What I love about this scene is the test of trust Sam puts out. Karli threatened Sarah and the boys. He must be rattled, scared.

Sam intentionally phrases it as Karli’s statement. He doesn’t say “I’m going alone.” He wants Bucky to come. And I think he wanted to hear Bucky say he was coming with. It was a silent request and Bucky rises to the occasion.

It was Sam saying “I need you” and Bucky is there. I think it’s easy to see the turning point in their relationship when Bucky starts actively showing up and repairing the harm he caused. But the other piece is Sam learning to let someone show up for him.
