🌟 New

The latest version of the iOS app has swapped the TumblrMart and Profile buttons, so that Profile is back in the primary app nav bar. Please read more about this change here.

You must now be logged in to send anonymous asks. Your identity will still be kept anonymous to the receiver, but we’ll now be able to more effectively act on abusive anonymous asks when reported.

When using Tumblr in a browser on your phone, there’s a new reblog popup when tapping the reblog button on a post, with the options to “Reblog now” (which reblogs without opening the editor), “Reblog” (which opens the editor), and “Add to queue”. We’re hoping this can make the experience of reblogging and queuing reblogs on the mobile web much more seamless, even though it adds a tap.

On web, we moved the page at /blog/[blogname]/gifts to /settings/gifts, and it now has a blog selector at the top (if you have more than one blog).

🛠 Fixed

On web, we’ve updated the “collapse” icon on blogs in the account menu. Instead of “person and three lines” now there’s a more familiar caret icon.

We’ve fixed various visual inconsistencies with activity items on web when viewing your activity page and the activity popup in the header under the ⚡️.

On web, some tagged pages have a description of the tag in the sidebar, and it was unexpectedly flashing out of existence after the page loaded. Now it stays!

We fixed an issue that accidentally disabled ask boxes on web when the blog’s “Allow anonymous asks” setting was disabled.

The links to tags under “More posts like this on Tumblr” on certain pages were leading to the wrong tagged pages when there were spaces in the tag. We’ve fixed that.

We fixed an issue on your likes page that could sometimes cause it to think there was a next page, when there wasn’t.

Activity items about privately answered asks now show the correct avatar, the blog who privately answered your ask, instead of your avatar.

When using Tumblr in a browser on your phone and viewing a short looping video, the video controls no longer pop back up after the video loops.

I’m watching my partner play smash and they’re on one of the KH stages. I was like “where have I seen that specific Heartless symbol before” (outside of the game) on the side of the castle in Hollow Bastion and then I was like “holy shit I just saw it on the secret reports mobile theme!”

I guess you could say I’m “thinking of you, wherever you are” :)

YEESSSSSS the KH1 Hollow Bastion castle is so cool, I had to pay respects to it with the channel branding LOL

Hey, I’m really confused about what they meant when they said Master Xehanort is a portal and that they could use that to trap him. I’ve seen your portals video as well but I’m afraid I still don’t see the correlation :(

Don't worry, in my DDDiscuss intro video, I also state that none of my research on DDD's portals helped me understand that LOL.

Looking back now, I don't know why they implied such a link between "Xehanort being a portal" and "using that to trap him" because they seem like two different phenomenon, but I'll explain why at the end.

In short, I think they tried to trap Xehanort's consciousness within his own dream/heart.

To best understand this, let's look at Sora in DDD. Yes Sora was in the real world, unconscious. But a "heart version" of him was also inside a dream/memory version of Destiny Islands conjured up by his heart. We never saw this "heart version" of Sora simply because he left/disappeared before Riku arrived.

So it seems to me the Guardians of Light attempted a similar thing against Xehanort. They opened a familiar pink portal into Xehanort's heart, which lead them to a dream/memory Scala conjured up by Xehanort's heart. Within, a "heart version" of Xehanort exists. I think they wanted to defeat this "heart version" to incapacitate the real Xehanort outside, just like unconscious Sora in DDD.

The real Xehanort's body DOES disappear by the time the Guardians of Light fight the 13 vessels, so it might be somehow Xehanort's body also got trapped within his own heart as well. While that DOES differ from Sora in DDD, it isn't the only time that happens, as Riku's body disappeared when entering Sora's heart, and Sora disappeared completely when fighting Roxas in the Station of Awakening. So I think it's possible your entire body can enter the realm of sleep/dreams.

