Sometimes it’s really lonely being an author. Because when you’re writing, you’re doing it alone, and there’s no one there to gush over silly feelings with you.

And I suppose that’s why reader comments are important to authors. It’s not about the compliments. It’s that we’ve been alone with our thoughts this whole time. It’s an awesome feeling when a friend shows up to share them with you.

I need to ask. How are you guys finding any reason to wake up in the morning in this country?

I mean, it just feels so fucking hopeless. How did we get here? how did we get to a country that doesn’t have fucking oxygen in it’s hospitals anymore? to a country that is weeks and weeks late to a vaccine because the government keeps on blocking some and refusing to buy others? how do we keep going in a country whose president still believes he can cure covid with cloroquine and pretends he’s not responsible for the death toll? and worse, how do we keep living in a country that has A LOT of people that agree with him? people that don’t believe in vaccines anymore, people who think the virus is a hoax or that masks are not effective… 

Those who have been reading this blog since 2015 or so know how much I have always believed in dialogue, in conversation, in helping people understand, but looking at where we are: how the fuck do we get out of this? I don’t see any paths out of this mess. 

So. Any of you have an answer? how are you all telling yourselves to keep going? Are there any hopes besides the wish that one day I might dance on top of his grave? 

Cause i’m fucking tired.

I'll write in English bc people outside brazil can benefit from this too. I grew up in a not nice scenario in a way that was small bad things happening constantly. Like Brazil. You can either shut down or find something to be joyful about. Because the thing is, you are not supposed to be going through all this, you weren't made for it, your brain wasn't wired for it so is trying to figure things out.

I found gardening which is corny but it's something that gives me purpose. My sister draws and paints.

So be angry, be informed and do what you can but also find something wonderful to feed your soul because otherwise you'll lose it.
