i don't think i've felt joy without an undercurrent of sadness in maybe 6 years. this week i've been trying to make peace with the fact that i might never feel happy and this might be as good as it gets. i give myself a little talk every time i wait for the kettle while making coffee: "this is as happy as you'll get. are you fine with that?" and i am. sometimes i think oh but if i was the sort of person to move to bali i'd be happy - but you're not girl! i can enjoy my life without feeling ecstatic. i still want to live even if i feel like i'm living in a fog.
