever I like, you have to hate, right? Because you hate me so much?" Your anger is grabbing a hold of your heart.
"Only because you hate me," she rolls her eyes, which makes your blood boil.
"I literally never did anything to you! You were the one who brushed off my introduction! The first time I ever spoke to you, you walked away!"
"I had more important places to be," Natasha sneers.
"Oh, sure." You fold your arms.
"Okay, okay, let's all just settle down here for a moment." Tony stands up.
"No," you immediately retort. "I actually think she should explain what I ever did to her."
"You're annoying as-"
"Hey, hey, hey," Tony tries again.
"I literally said hi to you. That's it? How am I the bitch?!" Your voice is raising.
"Y/N, calm down." Wanda puts a hand on your shoulder. "We can talk this out, just not right now."
"No, I want to know." You are yelling. "When you give me a good reason as to why you hate me, I'll never talk to you again. You owe it to me."
"Maybe we should move," Sam suggests, already standing and pulling Bucky with him.
"Yeah," Tony follows. "Try not to break anything, but feel free to fight it out."
You stand in complete silence with your arms crossed. You made your point. Now it's her move.
"I don't owe you anything, actually." Natasha's voice raises.
"Just tell me what your deal is!"
"You're an annoying screw up! You're not worth anything to this team!"
You blink. She purses her lips. Surprisingly, you feel tears come to your eyes just slightly. You nod and walk out of the kitchen.
Wow.
It shouldn't affect you. You know she's just saying it to make you angry. Obviously. But you already feel like just a shadow compared to her. They could honestly drop you at any moment and be totally fine. As much as you hate to say it, she's right.
Why do you add to the team?
Nothing. You have the same skillset as Natasha. No special powers, no crazy family asset, not anywhere near as much eloquence in your movements as her.
Comments on social media agree with that. They've called you 'The Black Widow from Wish.com' which made you feel just great. And you screw up a lot of missions because you loose concentration. You're not totally comfortable working in front of a crowd. The alien bad guys scare you just with the way you look, like in a horror movie.
You slam your bedroom door shut, locking it with the manual chain so Tony can't tell FRIDAY to open it. You flop onto your bed, tears already streaming down your face.
As if you couldn't have any worse ideas, you pull out your phone and open Instagram, scrolling through all of your comments, reading each of the nasty ones. It's awful and you don't know why you can't stop. Each new insult makes your stomach drop.
The tears come faster until you can't see the screen anymore and you're audibly sobbing.
At this point, you couldn't care less about what Natasha thinks. The whole world hates you. You have absolutely zero fanbase. Anyone else makes an appearance, people cheer. You show up and they completely stop. Widow from wish. The Walmart-brand superhero of the group. And at first you laughed at it until you realized they were serious.
You just lay there for hours. The sun sets, the moon comes up. The sky is too cloudy for stars. The TV is playing some 1am crap. Sadness is tugging at your chest so hard that every time you try to doze off, you just start crying again.
At 2:30am, there is a knock. Then silence as you just wait for them to go away. Then the door squeaks as it cracks open, but is stopped by the chain.
"Y/N?" Someone whispers.
"Not present." You say is a dead voice.
"Y/N," the voice is clear now. It's Natasha.
You groan. "Please go away."
"I came to apologize." She sighs.
"Yeah sure," you roll your eyes.
"No, I'm serious."
You think for a moment. "I'm not getting up to take that lock off."
Natasha is silent. "Okay."
And you think that's the end of it. But nope, you hear the chain starting to rattle. Is she seriously trying to unlock it? That's the most effort she's ever put in with you before. Unfortunately, you hear the chain fall only a second later.
You will be adding a new manual lock in the morning.
You see Natasha's figure in the dark. She very hesitantly comes over.
"I'm really sorry."
You just stare at the ceiling.
"I didn't mean anything I said."
"Really?" You roll your eyes again.
Natasha inhales sharply. "Yeah."
"You didn't mean any of it? Not even the part where you said you don't owe me anything?" You're just pulling at her now. You know she won't say no to that.
"No. Absolutely not."
Oh. Hm.
"I actually do owe you an explanation."
Hm. She's being serious. You move your eyes to look at her. She is a mess. Her hair is falling out of her pony tail and it is frizzed all over. She's still in her clothes from dinner, but her makeup is gone.
