The opening in the circle is 3/4". There is a lovely texture and the earrings are 99.9% pure silver. I polished the raised areas to a high shine and the depressed areas are a satin finish. The ear wires are 92.5% sterling silver hammered hooks. The earrings are fashionable and beautiful! Some people consider silver to be a mirror to the soul. I love the finishes you can create on it from a dull finish to a mirror shine. Silver clay jewelry is handcrafted from clay that is made from recycled ground fine silver with a binder. When fired the binder burns off leaving 99.9 percent pure silver. Because the earrings are not machinery made they have a handcrafted charm to them. The earrings should be removed when showering and especially when swimming in a chlorinated pool. Store it in a protective pouch to avoid scratching.
