18 Hours in Chicago (shooting Owen: Bad Blood)

     The day that we shot this video was actually the longest day ever for both of us. I had flown out of NYC around 9am, arriving in Chicago a little after 11am. Mitchell left Detroit around 6am to drive down to Chicago/pick me up.

     With the smallest possible rental car, he picked me up with some of our equipment from the airport and we continued on to pick the rest of the gear up. Before heading to Saki (our one shooting location) we got Peaquods and it was then (for whatever reason) that it hit me that I was actually half way across the country, making a music video for an incredibly talented songwriter, I felt so lucky.

     We left there (our buddy Kyle met up with us there, who was a huge help, thanks again Kyle) and went to Saki to begin setting up. Every production is a challenge, but between conflicting schedules, limited access to the location and the fact that we both traveled in day of, this one was crazy for sure. Kate Grube was incredible and did the art for this video, we set up our lighting and the art upon arriving, then waited for the guests to arrive.

     Mike has some awesome friends and really knocked it out of the park on getting a bunch of them their to mourn the loss of their friend. Really, the idea was pretty simple. We wanted to celebrate the life of Mike, as if he had passed. What better a place than a record store? Once people started showing up, we had 6 hours to cover everything. We got the beer a flowing and started filming. I cannot express how much we appreciate the people who came out to help and be a part of this.

     Afterwards we all went out and Mike bought us really awesome tacos/beers, and we all lived happily ever after (though I did fall asleep on public transit at 4:30am on my way back to the airport and nearly miss my flight).

I directed a music video for Owen with my buddy Mitchell Wojcik. It was the longest day of my life (flew out to Chicago at 8am on Sunday, got back at 9am on Monday) and I am really stoked to finally be able to share this!