Natasha clears her throat and slowly sits down on the edge of the bed. You sit up because you actually do believe she's going to tell you the truth.
"When Tony brought you in," she starts shakily and takes a moment to recompose. "I thought I was going to be kicked out. You're a carbon copy of me, only without the enemies and the bloody history."
You laugh lightly and you see her relax.
"So, I was worried. And then I met you and you were so nice and pretty and I just-" she pauses, "I just thought it would be easier to hate you than make you my weak spot."
"Oh," you whisper. She nods. "That's actually crazy because I always feel like I'm in your shadow and I'm going to be kicked out."
Natasha laughs tensely.
You sigh. "I'm just you but not as good or strong or confident."
"That's not true," she whispers. "You're one of the most confident people I know."
"No way. I never feel good about myself." You confess.
"You don't show it at all."
You shrug. "Just always trying to convince Tony to let me stay, I guess. Always trying to look really put-together and intelligent."
"I'm so sorry." She repeats.
You nod. "I'm sorry for yelling, too."
"You have nothing to apologize for. I was being an ass."
You shake your head. "Still. I didn't help."
The both of you don't say anything and there's an anxious pause.
"I forgive you," you say quietly.
"You do?" Natasha looks shocked.
You nod. "I understand what you were thinking. I was thinking the exact same thing, just backwards. And it hasn't been easy holding all of that in."
Natasha breathes in relief. "Yeah."
Then, you decide to just mend the bond. You lean in and wrap your arms tightly around her. For a moment, she doesn't move. And then, she turns and puts her arms around you, too.
You start crying again, though you're not sure why. You try to hold the tears in but one escapes and your breath catches.
"What's wrong?" Natasha asks without moving.
"Everyone online hates me." You whimper.
"What do you mean?" She holds you tighter.
"They say I'm the knock-off version of you." And, honestly, you feel that a weight has lifted off your chest as you finally admit that out loud.
"They're very wrong." She says. "You're all the good parts of me. Plus, you're a badass on your own. You can run so much faster than me and you aren't weighed down so much by the past. They don't know what they're talking about. You're amazing."
"Really?" You say through your sobs.
"Yes." She makes eye contact with you to make you listen. "Really. I've wasted all this time being mad at you when I could've been-"
The end of her sentence hangs in the air and she gently starts to sway you back and forth as she keeps holding you tight.
"Everything will be alright," she whispers into your ear.
You feel yourself starting to calm down enough to take a few deep breaths.
"You wanna watch something? Would that help take your mind off it?" Natasha suggests.
You nod.
"Okay. I'm going to get you some water. You find a movie, I'll be right back."
You nod again.
You search for the Hunger Games and she returns a minute later with a glass of water. She smiles when she sees the TV.
"I actually do like this movie, too. I was lying about that."
"I know," you giggle.
She hands you the water and helps steady your shaking hands. The warmth of her hands on your's makes your heart beat just a little bit faster.
You take a few sips of water and place the glass on your nightstand. Then you lay back into your pillows, gesturing for Natasha to lay next to you. She is slightly hesitant but follows suit regardless.
A few minutes into the movie and a twinge of sadness sparks in your heart again. You curl up to Natasha's side to help ease the pain. She puts her arm around you, and you let the warmth flood any emotion away.
The Reaping isn't even over before you fall asleep.
💫
"Well, that's a dramatic turn-of-events," Tony's voice wakes you up.
"Fuck off," Natasha tells him. You hear him mutter something and walk away. You giggle into her chest. "Morning."
"Good morning!" You smile bright squeezing your tired eyes shut against the slits of sun on your face.
"Feeling better?" She kisses the top of your head, making you blush.
"Yeah, thank you." You wrap your arm around her and give her a hug. She brings her other arm up and hugs you back.
"Of course."
And you had the best morning just laying there for an hour.
Thanks for reading! Don't steal, I'll come for u :p
Hurting You
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) Masterlist
Requested by Anon: I’m back for another angst request 😬 uhm 10/44/12 from the whump dialog 2 pls? Reader is fed up with Carol or Wanda always running away after arguments or taking longer missions and reader is just begging for C/W to stay. Thank you!
10: “I can’t keep living like this!”
12: “Maybe it wasn’t worth it.”
44: “Was I just not enough for you?”
