RS friends, some help? Because it's been a while since I saw the season (and am too lazy to look it up): how long was Reid in his coma after Susan shot him?
@soot-and-snide “Reid Pig” - still prefer “Jackamund”
THE BALLAD OF EDMUND REID
Edmund Reid was a man of Whitechapel.
With a vow to protect all the streets and their people.
Dreamed this cursed place was a place he might save.
So raise up your glass.
To the fight that he gave.
55 souls, their lives torn away.
By a train not of steam but of fire and thunder,
And five to the gallows on the 14th of May,
Of a black-hearted coward caring only for plunder.
How Ed Reid did bleed.
On the ground black and cold.
His life flowed out from him.
He lives!
His soul to depart, Inspector Reid!
Till a queen saved her knight,
Like some story of old.
‘Twas a hand sopped with grace of the good lady night.
Now in Miss Susan’s high castle Ed lies,
Twixt life and his death, in a sleep without end.
It surely ain’t long before brave Ed Reid dies.
Whitechapel, you never deserved such a friend!
Edmund Reid was a man of Whitechapel.
To protect all the streets and their people,
Dreamed to save a cursed place which no man can save.
Thatcher, I always knew you were the one with the brains.
Cadogan’s Dental Supplies… ain’t none of you in need of falsies, last time I saw ya. And there’s a chewed up cadaver in your dead room, Captain, which is now pronounced a hoax.
Pairing: Edmund Reid/Alex Drake; Edmund Reid/Homer Jackson; Edmund Reid/Jane Cobden
Characters: Edmund Reid, Alex Drake, Dick Hobbs, Homer Jackson, Mathilda Reid, Bennet Drake, Jane Cobden; mentions of Molly Drake, Gene Hunt, Sam Tyler
Chapter Summary: Jackson deals with the immediate aftermath in 1894. TW: graphic depictions of a gunshot victim/medical gore. (Initially, I wasn't going to include any scenes in 1894, but I...wanted to write some Jackson. I blame @homerjacksons.)
Excerpt:
He and Reid hadn’t been friends for years. They hadn’t been anything for years—not friends, associates, ships passing in the night, nothin’. Reid hadn’t even bothered to arrest him, despite the opportunities. Jackson had made sure to disturb only the peace within Reid’s jurisdiction, but still—nothin’.
Then those trains collided and—just like that—Reid had choo-choo-ed his hot-damned caboose back into his life. They’d barely had time to reestablish a rapport before Reid’s long-lost daughter had surfaced, and now—now, the bastard was sprawled across Susan’s plush Turkish carpet, connected to life by a fiber fine as frayed silk.
Here are the original 4 pages of my sketchbook with the short Sackson story and illustrating pictures. I’ve tried to think first and write then to make it as proper as possible, but … It’s not perfect :(
Next, there are the Jackson and Susan pics. This time, I drew them with coal.
If you’re not able to decrypt my handwriting then you can go on reading the story here. It’s nothing special, but a nice little bedtime story. I also put in in AO3.
