I am here to talk about Kate Moss and these girls who romanticize the serious things she said in the 90s. [tw:mention of ED]
I am sick of seeing 15-year-old 'coquette' girls posting pictures of her on Tumblr or TikTok with the quote "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" and promoting EDs as if they are nothing. Also, I see lots of girls doing 'body checks' on TikTok trying to promote anorexia or giving 'tips' on how to lose a huge amount of weight in a short period of time, and of course, in non-healthy way. And this TikTok audio that says: "she's known for promoting anorexia and heroin use. her nicknames are 'Cocaine Kate' and 'Kate mess'" post edits of Kate to it and caption them with 'iconic' or 'my inspiration'. What's the point of that?
Just because someone influential said that doesn't mean it's true, and it's even less something people should be spreading all over the internet, in which there are very young girls that are easily influenced by those quotes.
The model apologized years after saying that and said that's she was, in fact, going through an Eating Disorder.
I think we should do something to stop this and teach little girls to love their bodies instead of teaching them to starve themselves because 'Kate Moss said so' in the 90s.
