The hostility between Chani and Gurney is fascinating. They come from different cultures, professions, and generations, but they're in a very tense alliance based on their loyalty to Paul. They're also perhaps the only two characters on Paul's side who don't believe him to be a messiah. They both love him as a human being, but Chani is opposed to the cult of personality while Gurney encourages it for strategic reasons.

Chani clearly doesn't like Gurney, getting annoyed by him and wanting to literally drain the water out of him from the moment they meet. As we saw with that one Harkonnen soldier, she'll do it to someone while they're still alive. Love that about her. She'd probably drink Gurney's water personally. The last thing Gurney might see before dying would be Chani taking a refreshing sip of what used to be his blood.

Gurney seems to at least respect Chani enough to warn her against committing blasphemy while surrounded by Paul's worshippers. That could also be him stopping her from interfering because he wants Paul to lead the Fremen against the empire, and Chani might be the one emotional attachment which could make Paul stop.

They're the two sanest people in the story by a wide margin, but they have almost no common ground and barely tolerate each other.

I'm finally starting Voyager and damn I like it so much! I never got around to it cause I had it in my mind the I had to watch DS9 first but I keep getting stuck on like the second episode 😭😭 I wanna watch it it's just hard idk why
