“unbury my heart, would you unearth its remains and give it affection give it a reason to stay above ground a taste of what it means to be loved and make it worth its resurrection give me a reason to forget what’s past and to place into your palms what has been made into stone be tender with your touch and make it soft with your warmth draw its blood into existence turn stone to beating heart with a kiss unbury my heart and love it so it can love in return.”
— would you teach me what it means to be loved | wt.

"we're prepared to welcome anything from you and find it difficult to withhold forgiveness.. we eagerly await your return, not like others who wait, but with all our hearts.."
letters like that have been written and yet people refuse to believe that love and friendship share the same essence.. the acceptance, the anticipation, the yearning for a specific presence, and the shared desire for closeness.

a drug.
I'll miss how we used to be together all the time, I wonder how you became an obsession for me, almost like a drug, an addiction. a necessity, but I went to rehab today, took something that cut off my delusions, my tears ricochet, trying to understand the collusion.
one day I'll find you again, and we won't be the same anymore, I won't rely on your existence to complete mine, and I would live better than I did before.
yes, I hated the day my rose-tinted glasses broke, despised the day I got my mind back, I was blinded by your veil, a perfect charade, until the fire inside me was finally rekindled love is all smoke, and hope is a scandal.

“May your sky always be clear, may your dear smile always be bright and happy, and may you be for ever blessed for that moment of bliss and happiness which you gave to another lonely and grateful heart. Isn't such a moment sufficient for the whole of one's life?” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, White Nights

To love someone long-term is to attend a thousand funerals of the people they used to be. The people they're too exhausted to be any longer. The people they grew out of, the people they never ended up growing into. We so badly want the people we love to get their spark back when it burns out, to become speedily found when they are lost. But it is not our job to hold anyone accountable to the people they used to be.
-Heidi Priebe

its the way you used to tuck that half-smoked cigarette between my window and the wall, and how you'd always come back for it later. come back for me this time, don't leave me looking back at the shadows of what once was.
