Nearly 30 years ago, the Second War ended and all was well in the magical world. The children of war heroes and criminals were born and raised in a time of great peace. They've come of age and began to make their marks on the community, shaping the future. Beneath the peace, however, something wicked stirs. Danger grows in the shadows. Now Harry Potter, the greatest hero of our age, is dead; murdered in a mysterious ritual. Who will rise to face this new unknown evil and who will fall in its wake?

Sealed in Blood is an 18+ canon-based post-Potter RPG currently set in the year 2026 and rated 3-3-3. SiB explicitly rejects the bigoted and harmful ideas of the Harry Potter author. The fandom stands on ideals of love, support, equality and acceptance. All identities, both in and out of character, are welcome and embraced. We seek to expand upon canonical foundations and expand the world based on character actions and choices, crafting it into something truly our own. The board has a variety of canon names and families to choose from, and original characters are welcome and encouraged.

Harry Potter Is Dead

Nearly thirty years passed between the end of the Second War in May of 1998 and the beginning of Sealed In Blood's plot in April of 2026. Below, you'll find updates about various canon characters and positions to fill in the gap between where the series left off and the board began. None of the characters mentioned here are playable and exist only as NPCs in the world of SiB unless otherwise stated.

Harry Potter; never returned to Hogwarts for seventh year, but instead became an Auror to help rebuild and maintain peace within the Wizarding World. Potter worked a wide variety of interesting and dangerous cases, eventually working his way up to Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. In February of 2026, Potter took the lead on a very secretive investigation. The following month, he and his team of five top aurors disappeared without a trace. At the end of April, roughly a month and a half after their disappearance, the team was found murdered.

Ron Weasley; never returned to Hogwarts for seventh year, initially became an Auror, but after two years with the DMLE left the ministry to help his brother run Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

Hermione Granger-Weasley; found her parents after the war and restored their memories before returning to Hogwarts to complete her final year. Began her career with the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she helped drastically improve life for house elves, before moving to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and fighting to repeal pro-pureblood laws. As of 2024, Hermione holds the title "Chief Witch of the Wizengamot."

Ginny Potter (née Weasley); played chaser for the Holyhead Harpies for several years after leaving Hogwarts, leading the all-female team to two British & Irish League Cups. Retired from the game upon the birth of her first child and became a Quidditch Correspondent for the Daily Prophet. After a disagreement with the paper’s Editor-in-Chief in 2022, Potter left her job to return to the Harpies as coach.

Neville Longbottom; has taught Herbology at Hogwarts since Pomona Sprout’s retirement in 2014. Head of Gryffindor since 2023. During school holidays Neville lives above the Leaky Cauldron with his wife, Hannah Abbot.

Luna Scamander (née Lovegood); became famed magizooligst and naturalist. Maintains ownership of the Quibbler, but is often too busy with her career to be very involved in its business.

George Weasley; continues to run his shop with help from his wife and younger brother. The shop has been wildly successful and, in 2009, opened a secondary location in Hogsmeade. George continues to produce both products of amusement and products for defense and safety, though he is very selective about whom he sells the latter to. In 2013 after public outcry about the legality of love potions, George voluntarily discontinued production of such items and joined the campaign to outlaw the potions altogether. With his support and the shifting opinions of the magical community, love potions were officially outlawed by the Ministry in 2015.

Percy Weasley; spent several years in the Department of Magical Transportation, eventually becoming Department Head in 2011. Fifteen years later, he continues to run the Department and has developed a passion for broomstick regulation that surprises even himself.

Charlie Weasley; never married or had children. A few sporadic relationships ended quickly, as Charlie - despite adoring his family and doting on his nieces and nephews - has always had dragons in his heart. In 2002, he assisted the Scamander family in opening the Scamander Sanctuary in Wales and has since been Chief Overseer of the Welsh Green herd.

Bill Weasley; continued to work for Gringotts for many years. In 2013, Bill was sent back to Egypt to oversee the curse-breaking team he used to work with. The distance from his family and time apart were key factors in his decision to leave the bank at the end of 2016. After taking a year off, he started his own curse-breaking firm, Incantatem Inc., in the spring of 2018.

Professor Minerva McGonagall served as Headmistress of Hogwarts until her retirement in 2015. Passed away in 2019.

Kinglsey Shacklebolt; served as Minister of Magic until retirement in 2018, replaced by Morina Shafiq. Currently lives a quiet life with his family in Wales.

The year is 2026. Britain's magical world has been peaceful since the end of the Second Wizarding war in Mary of 1998; all has been well for nearly thirty years. The community has taken advantage of this golden age to grow and improve, to flourish and modernize. Perspectives have changed; house elves are now required to be salaried, love potions have been outlawed, movements to repeal wand bans for non-humans have gained steam, and support for werewolves has seen marked improvement in the form of open-mindedness, increased employment options and charitable efforts. For many, the most important change in culture is reflected in the complete rejection of blood purist ideologies. Where once such opinions were mere seen as distasteful and outdated, they're now vocally spoken against. The Ministry takes a firm stance against hate crimes against muggleborns and many organizations, both publicly and privately owned, have created research grants for those looking to create magical equivalents or hybrids of modern muggle technology.

Even in peacetime, however, tensions stew beneath the surface. Not all members of the community are so open to change and old prejudices can be hard to set aside. Scattered incidences of dark magic and brutal attacks, downplayed by the media and ministry alike, have plagued the community for years. Rumors of something dangerous, dark and mysterious spread in shadows. Until recently, many have found this creepy darkness easy to ignore so long as it hasn't affected them personally, but the recent disappearance and subsequent murder of Harry Potter, war hero and head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, is difficult to ignore. The community is afraid and desperate for answers.

Each IC month, Sealed in Blood staff will offer a handful of Daily Prophet snippets reflecting development of plot and setting. These could be important things like updates on active investigations, or smaller things that might just be a little silly or fun. Either way, members are encouraged to explore and interact with these snippets as best fits their character. For instance an auror character may have a thread investigating a crime mentioned in one of the Daily Prophet updates. Interactions with plot elements will determine how they unfold and shape the growth of our community.

SiB prioritizes canon as found in the original book series. Expanded information, such as that found on Pottermore or in books from the Hogwarts Library sub-series, is generally accepted as canon as well. Information contained in the Fantastic Beasts movie series may be considered canon, save for where it directly contradicts information established by the book series. All events, information, and characters established in the Cursed Child stage play are explicitly considered non-canon by the board and its staff.
