“The way of the bars” my 1 minute film. Quite of a bumpy ride for me. I started off with me having a more fantasy based story with my character being in a more metaphorical world with a fictional depiction of my consciousness and turning the story in 2 days into my calisthenics journey story and how it helped me in life.
I wanted to go big for my 1st major University animation having been inspired heavily by the “THE LINE’s” animation but also many other artists which I included in my bible. There days were I was enjoying the project and nights where I wanted to punch a hole through my screen.
It definitely tested my patience, as I originally didn’t want to make an animation so heavily focused around me one reason being I would rather focus on drawing/animating/revolving an idea around sci-fi, robots and heavy high octane action. But I somewhat managed to turn the animation in a more interesting way with having quick cuts and lot of close ups, making the animation feel more dynamic. I definitely got inspired in that part, having watched so many Michael Bay movies, especially the Transformers but also “Calisthenics” montages and sport clothing ads had an influence for me.
1 major think I have to include is that having worked before this 1 minute film on a animation projects of my own helped me out a lot in doing well in my 1 minute film production.
All in all I’m just going to say, it was somewhat fun but definitely an educative experience and looking forward bringing ideas of my own and not just my life’s story.
Final Drawings from my 30 Day back to Basics Challenge but also some sketches for logo designs i did for 2 of my close friends for their businesses/brands but also some other personal drawings and some own brand designs.
Drawings from my 30 day back to basics challenge, where i would see the significant improvement as i went by. (Challenge was done during the whole of February)
“The Way of the Bars”, my final version of my 1 minute film.
The black crops and colour grading I did in premiere pro as well added the mp3 of the song, “Devil’s gonna come” composed by Raphael Lake / Royal Baggs from the album.
The whole production was made in Adobe Photoshop.
I didn’t really add shadows or some effects here and there like breathing or chalk dust due to my limited available time.
I’ve happy with the feel of the animation, once i’m done with the line work, i will re-adjust the background some sizes in some parts so it’s proportionate and correct. If all goes well, i should finish my clean line work this week and jump into colouring and highly probable having gotten feedback from my tutor, will just adjust the backgrounds colours in post-production to just fix the tone and feel of the short film.
