Picture Bucky come home to Bee playing doctor on Malyshka bc she saw a booboo on her mamas - aka a hickey

Bucky had just stepped out of his office when he heard Bee calling for him. He followed the sounds of her voice down the hall until he was in your studio.

An oversized easel in front of you is bursting with vibrant colors, some of which is smeared across your forehead and cheek. Bee is kneeling on a stool across from you, her palm pressed into the side of your neck.

"Papa you helps us," Bee says when he stops into the sunlight room.

"What's wrong?" Bucky asks, rolling up his sleeves. His gaze searching you carefully. You seem fine, he swears you're amused. And a little smug. It's in dichotomy to the pure concern radiating off Bee.

"Lookit," Bee requests, lifting her hand off your skin. "Mommy gots a boo boo. Papa you fix it?"

Your amused eyes slide to his confused ones as he leans down to get a better look. His gaze flares with embarrassment and a little pride when he realizes what's happening here. She was covering up the large hickey marring your skin. He created it this morning when he joined you in the shower. It's one of his better ones. He can't say that to Bee though.

"I'll uh," he clears his throat, rubbing his hand over his hair. "I'll take care of it sweet Bee."

She sighs in relief. "Tank you Papa." Turning to you, she wraps her arms around you, hugging you as tight as she can. "You gonna be all better Mommy," she mumbles into your shoulder.

Looking over her head as you pat her back, you widen and narrow your eyes at your husband. The silent I told you this would happen hits him square in the chest and he shrugs.

A sly grin forms across his face as he winks before tracing his handiwork with his fingertips.

He'll leave the next ones in places only you and him will find. For now though he's going to take care of you.

"Let's go find her a bandaid," Bucky says, lifting Bee off her chair.

"She needs two."

Bucky suppresses a grin. He didn't think it was that big but clearly his baby disagrees. So do you judging by the glare you're leveling his way. "She might need a cupcake to help her heal and so do you for keeping your mama safe."

"With sprinkles?"

"Only the best for my girls."

Just imagine getting the common cold/flu during the apocalypse. Everyone at the camp would freak out, because they are worried it's something more sinister, and Jake would just have to protect you even more from them. He would be so desperate to find you medicine. And he would hold you so close during the night while you shiver with a fever. He would hold your head and rub your back while you are being sick. He would keep awake while you fell into an almost delirious sleep, praying you'll wake up and hoping you'll feel better when you do. This man taking the best care of you ever

No because you’re so right, the second that someone is pointing a finger at you and gasping, “She’s sick!” Jake is on edge. It’s a shame, because he has grown to like some of these people, but he would never let a single one of them lay a finger on you. The second that fever hits, Jake is keeping you away from them.

So many symptoms that before were just common flu symptoms are now linked to being infected. Fever, drowsiness, migraines. He knows how fear makes people act, and people are afraid of sickness. These days, medicine isn’t readily available. They have looted all of the stores in the local area, they’ll have to travel further and further out, and he’s so afraid of leaving you but you’re in no condition to be travelling.

At first, he’s so sure that you’ll be able to get through this with just rest and fluids. He’s by your side constantly, holding you if you puke, rubbing your back when your awake. Even though there is no AC and you know your fever must be unbearable for him to lie next to, and even though you keep trying to brush him away, worried that you’ll get him sick too

But as the days pass and your fever still hasn’t broken, he knows you’ll need something more than fluids and rest. He all but threatens the life of the camp doctor (and I’m not saying that Jake cuffs him to a pipe outside of your room and takes the key on the supply run with him, but that’s exactly what he does).

Finally, after some medicine and more rest than you’ve had in a year, he starts to notice some improvements. He sticks by your side until you’re a picture of health again, at which time he holds you down and makes you swear to never, ever worry him like that ever again.

I’m loving the apocalypse dbf!Jake stuff so much!!! Jake being all gruff and protective and violent is intoxicating.

But I got thinking what if the Daggers showed up? Still friends with Jake before everything and his girl probably recognises them from pictures but meeting them…it would be a lot…

And I think Jake probably would come across them all as part of a much larger group. They’d all worked with the military when this had started, trying to slow the spread, and then when that had failed — they stuck together. Jake hadn’t even thought about them. His only priority was getting you to safety. Well, that’s a lie.

He had thought about trying to contact base once or twice, but never had.

Your group is small now. You’re barely surviving. The people you’re with aren’t equipped for how outnumbered you’ve been. Then, one day Jake comes across something different. Maybe like a prison, maybe like a power plant. Something sturdy, with a fence, and an eye-catching watchtower.

He knows that he has to scope it out from a distance if he’s going to take it. He can’t chance the people there hurting you.

So, every day for a week, Jake scopes the place out. Every angle. Every weak point in the fence and every entry point. He’s walking back through the woods one day when he hears a branch snap a second too late. By the time he reacts, he’s already on his front with a knee on the back of his neck.

“Don’t bullshit me, who are you with? — I’ve seen you watching this place.”

And the realisation hits. Jake wriggles to pull his arms from under him and yank the bandana down from over his nose, “Phoenix?”

“Hangman.” She breathes, still kneeling on his neck. Finally, it occurs to her to relent. “Holy shit, everyone thought you were dead.”
