reading more in depth on the timeline of marinettis life, specifically how closely intertwined it was with benito mussolini, i really wonder... a major characteristic of not only italian fascism but fascist regimes to come does the whole "reject modernity, embrace tradition" thing, which is the complete opposite of futurisms core values (a hard-stop rejection of the past and a call to physically destroy archives, museums, old objects, etc).
if mussolini kept futurism as a core value, what would the world look like today because of that?

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
"It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
"There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
"If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That's why you should always have a nutrition choice!
"Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity."

when ur a movie fan but not one of those weird cinema snobs who like 4 hour long russian movies about a man in one room LMAOOO. like those kinds of people are so pretentious. anyways, heres my discussion of what "really happened" in 2001 space odyseey. weird foreign films are just too hard to understand and are complicated on purpose. i dont really keep up with current events because it doesnt effect me. the israel conflict is too complicated! but we have to vote blue no matter who because trump is the only bad politician. i dont agree with biden supporting israel but still hes better than the other guy!!!. why do you keep getting into the semantics? youre just pulling teeth! i dont watch international movies because theyre needlessly complicated !!!!!

the torture in abu graib exposed should've permanently destroyed any faith in the US government to be "humanitarian" in foreign policy, but instead revealed the power of dehumanization. the most horrific war crimes become a necessary evil as long as you view victims of those crimes as deserving of it. and unsurprisingly the most depraved individuals are attracted to jobs involving torture CIA "advanced interrogation techniques". what torture you see israelis doing right now is so comparable to the torture done by the CIA in abu graib. some of it is quite literally identical, including the pictures and videos sadistically depicting war crimes as a positive.
and now what do you hear? "you're supporting terrorism by rejecting biden/israel". you know who else was accused of supporting terrorism? people questioning bush's policies after 9/11. you know what the public is aware of now? those people were correct about the bush administration.

it’s crazy how communicating even small stuff actually works. before my gf, when she’d go to work, would Sometimes give me a kiss while i was still in bed and then go. and then one day i sort of off handedly mentioned that it always made me so happy when she would give me a lil kiss and now every morning right before she leaves she jumps on me in bed and gives me a bunch of kiss. YAYYY
