I’m so obsessed with this btw. Who talks like this? Not normal people, i’ll tell you that for free. Having a completely normal conversation about some random shit and you casually drop “i’d die for you” in the way that someone would say “i care about you” or something. Matter of fact, this conversation wouldn’t have even warranted THAT sentiment either. Listen, you could have just said “nah imma keep that to myself” but you two cant go 5 minutes without reminding each other that you have a suicide fetish

"my wife is a smokeshow and her rack sits just right, but my brother has autonomy in this universe so i g2g..." that actually made me laugh out loud because i'm 100% sure that's the main reason why he didn't like that life enough to be fooled by the djinn to stay. Sammy didn't even know their little "bitch/jerk" way of flirting so Dean had to LEAVE.
AND
"He does not want to live in midwest suburbia with a woman who could give him everything that you think he needs, because she will never be you" poetry. I want to get inside the supernatural show just to grab Sam by his shoulders and show him your post while i say "so GET THIS"
If only Dean was a bit more expressive about his feelings he could've gotten everything he wanted from Sam. Or if Sam was a bit more cunning, more bratty, just enough to abuse of his strongest power (not his psychic abilities, but his puppy eyes) Because COME ON, the puppy eyes+the bowl haircut had Dean staring at him as if Sam was the last cheeseburger with the greasiest bacon. Couldn't be me, I would have Dean on his knees.
if Sam actually understood the power he has over Dean, we would be watching a whole different show...you see glimpses of it sometimes, like when he was soulless, but since he has a soul, he refuses to take advantage of it...which is crazy because i agree i would have that whore on his knees....hussy

"i wanted my BROTHER, alive" is an interesting thing to say when you ummmm when you uhhhh...when the alternative presented is having a family and a normal life. and sam is so crazy, laughing crying emoji, for thinking that Dean has wanted a family this entire time, like...sweetheart, have you even watched s2e20 What Is And What Should Never Be? Dean had a normal life and he was like yeah fuck this. my wife is a smokeshow and her rack sits just right, but my brother has autonomy in this universe so i g2g...
he doesn't want a normal life, he wants to watch you sleep in the passenger seat on a long drive from Lexington to Saugatuck and when you get to the motel, he wants to bicker over who gets the bed closest to the wall. he wants to hear you say his name when you're excited, when you're angry, when you're annoyed - he wants to watch you talk about generic monster #432 with your expressive hands, he wants to cling to you hard enough to bruise and crawl inside your skin, he wants to destroy his body until you understand how heavy you sit on his chest all of the time...he wants to press his palm against your wounds and clot the blood with the weight of his hand, to find you in any conceivable condition and find a way to patch you up even if it requires pulling the flesh from his own bones. he does Not want to live in midwest suburbia with a woman who could give him everything that you think he needs, because she will never be you.

if theres one thing that mister Kripke knew about, it was the importance of a good music cue. So many scenes are burned into my mind because of the timing and tone of the music they selected. A few that stick out are the scene when they’re running from the cops and Renegade is playing, and then the scene where that one guy with the powers from season 2 gets stabbed in a parking lot while White Rabbit plays. FUCK its so good

anyone else just randomly remember that Sam and Dean share a heaven……what’s up with that. Yea my greatest memory was lighting fireworks with my little brother in the middle of a random field (in slo-mo and set to a Bob Dylan song, thanks for coming) but Also, i can walk down this liminal road (before CW made it a sterile looking hallway, please exit through the gift shop) and find him eating thanksgiving dinner with some no-name girl’s family…and it reminds me that he can eviscerate me over and over again without even trying, that he’ll always have the power to break me the way that he did when he left for college - and i’ll let him do it, i’ll let him twist the knife’s handle when the blade is in my guts as long as that means that it’s not in his.

wincesties are so funny because we'll make a post about Sam and Dean fingerblasting each other or something and then the tags are like #blood of my blood #sins of the flesh #unholy bond of souls #the inheritance of intimate horrors

if supernatural was like.....a normal show, they could have demonstrated character growth for Dean by having him move past the whole "I have to protect Sam because it's my job" into a healthier relationship where he's less overprotective, gives Sam more autonomy, etc. The schema of John that Dean had - the caring father, the loyal husband, the righteous man - that entire illusion shattered very early on in the show, and it had everything to do with John's resignation about Sam's fate. Theoretically, if Dean outgrew John's ideology, that should have also shattered the illusion that he needed to protect Sam no matter the cost.
But it just, like...made him worse? Instead of realizing, "hey, the role that my father assigned to me was never necessary, and it's also a very unhealthy way to live," he doubled down on his concern for Sam. Instead of trying to get better, he internalized it. He saw how much it upset Sam, but instead of backing off, he just pretended to loosen the leash. Nobody was coercing or convincing him to do that.
On the surface, it looks like Dean had some character growth re: their codependence. But, I mean. The look on his face when he was dying in the barn says it all. He was so happy to die, because he was relieved that Sam would live. His dying speech had nothing to do with himself and everything to do with Sam. He spent his last few moments trying to protect him from grief, of all things. Grief was the kindest thing that he ever had to protect Sam from, and that was what made Dean's death merciful.

thinking about how sam and dean literally never improve, literally never learn any valuable lessons despite all of their wrongdoings, despite all of their promises to do better; thinking about how their morals degraded over time; thinking about how their co-dependency caused their undoing over and over again, how it worsened to a point where dreams of independence became nightmares and the years spent yearning for normalcy felt like a different lifetime; how they were re-dressed in different skin a million times over, given countless opportunities to be reborn, and they instead chose to sew their souls together each time, allowing their inevitable uncoupling to rip them at the seams

no joke i had a dream that Sam Supernatural and Dean Supernatural would kiss on the mouth on-screen during the show, like not full blown makeout but the way that some people kiss their parents on the mouth (i'm looking at you, italians) and everyone thought it was so normal and i was like wait isn't this weird to anyone else? does anyone else think this is weird?
but like is that really so different from the experience of the actual show? they don't kiss on the mouth but they say things to each other that are so intimate that it's shocking sometimes...they flirt around the bounds of physical intimacy by pressing thumbs into each other's wounds, threading flesh with a sewing needle, bathing in each others' blood, fists to the jaw that leave purple bruises that last for days on display for everyone to see

supernatural could have ended by keeping their promise on 'whatever choices you make, whatever details you alter, you will always end up here' and had sam wither away to nothing after dean's death in the barn and beg for lucifer to take him again on the condition that he brings back Dean, he'll let lucifer destroy the earth and everything on it, just bring back dean, please, just so that Sam can see him again for one moment only for lucifer to snuff his life out with Sam's body. but instead they played a cover of carry on my wayward son

nooooo CW's supernatural you're so sexy don't show me a tangible representation of the horrors that only interested me because they were implied......nooooooo ahhh don't construct a physical schema of hell and heaven that are within human comprehension and make them a metaphor for corporate life under late-stage capitalism...