Word Count: 1,189 (angsty and fluffy)
A/N: Excuse me, what do you mean ‘back’? And this is angsty as requested, (in my defense, these are the angstiest prompts)
The sound of the door slamming made you flinch. Loud footsteps thudded away from your shared room. You groaned, sitting on the ottoman and burying your head in your hands.
It was the fifth fight you’d had with Wanda in the past week. After you told her that you loved her, she had started distancing herself and become cold. Arguments became common.
It always started the same, you were trying to spend time with her, but she kept pushing you away. When you mentioned her behavior, she started arguing. You got defensive, and the argument ensued.
It always ended the same, Wanda left the compound to get fresh air. Sometimes, she might take a mission just to avoid you. But other times, she avoided you for a few days before you apologized. You were tired of everything. Tired of being treated as someone who only took care of Wanda, tired of being someone she didn’t want anymore.
You made yourself some tea in the kitchen of the compound. You wore one of Wanda’s hoodies and black leggings. Slowly sipping tea, you were thankful that none of the other members of the team were around. It surprised you when you saw your girlfriend heading towards your shared room. You frowned and headed in behind her. Tea left behind on the counter.
“Y/n?” Wanda called out softly in the room, looking around the small room.
You walked in behind her, closing the door shut. The click of the door resounded in the room, Wanda turned around to face you. There were tear stains near her red eyes.
“Yeah?” You asked, moving past her to sit down on the bed. Wanda stood there, fidgeting before she sighed.
“I’m sorry,” She sniffled, rubbing her nose with her hoodie sleeve.
“For what?” You asked she sighed.
“For everything. Can we,” She ran a hand through her hair and took in a deep breath.
“Can we try again?”
“Wanda…” You trailed off. You didn’t want this all over again. You wanted change.
“We need to change a little, I can’t keep doing this.” You murmured, she raised a silent eyebrow.
“What do you mean?” She asked, sitting down next to you on the bed, cautious not to touch you.
“I can’t keep living like this!” You said, louder than you had intended. You noticed Wanda flinch, you winced at the action and sighed before facing her.
“What did I do wrong?” You asked, voice breaking. A tear slipped down your cheek. You tried hastily to wipe it away as more tears fell.
“Was I just not enough for you?” You murmured, voice broken and watery.
“Y/n, no,” Wanda murmured, reaching out to take your hand in hers, but you pulled away.
“I just, I want us to be like we used to. Before everything fell apart before I told you that I loved you.” You murmured, sniffling, and wiping the tears out of your eyes.
“Y/n…” Wanda trailed off, unsure of what to say.
“Maybe it wasn’t worth it,” You whispered, shaking your head, looking down at your hands. “Maybe I shouldn’t have told you.”
“Y/n, please, look at me.” She pleaded, you sniffled and looked up at her.
Wanda wanted to run away from you as fast as she could. The redhead didn’t want to hurt you. She saw she was hurting you by staying. But Wanda wanted to be with you. She couldn’t imagine life without you by her side. Determined to make this work, she took your hands.
“I’m so sorry,” Wanda whispered. You opened your mouth to speak, but she pressed a cool finger to your lips. You stopped trying to speak and listened.
“You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met, and you know I’ve always been scared you would find better than me. But for some reason, you chose me. Every single day, I loved it, but I was so scared,” Wanda looked down and rubbed gentle circles on your knuckles.
“When you told me you loved me, I got terrified. Everyone I’d loved in my life died or got hurt because of me. I didn’t want the same for you. I was scared that I would hurt you.” A tear slipped down her cheek as she apologized.
“I get it if you don’t want to be with me anymore,” She looked up to face you. “But I just want you to know that I love you.”
You responded by cupping her cheek in one hand and pressing your lips to hers. Wanda’s eyes fluttered shut under your touch, lips moving over yours. Her tears mingled with yours as you sighed into the kiss. You pulled away to breathe, noticing that Wanda followed you when you pulled away.
“I love you,” You whispered while kissing her. Wanda smiled and kissed you again before pulling away.
“Can you do something for me?” You asked, she nodded.
“Use your powers for a second.” You whispered, she opened her mouth to protest but stopped when she met your intense gaze.
Sighing, she let wisps of red flow through her fingers. You reached for her hand, she moved her hand away instantly, terrified of hurting you. You reassured her by resting one had on her thigh. Wanda licked her lips nervously and moved her hand towards you.
You intertwined your fingers with hers, letting the red wisps float through your fingers. Tilting your head to the side, you played with her fingers and observed her powers.
