hey i found this bizarre cat on reddit and everyone is saying it's a chimera, what's your opinion?

Looks like a Céleste or Celestial, an experimental breed recently recognized by the French registry LOOF. The breed was developed by introducing the Altai DBE gene into British Shorthairs and British Longhairs.

By and large registries are refusing to amend their standards to include DBE cats, and I agree with this decision but that’s neither here nor there, so instead the founders decided to go another route and develop their own breed.

Céleste tend to be smaller and less type-y than their original British cousins, which aligns with the more moderate phenotype of this girl compared to some British Shorthair’s of similar age.

We know atypical white spotting is associated with the Dominant Blue Eye genes but it also appears that these genes, at least those present in the British Shorthair/Longhair and Céleste breeds, may have some influence on tortoiseshell distribution on the face.

British Gems has three split face queens that have garnered a good deal of attention online (also misrepresented as chimeras by the layperson).

And here’s a couple other Céleste tortoiseshells who have a primarily black head.

So no, not likely to be a chimera!

We’ve just had our first leader change, The first leader was carried off by a hawk.

We have had several cats punished for challenging the leader who have been scarred (also the cats who punished them got scarred, two died from it)

we had an apprentice missing one leg die and now we have a kit with the same condition (totally unrelated but I am scared for them)

We have had almost all our healers die young until we found our current oldest healer so most of our healers were trained by StarClan

We have a murder (unsolved) currently

First leader was bloodthristy, second leader is bloodthirsty, and now our new deputy is bloodthirsty. First leader is the first member of our Dark Forest.

We have a couple Clan Founders still around, one is an elder, one is the leader

We have so many she-cats. just because, I guess.

We have 3 healers now, two young adults, who I am terrified for.

My current fav decided to be a mediator and is abusing their powers for evil :)

Also their mate died recently and im pissed because their design was SO cool and their dynamic as a couple was AMAZING