As for Riku calling Xehanort a portal in the first place, I think that line derived from a 10 year old Nomura interview statement, where he calls Young Xehanort a "portal" due to time traveling abilities gained from robed Ansem SoD. The thing is, Dark Road approaches the scene Nomura is referring to very differently. Ansem and YX don't have that transference of power, and instead Ansem brings up "waypoints".

Therefore, I personally think the word "portal" is no longer related to why Xehanort can transcend time and space, and instead Nomura is developing other terms and reasons for why that is (and I could go into that as well, but I'll stop for now LOL).

Things we wish had more relevance? I, for one, am still salty that we didn’t get to see Tron in KH3 after how DDD went. I would trade the Ralph summon for a Tron one in a microcycle, I swear to the Users. But alas, it’s just another deposit in my Tron Salt Mine.

Is there anything in KH that you think could or should have been expanded on, or had more relevance than it ended up having? For me, it’s Anti-Aqua - there could have been so much more done with the concept if she had actually existed for more than one cutscene and boss right, but instead it just feels like something shown for shock value in the trailers and then not really properly touched on in the game itself. I hope that that makes sense, but I’m curious as to what you think!

I guess if I had to list something, it would be the Keyblade of Heart from KH1. Since KH1 seems to be resurfacing in importance in a variety of ways (Kairi's childhood, the lifeboat, etc), I hope hope hope the Keyblade of Heart makes it's return as well (yes, even if that means all the Princess of Heart are in danger again LOL)

Just because, I would really like to expand upon the differences and connections between the Keyblade of Heart, No Name, and the X-blade !

Okay so i was thinking of the two brains theory and there was something I was thinking about, if there really is two brains then who's the fake? I genuinely don't have any evidence for this but it struck me that Ava not only is responsible for having Brain hold the BoP and try to change fate, she also has the ability to disguise herself as other people as shown when she appears as any one of the other foretellers to test the strength of the player. Who's to say she isn't the other Brain?

Yeah I'm on the same page as you that I definitely think this could be Ava! I even think it's possible that if fake Brain isn't her directly, that it could at least be a program (like data Riku in Coded) produced by her-- though admittedly, that would take much more time to code a program than just disguising herself with magic in a flash.

But either way I believe Ava is involved because I don't think Ava knew the Daybreak Town after the war would be a data world doomed to be deleted so it would take down the Darknesses, but rather thought (and taught the Dandelions) that Daybreak Town would instead fall asleep. So upon discovering that it would be data (I assume for now during/after her fight with Luxu), I think it was she who connected Wreck it Ralphs world to data Daybreak Town so that all the dandelions could escape before the world got deleted. But I also think this means she didn't realize the Chirithies themselves would be able to save the Dandelions by protecting their sleeping hearts as Dream Eaters.

btw I found EVEN MORE evidence that there are two separate Brains, and I can't believe I only just noticed this recently.

summary: For a while now, I've theorized the Union Leaders met the "fake" Brain at the Graveyard, while the "real" Brain was watching the Control Room's monitors. "Fake" Brain disappears when the glitches begin to occur, so the Union Leaders to finally meet the real Brain when they learn about Wreck it Ralph's world.

Let's jump to when Ven is telling the other Leaders (with real Brain) what he remembers Ava saying when she promoted him to be a Leader.

However, Brain was not there yet when Ven said this.

In fact, Ven was speaking to Ephemer and Skuld alone for at least a couple more minutes before Brain arrives, as implied by the silent dialogue. So I think this is a hint that the real Brain is ACTUALLY recalling what he watched on the monitors.

I noticed this happened another time too, didn't have any other evidence: I also think the real Brain only knows about the virus speech the fake Brain gives because he watched that on the monitors as well.

It's important to point out that the Keyblade Graveyard itself is probably a data world pulled from the Book of Prophecies just like all other UX worlds (apart from data Daybreak Town itself--which was recorded from its IRL version before the war-- and Wreck it Ralph's world). That explains why there's a graveyard even though Luxu says this is a worldline with no Keyblade War. So it's possible the Keyblade Graveyard is one of the data worlds monitored by the Control Room.