Wanda was gauging your reaction the entire time, scared she was going to hurt you. But as the seconds turned into minutes, she found herself feeling more comfortable with it. The witch allowed more magic to flow,  watching you carefully.
“What does it feel like?” she asked, you focused on her.
“It feels warm and tingly, comforting.” You answered the sincerity in your eyes shocked her.
“Are you still scared?” You asked, moving her hand closer towards you. She nodded her head, still scared she was going to hurt you.
Instead of responding, you moved her hand to your cheek, the wisps flowing against your face. Wanda almost stopped, but when you squeezed her thigh gently and smiled at her, she decided against it. You stayed there for a few seconds, nuzzling into her touch.
“What about now?” You asked Wanda to let the magic stop, but you still held her hand against your cheek.
“No,” Wanda replied, her breathing hitching when you moved your lips to kiss the inside of her hand.
“Next time you get scared, just talk to me.” You whispered, your voice vibrating against her hand.
Wanda nodded, you smiled and leaned in towards her, pulling her in for a hug. You wrapped your arms around her, tugging her closer to you, so she was almost sitting on your lap. Your girlfriend buried her head in your shoulder, breathing in your scent. The feeling of you being so close to her comforted her instantly. Wanda felt better knowing she won’t hurt you.
“I love you,” She murmured into your shoulder.
You grinned and kissed the side of her head.
“I love you too,”
THANK U AGAIN FROM THE VERY BOTTOM OF MY HEART!
you are the sweetest and seeing this ask really made my day, it was an absolute pleasure to write something for you!! this is a college au with wanda, and i was able to use both prompts!! i really hope you enjoy this :)
words: 1,884
summary: [College AU] You’re harboring a wicked crush on Wanda Maximoff, and it doesn’t help that you’ve been spending more and more time with her this semester. But when one of her friends assumes you’re a couple, you find out just how oblivious you actually were to her feelings.
Taking It Slow
wanda maximoff masterlist
Once you started hanging out with her, it soon became clear to you that Wanda were not the best at holding her liquor, and that she was really affectionate when she was drunk. Thankfully she was usually easy to herd around at the bar (with the promise of either more alcohol or some kind of snack), and then you could help her make it back to her apartment without seriously injuring yourself.
This time though, she kept a tight grip on your hand as she walked with you onto the street, the chilly night air nipping at any skin that you didn’t have covered. “I don’t wanna go home,” she whined, moving closer to you.
This was definitely a new side of Wanda, but it wasn’t unwelcome. You had met when you were assigned a project together the previous semester and you really liked her. She was smart, kind, and beautiful, and you hoped to consider her more than a friend eventually, but right now you would have to settle for a platonic relationship.
“Come on, we can go back to my apartment,” you said, and you watched a smile light up her face.
“You have snacks right?” Wanda’s face was serious, as if you were discussing the most dangerous of missions rather than whether or not you had food in your fridge.
“Yes, I have snacks, don’t you worry.”
“Good, I love a woman with snacks readily available.”
You tried not to read too much into her comment (she was drunk after all), but you couldn’t help the little scenario that flashed through your mind as she said that, where Wanda wasn’t just your friend. She laid her head on your shoulder for the entirety of the cab ride back to your apartment, and you were really starting to wonder if you were dreaming. Her hand was so soft and it felt so perfect intertwined with yours, but the occasional tiny burp from her brought you back to reality: that she was simply drunk, and this was how she acted when she was under the influence.
When you made it back to your apartment, you helped her up the stairs. She had been to your place before, so it wasn’t like you were worried she was going to get lost, but her steps were a little wobbly from the amount of liquor she had drank tonight. “You should go to sleep,” you said gently.
“Y/N, it’s barely midnight!” she said brightly. “And besides, you promised me snacks!”
She decided soon after that she wanted an ice cream sundae, and thankfully you had the ingredients. The two of you sat on the couch together, enjoying a comfortable silence as you ate. You wished that more moments could be like this (though you’d prefer it if Wanda was sober), and you wished you had the confidence to admit to her how you felt.
“Hey Y/N,” Wanda’s voice broke the silence and pulled your attention back to the present. “Guess what.”
“What?”
“I like you.”
You laughed, wishing she meant that statement in a different way than she probably did mean it. “I like you too Wanda.”
“No no no,” she said. “I like you.”
“What?”
