I don't know why or what happened but just, tall, intimidating Kagami, with a skull mask that covers his mouth and nose but leaves his crimson eyes visible and full of bloodlust. His hands and the axe, gripped in his right, are dripping blood. You don't know who's it is, but at least it's not yours. It's almost impossible to run from him with his athletic abilities and the amount of force he could put behind a swing of that axe was purely terrifying...

But once you're cornered, he's towering over you and only coming closer slowly, drawing the moment out. You close your eyes, expecting what's to come, but the sound of metal hitting the floor startles you further. You slowly and cautiously look up at him, confusion now added with your fear as the axe is no longer in his hands, but on the floor. The look of danger is no longer in his eyes but now showing affection for your scared form.

Yeah, you're definitely gonna be the one to live to see this sequel

Y'know how when tigers are content or happy they chuff, like they're little exhales that are kinda a big cat brand of purring.

What if when Kagami is very relaxed or just plain happy, he can be caught doing something similar, like it's just quiet noises that sound kind of like short laughs and you can hardly tell it's happening unless you're touching him and feeling his breathing.

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

The hands rubbing circles on your upper back stopped instantly and the pair of crimson eyes that you adored were now focused strictly on your face instead of the game on TV.

You could see and hear his clear confusion, "where did that come from?"

You shrugged, laying your head back down on his chest, idly spinning the ring on his necklace. "Sometimes I feel like I need to tell you. Put it all out on the table, y'know?"

Despite the two and a half years you'd spent with him now, he still got a little anxious when you said those three words, not because he feared them, but he still never understood how he was lucky enough to have someone like you be the one to say them.

He sighed, turning his attention back to the TV, groaning when he saw the score gap between his favorite team and their opponents.

"...I'm listenin, go ahead."

You smiled, it was cute how he still got all flustered when you got sappy on him.

Your fingers continued playing with the ring as you began. "I love you, everything about you. Your hair, your eyes, your voice, and especially your pretty smile."

You looked up and saw his face already a light shade of red, his eyes trying to focus on the game. You couldn't help but smile.

"I love your personality too. You're fighting drive and how if you get knocked down, you never stay down long enough for your opponent to catch their breath. So talented and driven, knowing what you want and doing everything you can to get it."

You leaned up and placed a kiss on his temple, which made him finally give up his attention to you. "I look up to you, you're a really passionate and admirable person, Taiga."

He struggled to hold eye contact with you, but the hand that was previously resting on your back was now on your cheek, the blush on his face grew slightly as you leaned into his touch.

"You really mean all that, baby?"

You nodded, moving your own hand to his face, in an attempt to get him to look at you, which you succeeded on, but only for moments at a time.

"Every word, Tai. Just the honest truth."

It was like a switch flipped when he leaned in and gave you a quick kiss, giving you that smile you couldn't help but love once he pulled back. "Keep the sweet words comin, don't leave me hangin now."

You couldn't help but be surprised, but no way were you about to complain. You thought for a moment, perking up and letting out a small 'oh!' which made him laugh.

"Ok, ok, watching you play basketball is another reason. You're a whole other person when you're out there. It's crazy, a little scary, but in a good way! You just, you care about your team so much and you wanna do right by them. And your winning spirit, it's so respectable and it shows you truly take pride and care in the things that matter to you."

Yeah, ok, he already knew that, but hearing it straight from the person he loved most made it hit that much harder. "Wow, you...you sure know how to make a guy feel special."

You sat up, no longer laying along his side but upright on his stomach to make your point more clear as you added to your previous spout of affection.

"Special? Honey, you're amazing. You're so incredible out there. And even if it can be intimidating and daunting, it's just another part of you, one of the parts that makes you the man I love."

He's taken aback, small tears pooling in his eyes, your sincerity finally getting to his emotions. His arms tightly wrap around your midsection, using you to sit himself up and bury his face in the crook of your neck.

His voice is uneven, despite that, his next words are full of passion and endearment.

"How the hell did I get this damn lucky," he asked himself, you ran your fingers through his hair, occasionally kissing the side of his head.

He truly almost didn't know how to handle the situation, the slew of affectionate words, knowing someone as incredible as you adored him.

So he did the only thing he could think of.

His grip on you tightened slightly, wanting you as close as possible as he removed his face from your neck. Tears still threatening to fall as you felt one of his hands move up to the back of you head, making you lean towards him to he could kiss your forehead.

He then laid his own against yours, eyes closed, taking in the moment. Finally saying the one thing, those three words he needed you to hear

"I love you too."

You stood at the entrance to the locker room, looking on sympathetically at the boy on the first bench. His head down, eyes focused on the ground.

You'd been sent by Riko to both comfort him and get him to meet up with the rest of the team. As both his team's assistant coach and his partner, keeping him in line was a task that often fell on you. Not that you minded, you loved the guy.

Though you couldn't deny that you felt nervous when you pushed the door open. Not about what he'd do, just terrified you'd end up saying the wrong thing.

He continued glaring down at the floor as the door was shut and your footsteps approached.

"...the team's ready to-"

"Leave without me."

His voice held more emotion than you'd heard all season. That's not to say emotions didn't run high at other games, but never those never ended this dishearteningly.

That day was rough from the very beginning

Everything had been tense since they first stepped foot on the court and rightfully so, but now it was almost too much to bare. You'd never say it didn't make sense, of course you were upset too.

You weren't sure if it was the loss that did it, or the disappointing fact that Seirin's dreams of a championship were undone by Aomine and the rest of the Touou team. Either way, their winning streak was snapped and there was no changing it now.

"You know we're not gonna do that," you sat down on the bench beside him, getting a better look at his face.

His normally fiery eyes were dulled by disappointment and guilt. He was obviously drained, physically and emotionally.

You rested a hand on his shoulder, "Taiga, your team needs you right now, and you need them too."

You knew his hotheaded personality on the court, though sometimes problematic, was what often motivated his fellow freshmen.

Motivation and sheer determination were typical traits you'd find in an ace. Which made his current state even more painful to see.

You wanted to help in some way, any way. Seeing him like this would be detrimental to the teams morale. Not to mention how much it hurt you to see him so...defeated.

He eventually sighed roughly and sat straight up. "Fine, give me five minutes."

You nodded and stood up, giving him privacy to change out of his jersey and game shorts. Only for his hand to reach out and lightly grab your wrist with a quick 'wait.'

You didn't even have time to question him before you were pulled over, strong arms securing you in place, standing in-between his legs, your boyfriend's face pressed tightly into the crook of your neck as he muttered something against your skin. It was hard to tell but you knew it was along the lines of 'stay with me.'

Your hands moved up, one resting in his messy hair and one beginning to rub small circles on his upper back.

"Baby, Riko's gonna kill us if we don't leave soon."

"...I need you right now, she can wait a few more minutes," it was muffled against you, but it was obvious just from his tone that it was clear he was right.

You were all he needed.
