narratively I am a fan of romances that don’t ever actually become romances

I don’t mean in an aromantic life partner way, I mean romantic tension that is never resolved or acted upon for whatever reason but by the end it’s clear that both characters experienced the love of their lives without ever acknowledging it as such. but they know. they know.

#this is so true #but all I can think about is the Jumanji welcome to the jungle movie #where Bethany and Alex have a thing in the game world #and then in the real world she’s a teenager still while he’s firmly an adult with a wife and kids (even named his daughter after her) #(for saving his life) #and it’s such a silly movie but that moment is really interesting #you can feel the missed opportunity - serious after a movie full of gags of Jack black (Beth) hitting on Nick Jonas (Alex) #idk it’s a random movie to think of #but anyway THIS THIS THIS #give me the angst and drama #however there is nothing better than having a missed romance like this… only to have a hopeful ending #not a confirmed ending just a hopeful one #just enough to make your aching heart take a sharp breath in

Sweet dreams

Here’s another idea that’s lately stuck in my head.

Zoro ends up in a coma because of a devil fruit user that forces their victims to stay asleep by showing them the most beautiful dreams. The only way to get free of this is for the victim to want to wake up. The thing is, it’s not easy. They want to prolong this dream as much as possible. Because of that, some of them stay asleep for years.

The straw hats decide to help Zoro wake up by finding a way to get inside his mind.

When they finally figure out how to do it, Sanji volunteers to help. 

He thought he knew what to expect. That damn Marimo wanted to be the best swordsman. Obviously, Luffy is the pirate king and all the straw hats reached their goals. Kuina is also alive. It all makes sense. He is surprised however when he finds out that in this dream Zoro and Sanji are married, old, and they live together on All Blue.