“Yeahhhhhhh,” Wanda said, stifling a yawn as she slurred slightly. The last bits of her ice cream were completely melted by now, and you gently took the bowl from her hands and placed it on the coffee table before she accidentally spilled it on herself.
She didn’t elaborate, so how were you supposed to take that? What if you bore your soul to her, only to realize that she only likes you platonically, and you were the one who took her drunken words the wrong way? Where would that leave your friendship then? But at the same time, if she really felt the same way, what if she never admitted it again?
Unfortunately, right as you made up your mind on what to say, you turned to see her eyes closed, with soft snores escaping from her mouth and a peaceful look on her face. Well obviously the universe had made that decision for you.
***
After that night, Wanda invited you out with her and her friends more often. You got along well with Natasha, Carol, and Peggy, but they knew that you were there for Wanda. It got to the point where Wanda would invite you out with them pretty much every time, and you also ate with them in the dining hall whenever your schedule allowed it.
You were waiting for Wanda to meet you for lunch after her class one day when Carol sat down at the table and took a big bite out of her sandwich. “Do you mind if i observe you and Wanda for a day? I have to write a romantic scene for my creative writing class and I need some inspiration,” she said. “I know it’s weird, but I already asked Natasha, but she didn’t want me following her and Maria around and Peggy just broke up with her boyfriend, so I’ve got nothing.”
You were completely and utterly shocked, not sure what to say to that. Did she really think you and Wanda were dating? You could understand why someone would make that assumption who didn’t know you, as you had been mistaken for a couple a few times at the campus coffee shop, but not by someone you knew. “Um, that’s fine,” you said, still wondering if this was all some kind of joke. “But Wanda and I aren’t dating.”
As much as she tried to hide the surprise in her voice, it didn’t really work. “You’re not?”
You shook your head in response. “Nope.”
“...Are you sure?”
“Last time I checked, yeah.”
“Does Wanda know that?” she asked, and that comment threw you for a loop even more than her question did in the first place.
“What do you mean? Of course Wanda knows we’re not together,” you said. “We’ve always just been friends.”
“Y/N, I am probably breaking some kind of friend code by saying this,” Carol responded, looking around to make sure no one else was around before she spoke again. “But Wanda really likes you, and she’s just not very good at showing it.”
“I really like her too,” you said softly.
“Then why don’t you make sure you’re on the same page?” she asked, and before you could respond, she was already standing up and waving to someone else. You followed her gaze to a girl with brown hair who was walking with who you presumed was her boyfriend. “There’s Jane, I’m going to see if she’ll let me follow her and Thor around for this stupid assignment.”
She was gone seconds later, and you had just begun to process what had been said to you when Wanda sat down and started to eat. “Hey,” she said with a smile.
“Hey,” you responded, but your mind was still catching up to the last conversation. You almost asked her about what you were right then and there, but you just couldn’t get the words out, a somewhat common predicament you found yourself in when Wanda Maximoff was in your general vicinity. And once you got your bearings back, you decided to keep your feelings hidden for a little longer.
***
Believe it or not, you didn’t always have time to ponder your relationship with Wanda, because the two of you were incredibly busy. With classes, jobs, and other commitments, you tended to see her only when there were others around, and that wasn’t exactly the best time to ask her what your relationship really was. This was definitely something that should be done in private.
So when you opened the door one Friday evening to see Wanda standing on the doorstep with a bottle of wine and a smile on her face, you immediately let her in. “What’s with the wine?” you asked.
“Unfortunately, it comes with the fact that I need a place to stay for the weekend,” she said quietly, and you caught a glimpse of the duffel bag she had with her. “The power grid for my apartment is down, and maintenance says they won’t be able to fix it until Monday.”
“Wanda, you’re always welcome here!” you said. “And besides, I have a surprise for you!
It was a stupid thing really, but lately whenever you would go out with her and her friends, she never wanted to go back home, so you spent many night together on your couch, eating ice cream sundaes. She also tended to fall asleep on your couch and would go to class from there the next morning, so you picked up a toothbrush for her one day while you were out. It was a small gesture, but you hoped that it was something that could lead you to finally tell her how you felt.
When you presented her with the present, her eyes widened. “This brings our relationship to a whole new level,” she said, solemnly at first, but there was a smile on her face less than a second later.
You laughed at her expression. “Dude, I’m just keeping a toothbrush here for you.”
“EXACTLY!”
