In the continuing comedy of errors that is today鈥檚 bake, I also failed to noticed that I was out of milk - dairy milk, anyway. So today鈥檚 experiment is whether or not using oat milk and an extra tablespoon of butter to make up for the lost fat will work as a substitute for whole milk in this quick bread recipe. I鈥檓 90% sure that it鈥檚 the sour cream that has the chemical reaction with the baking powder in this recipe to cause the loaf to rise. Guess I鈥檒l find out soon. Fingers crossed!

I want to baaaaaake… but that would involve not being face-planted on my bed. (It鈥檚 been a long week.) Maybe I can make some quick bread tomorrow since I have the day off…. I just need to pick up some sour cream and shredded sharp cheddar.

…wait a minute.

…I work in a grocery store.

Spiced Teacakes Part 1

I refound my spiced teacake recipe! It鈥檚 been missing for months! Yay! Today鈥檚 adventure is going to be finding out how using half and half instead of milk affects the rising/baking… (we were out of milk).

Flour Tortillas

So I鈥檝e got two big takeaways from making tortillas.

1) Homemade tortillas are much more delicious than store bought ones.

2) Do NOT attempt to make tortillas and whatever you plan to fill them with at the same time. Especially if you only have three working burners on your stove top. You will run out of burners. (Also, if the recipe tells you that the tortillas are quick to roll out, it鈥檚 lying to you.)

So tomorrow I need to finish renewing my passport and maybe do my taxes but all I can think about is whether I can fit in making fresh flour tortillas as well.

You know what, fuck adulting. I鈥檓 making tortillas tomorrow. I鈥檓 too tired to do paperwork, and I want to bake.
