Another fakemon I really struggled to be happy with but I feel i've hit on something I like here. Based on wassialing traditions, mostly Mari Lwyd but a bit of Old Tup too. Marissail typically haunt orchards and community gardens and are considered friendly visitors by the people who tend them. Active most usually at winter, they adore festive events and are attracted by the sounds and smells of people celebrating. Wassailwyd, despite their looming presence and decrepit appearance, are much admired pokemon and often feature as guests of honour during celebrations. Their tottering dances and colourful streamers make them right at home amongst any festivity. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Took me a lot of attempts to get these guys to a point I was hapy with, despite settling on the idea pretty much immediately. Velvern are large worm pokemon that live in humid jungles. Their defining trait are the two nozzles on its head, which it uses to spray a glue-like substance over great distances. Despite its cute appearance they are actually accomplished hunters, trapping prey with shots of glue before leisurely making their way over to their hapless victim. Velvydra have overly developed nozzles, now resembling extra heads. Their range has increased considerably and they are effective over a much wider range. A Velvydra's large size is often enough of a deterrent to predators but appearing to have multiple heads, two of which are decoys, is a nice back-up defence. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

I tend to avoid overt pop-culture references but hairy frogs are also known as wolverine frogs for their ability to break their bones and use them as claws, which is just excellent. A nod to Sabretooth makes for a perfect evo and one of my favourites in recent memory. Generally preferring to reside alone, Wolverana prefer to avoid conflict but are ferocious if provoked. Lashing out with steel claws and the spines across their bodies they become frenzied and uncontrollable in the heat of battle, even damaging themselves. Luckily, their healing ability is excellent and they quickly recover from their wounds. Saberana use their claws and spines to inflict vicious wounds on their opponents and unlike Wolverana have no qualms with needless violence. This puts the two pokemon at odds and they often engage in bitter battles, their endurance pushed to their limit as their regenerative abilities prolong their fights longer than expected. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

I've wanted to do an electric Brontothere for ages and since I've got an electric, rhino-adjacent fossil fakemon already in this region, I decided it could make for a good Ancient Power evo instead. As such, Thundercolt was designed as though it could've been a final evo before gaining it's own evolution in a later game (something i've done a few times in this region). Ponai form small herds, lead by an adult Thundercolt. They don't have the aggressive tendencies of their adult counterparts and so can live together in relative peace, but benefit from their presence to ward off predators. Fast in their own right, their first response is to flee danger but if pressed will fire botls of lightning from their horn. Thundercolt possess a wild temperament and will squabble when in groups much bigger than three. They adopt herds of Ponai and look after them in return for a more peaceful social solution. As well as firing bolts of lightning with their horns they can sunder the earth with the clatter of their hooves, rumbling both the sky and the land. Brontremor are heaving beasts of muscle and are indomitable in their will. With such a stalwart defence they have little need to be so grumpy but nevertheless are dangerous pokemon to be around, easily angered and quick to charge. Little can stop them once they begin running and their footsteps are like the breaking thunder. I was struggling with the poses on these guys so had to do a ref sheet to help me out. Handy to better see their markings too so here it is. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Jerfoal haunt the night skies, their piercing shrieks announcing their presence before their silhouette marks the moon above. Relying on fear, they swoop down towards their target noisily and frighteningly fast before continuing their chase on foot. A successful hunt is marked by a startling silence, unsettling but reassuring. Phantomare are large pokemon with a wingspan that strikes fear in any that spies it blotting out the moon above them. Terrifying predators in their own right, even a fleeting glimpse of one has been considered an omen of ill fortune and even instant death. As they bray in the dead of night, whole villages will rush home and shut their doors, not emerging until well into the next day. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Haughty little pokemon with a superiority complex, Sparlin are confrontational and snide to pretty much everyone they meet. Although skilled at wielding their long bills as a weapon they often times deem most opponents as unworthy to suffer its sting; despite having riled them up to the point of aggression to begin with. Dullamarlin have suffered many battles and rather than being humbled by their injuries, instead harbour a deep seated grudge against all they've fought. Using their own disembodied heads even more deftly than they did when it was still attached, they are indeed fearsome swordsmen. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

I wanted a cute fairy dragon and whilst this is a road well tread, I don't really care, it's nice to have. It'l get a Mega and as a cute, high BST mon, I decided Loupup and it make for good counterparts. Drixie are small for dragons and whilst happy and caring, tend away from contact with humans. Many legends are attached to their name and Drixie dust for one is considered to be an ingredient in many powerful remedies and elixirs. Although good natured, they aren't pushovers and if angered will guard their forest home viciously. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

These guys were made more for the lore than as an attempt to make them usable. I chose Megas over Paradoxes since I already have a rough idea of what I want from my Paradoxes. Mega Evolution has drawn forth the memory of what it used to be. Vintarx's playful deameanour and goofy appearance has hardened into the belligerent owner of the untampered bones contained in the dubious fossil. With the stature of a proud herbivore, this pokemon now dons solid armour plates and ferocious spikes. A paragon of both defence and offence. Mega Evolution has drawn forth the memory of what it used to be. Retrex's playful deameanour and goofy appearance has hardened into the belligerent owner of the untampered bones contained in the dubious fossil. With limbs now more in proportion, the noble bearing of a predator shines forth and its blend of sped and power make it a worthy foe. Mega Evolution has drawn forth the memory of what it used to be. Toyranodon's playful deameanour and goofy appearance has hardened into the belligerent owner of the untampered bones contained in the dubious fossil. With wings now flexible enough to tame the skies, this pokemon is both wickedly fast and effortlessly maneuverable. Regular Toys --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