“So we have a relationship then?” you asked, and the words came tumbling out of your mouth before you could stop them.
Wanda looked at you like you were crazy. “Of course,” she said. “And I’d really like you to be my girlfriend, but I know you don’t want to move too fast-”
“What?” Well, that could have been phrased better, but there was nothing you could do about it now. “You like me?”
“I thought that much was obvious,” she said, reaching down to take your hand. “Don’t tell me you didn’t realize it.”
There was a sheepish look on your face. “I really like you too, but I thought we were just friends.”
Wanda laughed out loud at your comment. “I can’t believe we’ve been so stupid,” she said, leaning slightly closer to you. Her face was now closer to yours than it had ever been before, and you really wanted to kiss her. As if she read your mind, Wanda’s gaze flickered to your lips. “Can I kiss you?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes,” you breathed, and when she placed her lips on yours, you couldn’t believe it had taken you this long to figure everything out.
After a few seconds (of utterly perfect bliss) you pulled away, finally putting the pieces together. “Wait, is that why Carol wanted to observe us for her creative writing assignment?”
Now it was Wanda’s turn to look sheepish. “I may have told everyone we were together when I first introduced you to them, but I just thought we were taking things slow.”
You smiled, leaning in to kiss her again. “I could tell that now,” you said. “And I probably ruined your little white lie when I asked her what the hell she was talking about.”
Wanda laughed. “That’s okay, we can set the record straight next time.”
“You don’t want to call her now?” you asked playfully.
“Nope.” She shook her head as she spoke. “Right now, all I want is to kiss you again.”
“I think that can be arranged.”
Sorry - Scarlett Johansson
Warning: None.
Angsty and fluff.
~~~~~~~~~~
No one's POV:
You didn't remember the reason why the two of you started to fight anymore. Hours and hours of shouting here and there with so many different topics coming up in every seconds. You just confronted her on being so busy this days, i mean, you know and understand her line with work, but this past few weeks you felt as if you're just a chore for her.
Why is it so hard for her to understand where you are coming from? Because as the shouting gone by, she's flipping the table, and she's coming at you, saying things that's not true, which really hurt you. While Scarlett, is just too tired and exhausted from work, that her anger got triggered when you confronted her, and became too blinded on where you are coming from.
They said that these things, the fightings, is normal in a relationship, but it gets really tiring, so after the last sentence she shouted at you which is "Fuck, why can't you just shut the fuck up?! Can't you understand it? I'm working, and i've been busy!". You just shut your mouth, and made your way to the kitchen.
She made you felt as if you're in the wrong, as if you're the wrong one here, while all you just wanted is a free time from her, it may just be an hour or two, you didn't really care, because all you wanted was her, but now, she took the confrontation the other way.
So, currently, you're here at the kitchen, cooking dinner, while she went upstairs to take a very much needed shower. Even though you're very upset at her, the care you have for her still didn't go away, and the fact that she's tired and exhausted from work, makes you feel like you should still make her feel all better and cared for, that's how you love her.
Now, back to Scarlett, as she take a shower, her mind went back on earlier moments, analyzing and calculating your words, and her words, trying to make out on who's truly wrong. A fight that started from a small conversation. As her mind became wider and more clearer, she realized that she's the one who's in fault.
Because, as much as she don't want to believe it, she been so busy, so busy that her busyness makes her almost forgot about you. Her heart swell in guiltiness, and regrets because of the things she said to you. It almost made her angry with herself, on how dumb she is for not seeing through you, and for not understanding you well.
So, after she's done and all clean up, she quickly turned the shower off, then drying off and putting a much more comfortable clothes on. Then going down the stairs to look for her girl, only to be met by the smell of her favorite food. All she wants to do is to hug you, say sorry, and to whisper comforting words. Her wandering stopped until she found you in the kitchen, and only now did she notice that you're wearing her clothes, from head to toe, it's all of her clothes, it only made her realized more of how much you have really missed her.
And god, don't you look so cute and adorable wearing her clothes that are bigger than you.
Calmly making her way over to you, stoping when she's just behind you, peaking over on what you are cooking, as her arms found its way to your waist, pulling you closer to her until your back touches her front. Even though you don't really want to be near her at the moment, you just let her.
"That smells amazing, my love." She whispered lovingly in your ear, but you made no move and just continued cooking.
Hmp, she deserves this.
"I'm sorry, baby..." Once again, she was met by silence. "I'm really really really sorry, i should've known, im just really tired and exhausted that's why i snapped out, i don't even know where the words i said came from. I'm really sorry, please forgive me." She begged, hiding her face on the crook of your neck, as her hands snaked inside the shirt you are wearing, her fingertips dancing around you tummy soothingly.
She kept begging and apologizing, showering you with kisses, attention, and sweet words. But, you made no action on paying any mind to her.
Now, it's time to eat, but you're still ignoring her, you just eat, while she stared at you. You're halfway, and her stare is really bothering you, plus, the food is getting cold, and ofcourse, you being the caring girlfriend, and with the looks she's giving you, you know she won't eat until you talk to her.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Your voice is calm, it's not as warm as it used to be, but it's not that cold either.
"I am." She squeaked out, she sounds like she's fighting her tears, making you look up.
"Then what are you waiting for? The food will get cold." You said, pointing at the food.
"Talk to me, then I'll eat." She said, her voice is now breaking, her heart cannot contain the pain of you, ignoring her as if she's not there.
"Am i not talking to you right now?" You ask with a raise of an eyebrow, as if it's the most obvious thing. She shook her head, and you see tears started to brim out of her eyes, making you feel bad for the way you're treating her.
Damn, she's so sorry already, why can't you just accept it then move on. But, you want her to feel how you felt, you have valid reasons.
"I'm saying sorry to you, and you won't even acknowledge me." She said, which came out as a whisper as tears fell out of her eyes, which she quickly wipe, then lean back on her chair, looking forward at the plate, avoiding your gaze.
And now, if you would look at your peripheral vision, Scarlett looks like a kid who is being scolded by her mother for not wanting to eat.
You almost felt bad just by looking at her, but it's making you laugh at the same time for how she is acting. Such a baby.
"Okay, sorry, i just- i just thought you would understand what i felt and realized what you did, which i think you do. I wil accept your apology, only if you promise me that you won't do that again." You said now more softly and warm, just how she loves.
"I promise, im really sorry, i really promise to have more time with you, and give you more attention that you deserve." She said, looking at you pleadingly and convincingly, then reaching out to hold you hand.
"Look, im not asking for so much, because i know you're a very busy person, i knew that from the first day i met you. But, an hour or two with you is enough, that's all im asking." You said, softly.
It makes her heart clench on how you're very desperate on having her by your side, it's just a very simple thing that she can't give you, a very simple, but a very heart-warming gesture. You just want her, while all she does is work.
"I'm really sorry, baby..." She started, as she reach over to pull you in her embrace. "I promise, i will give you more than just an hour or two, okay? I will take a break from work, and then we'll go on a vacation, just the two of us, how about that? Would you like that, my love?" She ask softly, hooking her index finger on your chin, making you look up at her.
"You don't have to do that, im just asking yo-" You tried to reason, not wanting to be a burden or anything to stop your girlfriend from doing her work, but you were cut off by Scarlett.
"Shhh, i want to, okay? I want to make it up to you, im just giving you what you deserve, plus we would really need that, i've been busy, and work is really hectic, plus, we would have much more time with each other. Work is nearly done anyways. Pleaseeee?" She begged as she gave you a puppy eyes at the end, making you sigh in defeat.
I mean, the idea of going on a vacation, just the two of you, no works, or anything that can interrupt the both of you, is a good thing right? No, it's amazing.
"Okay, okay, fine. We'll go." You said, and smiled softly at her, which she returned with much more big smile. She lean in to kiss you, and you met her halfway.
The kiss is deep, full of love and passion, but before it can lead to something more, you quickly pull away, much to her dismay.
"Okay, okay, stop, let's eat." You said, chuckling when she groaned.
"Why do we even need to eat?! We're just gonna poop it out anyways." She whined, making you slap her playfully.
"Hey, we're infront of the food." You scolded her while laughing, which made her laugh too, and said a small 'sorry'.
Before she started to eat, she softly capture your face with one hand, and gave your pink plump lips a multiple pecks, that you needed to stop her because she doesn't want to stop.
"Okay, big baby, you're being too spoiled with so many kisses already." You teased, and she pouted, but it quickly go away when you gave her a kiss.
"Now, go on, eat up." You said, which she quickly obliged.
"I love you." She said lovingly, before shoving a food in her mouth.
"I love you too."