The mega here incorporates some features that didn't make it into the final design and it might honestly be a little too cluttered for my taste. Still not sure if Escort is too much of a ball-ache of an ability, in which case i'd maybe change it to Impenetrable. Mega Yokaizuna are focused pokemon and in battle will stand their ground obstinately, unwilling to give a single inch. Their increased mass and broad build makes them tough pokemon to circumvent but tackling them head on is usually folly. Their fur continues to be a source of pride and they groom it meticulously in their down time. Regular Yokaizuna --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Stubborn pokemon and fond of competition, Rikabe often lay claim to well worn paths and prevent passage without proving oneself in a test of strength. Although considered nuisances by most, should they pitch up on an important route they can impede progress until convinced to leave. Yokaizuna tend to their luxurious locks of fur draped from their waists and consider them a sign of their tenure. Fond of ceremony and honourable fighters, they hold lifelong grudges if wronged and will go out of their way to prevent that individual from ever passing them by unimpeded. Larvausta have an exoskeleton that is highly resistant to heat and as a means of defending themselves will ignite their surroundings and dwell within the resultant blaze. Although they will typically eat the charcoal they prouduce, they do need to leave their fire to substitute this diet with fresh, living plant matter. Raustoon are encased almost totally in their heat resistant shell with only small vents visible through these plates. Although tough and difficult to threaten they use these vents to release pent up energy as a defensive explosion; capable of launching them from danger in the same action that decimated their original launch site. Rallirausta are often mistaken for dragons, their overall shape and fire-breathing abilities an obvious similarity. Their tiny stature for something so dangerously powerful belies their insectile nature and luckily they'd rather mind their own business tending to their flaming nest sites than cause a ruckus like so many dragons. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Mycelumen have specialised cells that produce a charge of electricity and where this charge is stored in greater capacity, it glows strongly enough to emit light outside of its body. They use this light to communicate in the dark forsts they call home and when they glow most intensely they are about to discharge their electricity as an attack. Illumenstein are hulking pokemon that prefer a life of solitude in the deep, dark forests. Capable of storing huge amounts of electricity, they will warn trespassers with a series of flashes from their hands before giving chase and attempting to dissuade further invasion. Illumenstein aren't stupid and would prefer to avoid conflict, though they are more than capable ofemerging the victor. What better shiny than a reference to Frankenstein's original film appearance, in black and white. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

The big one is named after a rather infamous advert from my youth. Jackcicle reside in remote mountain forests where snow is a constant all year round. They descend into human settlements for the winter where they find new targets to endure their mischief. Loved by children and popular as mascots, they can nevertheless prove to be nuisances if not outright dangerous. Judderjack don't enjoy the reputation of their young counterparts and are considered something to be feared. Still viewing themselves as pranksters, what they consider a prank is much more severe and the awful cold they inflict on those they deem targets can be more than enough to kill a human. I realise I posed Judderjack like he's about to shit into his own hand but i'm not changing it now... --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

The names are a fun nod to squirtle etc but have no bearing on any real relationship. Skurtle have yet to develop their shell and so resort to stealing gravestones to hide behind, using them as shields and weapons. Whilst cautious they are nevertheless curious and are keen to watch any who wander by; from the safety of a hidden vantage point of course. Mortortle now have a tough outer shell, layered with a somber-coloured moss and studded with a gravestone they chose to keep from their days as a Skurtle. Preferably left alone, they can be quite ornery if their space is invaded and they are welcomed in cemeteries as a strange sort of guard dog. Spending most of their time asleep, Restoise can grow to huge sizes though only grow more lethargic as they grow in size. They tend to a collection of their favourite graves and guard them jealously, swiping with their wing arms or clubbing intruders with their stony tail. They grow attached to cemetery caretakers and regular visitors and continue to commune with them when they pass. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Buerbeiro has been here before but since I moved Toxidrum, i've added a new friend for it to roll with. Buerbeiro are a frogs body, malformed and piloted by a colony of parasitic worms. By rotating like a wheel they are capable of great speed, scattering poison and spreading their members into the environment at a far greater rate than they ever could alone. Ventrench live anywhere there is strong geothermal activity, whether that be volcano peaks or deep ocean trenches. They filter particles using their bright red gills whilst enduring searing temperatures with their tough carapace; strengthened by the metal and ore they collect. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Decided I had no form pokemon so I turned Toxidrum's Mega into a standard form and freed up a Mega for later. Sludge form has been posted before but this is Barrel forms first showing. I imagine these forms would both be obtainable but one would be much rarer than the other dependant on the games version. The items allow for form switching but I imagine they wouldn't actually be that good. Toxidrum have two major lifestyles and although they intermingle readily, once they have chosen a form they almost never change. Both rely on their metal shell to deflect attacks and have a body composed of a toxic slurry bonded to a reduced bony frame but where they differ is how they choose to utilie these elements. Some remain mostly pliable and spend their time outside of the shell whereas others prefer to hide the majority of their body within the shell. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--

Although I might have tried to do too much with these guys (canaries are full of potential ideas) I do really like the end results. Canoxide was intended to feel like a pokemon that underperformed and got an evolution in a later generation. Canoxide are bird pokemon that have adapted to a subterranean existence, no longer able to fly and with wings that have developed into picks. They communicate through songs that echo for miles through the caves and defend themselves similarly, exhaling the toxic chemicals they breathe in as a means of debilitating opponents in the confines of their environment. Phantox sing as a means of communicating their strength and a prolonged musical number can eject suffocating clouds of noxious vapour into the air until the weakest participant succumbs. Territorial and possessive, a Phantox will aggressively defend anything it perceives as its own; whether that be a place or a person. --Attack Info-- --Ability Info--
